からインク保溜体を通ってインクタンク内に気泡として
浸入しその分だけインクが溢れ出してインク保溜体に保
溜される。また逆に軸筒からキャップを外す場合、シー
ル筒内の空気は上記の現象とは逆に減圧される事にな
り、そのためインクタンク内のインクが引き出され、や
はりインク保溜体に保留されたり、ペン先からインクを
引き出す事になる。このようにキャップの着脱の度にイ
ンク保溜体のインク保溜量が増加していき最後には保溜
能力を超過して空気孔からインクが流出したり、ペン先
からインクが漏れ出したりするす。そこで従来のインク
直接貯溜方式の筆記具のキャップは、この現象を防ぐた
めに上記のような構造を採用している。
