Abstract
Description
Claims (21)
- 1.立方晶窒化ケイ素(CBN)95〜60容量%および結合剤5〜40容量% の割合で粒状CBN結晶の塊ならびに、ケイ素と、チタン原子、ジルコニウム原 子およびハフニウム原子からなる群から選択される金属原子を原子比Si30M 70〜Si85M15(ここで、Mは該金属原子)で含有する結合剤とを均質に 混合し、 CBN結晶および結合剤の混合物に900〜1800℃の範囲の温度および5〜 70キロバールの範囲の圧力をかけ、結合剤のほとんどが、各々結合マトリック スの少なくとも25容量%からなる窒化ケイ素(Si3N4)およびニホウ化金 属(MB2)の均質混合物からなる結合マトリックスを形成するのに充分に、少 なくとも約30秒間、混合物に該温度および圧力を維持すること からなる主にCBNからなるコンパクトの製造方法。
- 2.結合剤がケイ素および金属原子を原子比Si40M60〜Si70M30で 含有する請求項1記載の方法。
- 3.結合剤がケイ素および金属原子を実質的に原子比Si60M40で含有する 請求項1記載の方法。
- 4.温度および圧力が連続して、CBN結晶の相当な塑性変形を生じるのに充分 な時間かけて加えられる請求項1〜3のいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 5.CBN結晶および結合剤の均質混合塊が、まず、該方法でそれに加えられる 最大圧力未満の高圧をかけられ、次いで、少なくとも800℃の高温をかけられ 、その後、加えられた圧力が該最大値に上昇される請求項4記載の方法。
- 6.加えられた圧力が約2〜15分間かけて最大値に上昇される請求項5記載の 方法。
- 7.結合剤がケイ素ならびに金属チタン、ジルコニウムおよびハフニウムのいず れか1種類以上の合金または金属間化合物の混合物からなる請求項1〜6のいず れか1項記載の方法。
- 8.結合剤中のケイ素および金属原子が全原子比Si70M30〜Si40M6 0である請求項7記載の方法。
- 9.結合剤がケイ素原子および金属原子の割合が一般に比率3:2であるケイ素 ならびに金属チタン、ジルコニウムおよびハフニウムのいずれか1種類以上の合 金または金属間化合物の混合物からなる請求項1〜8のいずれか1項記載の方法 。
- 10.CBN結晶および結合剤の均質混合塊が1200〜1800℃の範囲の最 大温度および20〜40キロバールの範囲の最大圧力をかけられる請求項1〜9 いずれか1項記載の方法。
- 11.CBN結晶によって占められた容量の大部分が粒度5ミクロンを超える結 晶粒子からなる請求項10記載の方法。
- 12.CBN結晶および結合剤の均質混合塊が1200〜1800℃の範囲の最 大温度および40キロバール〜70キロバールの範囲の最大圧力をかけられる請 求項1〜11のいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 13.CBN結晶が5ミクロンより小さい平均粒度を有する請求項12記載の方 法。
- 14.結合剤が、窒化ケイ素相中に固溶液で含有されるように窒化ケイ素の構造 に入る酸素、ホウ素およびアルミニウムからなる群から選択される原子を含有す る請求項1〜13のいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 15.ニホウ化金属が導電性相からなり、これによって、得られたコンパクトが 、それを放電加工によって造形させるのに充分に高い導電性を有する請求項1〜 14のいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 16.結合剤の割合が10〜25容量%の範囲である請求項1〜15のいずれか 1項記載の方法。
- 17.主に窒化ケイ素およびニホウ化金属MB2(ここで、Mはチタン原子、ジ ルコニウム原子およびハフニウム原子からなる群から選択された金属原子)の均 質混合物からなる結合マトリックス60〜10容量%によって結合された立方晶 窒化ケイ素(CBN)結晶40〜90容量%からなる研磨コンパクトであって、 該窒化ケイ素およびニホウ化金属が各々結合マトリックスの少なくとも25容量 %からなり、該結合マトリックスがCBN結晶間で強くかつ凝集性の結合を生成 することを特徴とする研磨コンパクト。
- 18.結合マトリックスの割合が40〜15容量%の範囲である請求項17記載 のコンパクト。
- 19.少なくとも10キロバールの圧縮強度を有する請求項17または18記載 のコンパクト。
- 20.ニホウ化物が導電性相からなり、これによって、該コンパクトが、それを 放電加工によって造形させるのに充分に高い導電性を有する請求項17〜19い ずれか1項記載のコンパクト。
- 21.CBN結晶が隣接する結晶間の境界で相当な塑性変形を示し、結合マトリ ックスが該境界に沿って隣接結晶間に浸透して連続した導電性網状結合を生成す る請求項20記載のコンパクト。
