Abstract

PURPOSE:To allow the easy execution of a contrast adjustment while making gradation display by providing an arithmetic section which adds and sub data in accordance with an external instruction after processing input data. CONSTITUTION:The digital display input data 1 of respectively m bit of a red signal (R), green signal (G) and blue signal (B) are stored in an input data processing section 2 and the respective signals R, G, B are matched in timing. The data signals processed in the input processing section 2 are then subjected to addition and subtraction according to an external signal 9 in the arithmetic section 3 and are subjected to a level shift for a contrast adjustment. The output signals of the arithmetic section 3 are converted to respectively corresponding analog signals in a gradation generating liquid crystal circuit section 4 which delivers a liquid crystal driving output signal 5. The liquid crystal display device is driven by the signal 5 by which the prescribed display is made.
