により所要の文字パタ−ン信号に変換される。得られた
文字パタ−ン信号は表示部駆動回路6を経て発光素子が
ドットマトリックス状に配列された文字表示部板7の各
表示要素を駆動する。ここで表示文字のうち特に強調し
たい部分については従来は文字部分と背景部分との明暗
を反転して表示する方法がしばしば用いられて来た。然
し乍ら文字の線の太さは不変で明暗(白黒)のみを反転
させると、すなわち明るい背景の中に暗い文字が表示さ
れた場合には、文字部分の細い線が背景の明るい部分の
影響を受けて文字の視認性が著しく低下することは心理
学上の効果として古くから知られていた。

トしたデ−タとして書き込むことによりさらに線幅を拡
げ得る。
