Description
The present invention is based on a knitted or multi-knit type web and has an adhesive coating on the underside or on both sides thereof. The present invention relates to an adhesive tape comprising a coated carrier tape. Adhesive tapes of this kind are known. The carrier tape is woven or stitch bonded. Woven tapes have been commercially available for some time, and stitch-bonded carriers have been described in DE-A-94 01 037. The adhesive coating is preferably pressure-sensitive. Adhesive tapes with woven carriers meet high technical demands, but are complicated to manufacture, costly, and prone to adhesive throughstrike. Adhesive tapes with stitch-bonded carriers are simple in construction, but have significant drawbacks in use, such as poor reusability, and problems due to the uneven web structure with parallel stitches for reinforcement. Contains. Since the surface of such a stitch-bonded web carrier has a large number of small irregularities in the middle, an adhesive tape that can be easily rewound (unwound) from the beginning can be obtained. The material is rather undesirable for the adhesive tape. This creates another manufacturing problem, which leads to defective joints in applications such as multiple winding of cable harnesses. It is therefore an object of the present invention to improve adhesive tapes so as to eliminate or at least mitigate the disadvantages of the prior art. This object is achieved by means of an adhesive tape as specified in the claims. The carrier used is a kunit type web. Knit-type webs are formed by processing a web of longitudinally oriented fibers into a sheet-like structure with loops on one side and loop folds or pile folds on the other side. However, the web is characterized by not having a thread or a prefabricated sheet-like structure. Such webs have previously been produced, for example, using a "Kunitvlies" type of Marino's stitch-knitting machine, and are commercially available, in particular, from Cotano GmbH or Techtex GmbH. Yet another feature of this web is that it absorbs high tensile forces in the longitudinal direction because it is a web of longitudinal fibers. In contrast to a knitted web, a multi-knitted web is characterized in that both the front and back surfaces of the web are agglomerated by passing needles from both sides. Raw materials for making this carrier include, in particular, polyester, polypropylene or cotton fibers. However, the present invention is not limited to these materials. When making webs, a number of other fibers can be used. For certain applications, such as winding cable harnesses, no coating is used on the back of the adhesive tape. Depending on other specific applications, a second layer of the carrier may be supplemented with a coating of acrylate lacquer or a combination of foam and lacquer. The lacquer, or foam and lacquer, coats the upper surface of the carrier, which is the smoother of the two surfaces of the carrier. The carrier is preferably coated using the method described below. If the carrier is to be coated with foam and lacquer, the acrylate dispersion is first coated on the carrier material by means of a doctor knife blade and fired. The resulting intermediate product is then calendered to densify and crosslink the foam layer, and then the acrylate lacquer layer is similarly applied to the foam layer using the doctor knife method. Coat on top. The coating on the side of the adhesive layer of the carrier, in particular with a self-adhesive coating, can be carried out in a customary manner. It is advantageous to apply the coating in a traditional manner using a combination of a coating rod and a solvent, but using a screen printing method (cf. German Patent C-3,346,100), contactlessly or almost exclusively. It is preferable to perform the coating in a contactless manner. In this case, a uniform or partial coating can also be performed. For the most advantageous parameters, in particular the viscosity and type of adhesive, the screen used, the speed of the web and other measured quantities, see DE-A-3,346,100. However, especially for hot melt adhesives, coating can also be carried out using a die with rollers and slots. If only one side is coated, the coating is particularly applied to the coarse, fibrous side of the web. This is because it is advantageous for the adhesive material to adhere to the web and can be easily rewound from the spiral roll. By coating the back side of the adhesive tape, the rewinding of the adhesive tape is further optimized. Next, a method for producing the adhesive tape of the present invention will be exemplified. Example: A natural rubber / resin at a web speed of 50 m 2 / min and a temperature of 60 ° C. using a doctor knife method in a state where a knitted web carrier made of Techtex GmbH having a basis weight of 100 g / m 2 is suspended. / Coat with white spirit adhesive material. Drying is also carried out at a temperature of 60 ° C. in a suspended state. The non-coated side of the carrier web is coated with an acrylate dispersion (water content 50% by weight) in the form of a foam which is continuously foamed from the beginning in a tenter by the doctor knife method. In this case, the blade of the doctor knife is positioned at 25 ° to the zenith of the lower roll for coating. The pre-product is pre-dried at an average temperature of 120 ° C. and then calendered in the process line at a temperature of 150-180 ° C. and a pressure of 10 metric tonnes. Similarly, the back side of the carrier coated with the foam was set to a web speed of 50 m / min in a tentering machine using a halogen-free acrylate lacquer (Primal 225 manufactured by Rohm and Haas) at 10 g / m 2. Cover. The lacquer coating is dried in a tentering machine at 160 ° C. and at the same time the foam is cured. If only a lacquer layer is required or a coating is not required, the corresponding steps in the manufacturing method are omitted.
