Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve shock absorbing capacity by installing a shock absorbing member by filling a silicone gel material in a resilient tube, on bumpers of an automobile. SOLUTION: A shock absorbing member 3 is constituted by filling/sealing a silicone gel material 2 in a slender tube 1 made of a resilent material such as rubber and plastic. A belt-like flange 4 corresponding to the length of bumpers of an automobile is installed on the lengthwise directional side surface of the shock absorbing member 3. A pressure sensitive adhesive double coated tape is stuck to the surface of the flange 4 so that the shock absorbing member 3 is installed on the front/rear bumpers of the automobile through this. In a shock absorber having this constitution, shock absorbing capacity imparted to the automobile can be improved coupled with the bumpers by installing the shock absorbing member 3 by filling the silicone gel material 2 having large shock absorbing capacity, small temperature dependency and a stable property on physical properties such as cold resistance, heat resistance, weatherability and satbility in the tube 1, on the bumpers.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, it is well-known that a bumper is provided on an automobile as a countermeasure against impact upon a rear-end collision of the automobile, and an impact absorbing member made of a rigid resin foam such as rigid urethane foam is provided around the automobile. It is fixed and used.

The bumper has a small shock absorbing capacity, and may impair a driver or a passenger even if the vehicle collides at a speed of 40 km / h or less. Further, in the hitherto known automobile shock absorber using the shock absorber and the bumper together, the shock absorber is completely fixed to the automobile, and replacement requires a lot of man-hours. The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems, and proposes a shock absorbing device for a vehicle that can be easily replaced and has improved shock absorbing ability.

Hereinafter, a shock absorbing member and a shock absorbing device of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2. As shown in FIG. 1, a shock absorbing member 3 is formed by filling and sealing a silicone gel material 2 in an elongated tube 1 made of an elastic material such as rubber or plastic. Then, a band-like flange 4 corresponding to the length of the bumper of the automobile is mounted on the side surface of the shock absorbing member 3 in the longitudinal direction. The flange 4 is attached to the tube 1 by separately manufacturing a thin metal member made of the same material as that of the tube 1 or separately, and constitutes a member to be attached to the bumper. Further, an impact absorbing member 3 in which the tube 1 is filled with a silicone gel material 2
The cross-sectional shape can be configured to be not only a substantially circular shape as shown in the figure, but also an elliptical shape or a semicircular shape.

Further, a double-sided adhesive tape (not shown) is attached to the surface of the flange 4 for mounting the shock absorbing member 3 on the bumper 5. When the impact absorbing member is mounted on the bumper without using the double-sided adhesive tape, screw holes are formed in the flange. FIG. 2 shows an example in which the shock absorbing member 3 is attached to the front and rear surfaces of a bumper 5 of an automobile 6.

Next, the silicone gel material to be filled in the tube will be described. As the silicone gel material, a commercially available silicone gel material is used. As the silicone gel material as the shock absorbing material, α gel or β gel manufactured by Siegel is used. α-gel is a silicone-based gel-like substance with a penetration (JISK2530-1976-50g weight) of 50-
200 materials. β-gel is obtained by adding a certain kind of hollow filler to the α-gel, and has a high energy absorption rate and is suitable for shock absorption.
