Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a hair growing and restoring agent containing water extract from Nardostachy jatamansi D.C. as an active principle and activating the action of hair mother cells in hair roots, etc., through insulinoid action to grow and restore hair. SOLUTION: This hair growing and restoring agent contains water extract from Nardostachy jatamansi D.C. as an active principle. The water extract is prepared by directly putting water over a fire, wherein the water is made to contact as quickly as possible with chopped Nardostachy jatamansi D.C., and by distillation. The formulation amount of the water extract in this agent is pref. 1.0×10<-7> -1.0×10<-3> wt.%. The formulation can be solution, emulsion, cream, aerosol, etc.,, and the type of its formulation can be tonic, hair cream, mousse, etc. This agent can be formulated, if needed, with an oleaginous ingredient (e.g. a higher fatty acid), an aqueous ingredient, a humectant (e.g. glycerin), a thickener (e.g. quince mucilage), a vasodilator (e.g. nicotinic acid amide), amino acids (e.g. serine), etc.

2. Description of the Related Art In a modern society referred to as an aging society or a stressed society, there are more and more opportunities for head hair to be exposed to the risk of hair loss due to various causes. In response to this, various attempts have been made to provide a more excellent “hair restorer”. However, in spite of such attempts, conventional hair restorers do not prevent hair loss,
Hair growth effects such as a hair growth effect were not always sufficient. This is probably because hair loss is caused by various factors and the mechanism of hair growth is very complicated. The hair restoration agents provided so far have been developed by taking into account the relatively rough concept of hair loss, in other words, simply the phenomenon of "hair loss", and few have developed into the mechanism.

[0003] If a hair restorer whose action point is clarified is developed, it is possible to prevent hair loss and the like by selecting or combining the hair restorer according to the symptoms and the like in a more clear form. , More effective hair care can be performed. Therefore, there is a need in the industry to find a component having a more clear and characteristic hair-growth action and to provide a hair-growth agent containing such a component as an active ingredient.

Means for Solving the Problems The inventor of the present invention has made intensive studies for solving the problems. As a result, it was found that a desired insulin-like activity was observed in the water extract of Ganmatsu (Nardostachy jatamansi DC root and / or rhizome) belonging to the pine stalk family, and the water extract of Ganmatsu was regarded as an active ingredient. The present inventors have found that this problem can be solved by providing a hair restorer that does this, and have completed the present invention.

Examination of Insulin-Like Activity of Samples Whether or not an insulin effect directly related to the hair-growth effect was observed in a sample was determined by the human breast cancer cell MCF-7, which has already been established as an assay for insulin-like activity. This assay method is an assay method for insulin-like activity utilizing the fact that MCF-7 cells are greatly affected by the presence or absence or concentration of insulin or IGF-I.

Using bovine thymus DNA as a standard, the amount of DNA per well was determined by the method of Labarca and Paigen (198).
0, Anal. Biochem., 102, 344). The result is shown in FIG. According to FIG. 1, the amount of DNA significantly increased in the system to which the aqueous extract of Kanmatsu was added at 0.1 ppm and 1 ppm in terms of dry weight as compared with the control group, and insulin-like activity closely related to the hair growth effect was observed. It was found that activity was observed. From this fact, it was clarified that the water extract of Kanmatsu had excellent hair-growth activity.
