PURPOSE:To secure the pulse output of a high frequency without lowering the efficiency by securing the laser oscillation in the laser medium of high voltage, and at the same time to obtain a large amount of the laser output per unit volume. CONSTITUTION:DC power source 5 lof low output impedance featuring nearly smooth output voltage is connected between the cathodes such as bar-type cathodes 2a-2n opposed to the anode such as flat electrode 1 with a fixed gap via current limiting resistances 3a-3n provided to secure the steady glow discharge and switching element 4 to secure intermission of the discharge current. Thus, glow discharge 6a-6n are secured between the anode and the cathode. Here, the gas pressure of the laser is set to 100 torr or more in order to realize a pulse output laser oscillation method which can respond to the high-frequency pulse with high efficiency and reduced delay of the laser output.
