To describe a different embodiment, the hem folding device 3 may be a device that folds the end of the towel element in two. In that case, there is no second folding step described above. That is, after the state shown in FIG. 3C is reached, the ruler 17 is retracted from above the cloth receiving surface as shown in FIG. Then, in this state, the second conveying member 8 arrives on the overlapping portion 29 as shown in (G) and holds it.
Then, in the holding state, the ruler may be positioned at the preparation position as shown in (A), and the towel piece folded by the hem by the second conveying member 8 may be carried out to the next step.

As described above, according to the present invention, the cloth 26
First, when the ruler 17 is applied to the cloth 26 when the hem is folded, the ruler 17 is pre-positioned above the cloth receiving surface and straightly lowered from the cloth receiving surface, so that the cloth 26 is laterally displaced. The effect is that you can reach the correct position without

Thirdly, even if the ruler is used as described above, when the ruler 17 is removed after folding, since the overlapped portion is removed while being held by the folding member 16, the accurate size of the overlapped portion is obtained. There is an effect that can be maintained as it is.

Moreover, even in the case where the folded portion is pressed by the conveying member 8 as described above, when hem-folding one cloth as described above and then hem-folding the next cloth,
Since the ruler 17 is superposed on the upper side of the carrying member 8 in a state where the carrying member 8 is still located on the cloth receiving surface, the next cloth is replaced with the carry-out of the cloth after the hem folding. The feature is that if you bring it to the cloth receiving surface, you can immediately apply the ruler 17 to the cloth and start the hem folding work. This means that when hem-folding multiple fabrics one after another, the hem-folding cycle for each fabric must be repeated before the previous fabric cycle is completed, i.e., the fabric remains on the fabric receiving surface. During that time, the next cloth cycle can be started, that is, the ruler for the next cloth can be prepared, and there is an advantage that the start of each cycle can be sequentially advanced to the front to improve the efficiency.
