Abstract

(57)【要約】 【目的】 ゴルフプレーにおいて、バンカーなど砂地か
ら球を打つ際、砂の抵抗を減らして、球が打ち易いよう
にヘッド部分を改良したゴルフクラブである。 【構成】 クラブヘッドのフェース部の縦方向に多数の
直線上の溝を形成し、各々の溝はフェースの下端部で裏
側へ貫通開口する。 なお、文中「縦方向」「下端部」
「裏側」とは、いずれもゴルフクラブのヘッドを下に、
フェースを手前に向け、シャフトを垂直に立てたときの
状態で云う。 【効果】 砂地から打球した場合、前記溝の作用で砂は
分離され、球だけが同溝の凸部即ちフェース部で打撃さ
れる。 さらに、ヘッドが砂地に打ち込まれても同溝の
隙間から砂が排除されるため、従来のようにクラブのス
ィング時に砂の重量抵抗を受けない。

Description

【考案の詳細な説明】 この考案は，バンカー脱出用ゴルフクラブに関するものである。
従来のサンドウエッジクラブは，他のアイアン・ヘッド同様，打球面が平滑の ため，砂池（バンカー）から脱出打球する際，砂も一緒に打たなければならず， その際掬い上げる砂の量目が打力を減殺してしまうので，球の飛距離，および方 向性のコントロールが極めて難しいものとされていた。
本案は，その欠点を除くためにクラブヘッドに櫛状の隙間を設けることによっ て，打球の際にその隙間から砂を逃がす様にした。
この結果砂の抵抗が軽減されるのでグリーンまでの距離に応じて打力を調節し ，狙い通りの飛距離が簡単に得られるように改良したものである。
この効果は，単に砂だけではなく，コースを外し，薮に打ち込んだ飛球の修復 をする際にも大いに役立つことになる。
即ち，俗に言われる“草刈り”（障害物の雑草や芝草等を叩く）をせずに，球 だけを掬い打つことが可能となるので，ラフからの脱出が容易になるからである 。
