内に補強芯材3を埋設せしめる構造などが考案さ
れている。しかし、これらは何れも根本的なガス
漏れ対策とはなり得ていない。すなわち、第1図
で示した前者の強い局部面圧を得ようとするグロ
メツトA1は、ガスケツトBの歪曲や厚みの不均
一などの直接影響されて該グロメツトA1を形成
する弾性体の弾性限界を簡単に越えるから破壊さ
れ易く、また装着も面倒である。また第2図で示
した後者の補強芯材3を内含するグロメツトA2
は該補強芯材3厚みに弾性部を奪われどうしても
弾力不足になり応力破壊を起し易いなど多くの欠
点があつた。

トA3はその内周部に環状溝4を備え、該環状溝

あるいは充分な強度を有する硬質合成樹脂等で形
成され圧縮部材に接触してガスケツトBの寸法規
制をなす太さを有した補強リング5を係合させる
ことを特徴としたグロメツトA3である。

ガスケツトBの孔部2内壁によつて遮られ、内周
部も充分な強度を有する補強リング5を係合して
あるため横流れする場所を全く失つてしまうから
弾性体の該グロメツトA3内部に緊迫力が蓄積さ
れ極めて高い密封性を発揮するものとなつた。こ
の様に高い緊迫力を維持するグロメツトA3はそ
の初期目的であるシリンダーボア部からの燃焼ガ
ス圧力に負けるバツクリング現象を完全に防止す
るばかりでなく、他部材を内含するとか挟むこと
がないため応力破壊の原因となる部分的負荷がな
くなり長期間不変的な密封を約束する。

補強リング5の高さ寸法あるいは径寸法など調節
することにより簡単に所望の締付寸法と適正な圧
縮を得ることができる。
