In the above-mentioned conventional fluorescent display device, it is necessary to maintain a certain distance between the lead terminals to ensure insulation between each electrode, and at the same time, it is necessary to maintain a certain distance between the mounting holes on the printed circuit board for reasons such as machinability. There is a need to. Therefore, in a fluorescent display device with a very large number of display segments, such as a dot matrix type fluorescent display device for graphic display, the number of terminals reaches several hundred, so it is difficult to make the external size larger than necessary by forming lead terminals. invite Further, fixing hundreds of lead terminals to the mounting holes of the printed circuit board is extremely inefficient and inevitably leads to a significant increase in cost.

The present invention provides a fluorescent display tube which has a filament, a control electrode, and an anode electrode, and whose interior is kept in a vacuum by an anode substrate on which an anode is formed and a cover glass, and a wiring layer and an exterior of the fluorescent display tube. In a fluorescent display device comprising a printed circuit board on which a wiring circuit for electrical connection with a drive circuit is formed and to which the fluorescent display tube is fixed, at least one of the anode substrates extends outward from the cover glass. A fluorescent display tube having a pair of flange portions provided with connection terminals for the wiring layer; and a fluorescent display tube having a through hole through which the cover glass of the fluorescent display tube is inserted, and the flange portion having a through hole provided in the flange portion at a location in contact with the flange portion. It consists of a printed circuit board having connection terminals and corresponding wiring layers. Further, a conductive member is disposed between the connection terminal provided on the flange portion of the fluorescent display tube and the wiring layer provided on the printed circuit board.

Referring to FIG. 1a, FIG. 1b, and FIG. 1c showing one embodiment of the present invention, in the fluorescent display tube 1, as shown in FIG. A wiring layer 4 is formed using a conductive material. The wiring layer 4 has one end connected independently to a filament, an anode, and a control electrode (not shown) inside the fluorescent display tube 1, and the remaining end extends outside the cover glass 6. The flange portion 3 of the anode substrate 2 is connected to a terminal 5 made of a conductive material such as silver. On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 1b, the printed circuit board 7 has a through hole 1 slightly larger than the outer diameter of the cover glass 6 at the mounting position of the fluorescent display tube 1 in the insulating substrate 8.
0 is formed. Furthermore, one end of the wiring layer 9 of the printed circuit board 1 terminates at a position corresponding to the terminal 5 of the fluorescent display tube 1, and the remaining end is connected to an external drive circuit (not shown). It is terminated as shown. As shown in FIG. 1c, the fluorescent display tube 1 and the printed circuit board 7 configured in this manner have the cover glass 6 passing through the through hole 10, and the wiring between the terminal 5 of the fluorescent display tube 1 and the printed circuit board 7. The terminal portion of layer 9 is assembled so as to be electrically connected. Electrical connection between the fluorescent display tube 1 and the printed circuit board 7 is made by mechanical contact. However, in order to improve the reliability of the electrical connection between the two, as shown in FIG.
has elasticity between the terminal 5 of the terminal 5 and the wiring layer 9 of the printed circuit board 7, and has elasticity between the fluorescent display tube 1 and the printed circuit board 7

In the above embodiment, the photo-etching method or the printing method is used to form the terminals 5 of the fluorescent display tube 1 and the wiring layer 9 of the printed circuit board 7. As a result, the distance between the terminals 5 and the wiring layer 9 is approximately several tens to several hundreds of μm, and sufficient insulation can be ensured.

As explained above, according to the present invention, even when hundreds of terminals are required, such as in a dot matrix type fluorescent display device for graphic display, it is possible to prevent the external size of the device from increasing due to terminal formation. .
Furthermore, since no soldering is required to connect the printed circuit board and the fluorescent display tube, manufacturing costs can be reduced.
