Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a feeling of hitting a ball and easily obtain a delicate feeling about a distance by setting the wall thickness of at least a part of the face of a putter head within a specific range for the reduction of the wall thickness. SOLUTION: A recessed part 5 is formed on the back 6 of a head at a center except for a toe 3 and a heel 4, regarding the head body 2 of a metallic head for putter as a golf club. Also, the intermediate wall thickness T of the central part of a face 1 is made small within the range of 0.5mm to 2.0mm. In other words, the recessed part 5 is formed on the head back 6, so as to envelope upper and lower, and right and left bulged walls, and a sole 7 is formed to have sufficient thickness and projected backward. As a result, a feeling about a stroke becomes soft (i.e., soft feeling) and a feeling about a putting distance can be easily adjusted. At the same time, the strength and rigidity of the periphery of the face 1 are suitably maintained and the moment of inertia becomes large, thereby ensuring a good feeling at the time of a stroke.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Among golf clubs, putters are required to function differently from other woods and irons. In other words, with respect to other clubs in which the flight distance and the directionality are emphasized (other than the putter), in the case of the putter, the "easiness of giving a delicate sense of distance" is very important together with the directionality.

[0003] The most common mistake on the green that causes the player to experience great shock and upset is that they spend more than three strokes on putting, including so-called "three-patts". It can be said that the biggest cause of this mistake is that the sense of distance of the first put does not match.

2. Description of the Related Art Recently, a putter using a relatively soft aluminum-based metal as a material for a putter head has been developed and has attracted attention. Not. One of the causes is that the aluminum head has a very small specific gravity, so it is necessary to increase the head volume in order to secure the head weight, so there are many so-called mallet type (Kamaboko type), It is considered that the thickness of the hitting surface was large (see FIGS. 7 and 8).

Also, a putter has been proposed in which a soft resin is buried in the face surface (ball hitting portion) of a metal putter to obtain a soft feel of hitting. In addition, there is a problem that it takes time and cost, the resin portion is easily scratched, the durability is poor, and there are problems such as deformation due to temperature change.

[0007] Further, in recent years, the number of players who change the ball to be used from the conventional thread-wound structure to the two-piece structure has been increasing, but the two-piece ball has a better shot feeling than the wound ball. However, many players were hard and did not feel well, making it more difficult for players to adjust the sense of distance by putting.

Particularly, in the case of a light metal such as aluminum or aluminum alloy, the weight of the whole putter head is secured while

It is preferable that the slit 8 is opened only on one of the upper and lower sides (not shown). Further, in FIG. 4, the thin wall of the face surface 1 is connected only to the toe 3 and the heel 4 with the rear portion, but a rib-shaped connection may be added partially in the middle between the left and right ( Not shown).

In any of the above-described embodiments (FIGS. 1 to 5), if the wall thickness T is less than 0.5 mm, the strength is insufficient and the ball may be damaged by an impact at the time of hitting a ball. Yes, conversely,
If it exceeds 2.0 mm, the soft feel at impact is impaired, and
It is difficult to give a delicate sense of distance.

By the way, in the case of a club other than a putter, the impact at the time of hitting the ball is large, so that the thickness of the hitting ball cannot be reduced so much in terms of strength. For example, even a metal such as stainless steel or soft iron used in an iron head is used. A thickness of 2.5 mm or more is required. Fortunately, in the case of putters, the head speed at the time of hitting is much slower than these clubs, so reduce the wall thickness with the same material as the conventional head material such as stainless steel, soft iron, aluminum etc. Was able to withstand sufficient strength.

In Table 1 above, the "evaluation of shot feeling" means the average value of scores obtained by selecting ten golfers with a handicap of 5 to 25 as testers and evaluating the softness of shot feeling on a scale of 1 to 5. (5 points indicate the best). On the other hand, for the sense of distance, ten testers were asked to perform putting once from each of the five points 15m to 20m from the cup on the green without practice, and the average value of the remaining distance was 5 points for less than 1m, 4 points for 1.0m to 1.5m, 3 points for every 0.5m, 2 points, 1 point, 3m
In the case where the above remains, the average value of all the scores of 10 testers when the score is 0 is shown.
