Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an overhead cable clad with pipe having excellent electric characteristics by covering conductors supported by insulating spacers with an insulating pipe consisting of two halves and subsequently joining together predetermined portions.
CONSTITUTION: Insulating spacers 20 are fitted among stranded conductors 10 at a constant interval, and the resultant system is covered with a pipe 30 having an outer conductive layer 40 and a length of about 1 m and consisting of two halves 31 and 32. Instead of the pipe 30 consisting of two halves, it is also possible to use one having only a split. With such a construction short pipes can be used to form a long cable. In addition, since the inner surface of the pipe 30 and portions of the insulating spacers 20 in contact with the inner surface are bonded together for integration, the gap between them are eliminated, thus permitting elimination of otherwise possilbe deterioration of the characteristics.
