Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic effective for preventing chapped skin and improving the luster of skin by using an active component consisting of the extract of Pyrrosia lingua which is known to be from old times as a herb drug having diuretic action. CONSTITUTION:Easily available dried whole grass of Pyrrosia lingua is extracted by stirring and heating in a water-soluble organic solvent (e.g. ethanol) or an aqueous solution of the organic solvent, the extract is filtered and the filtrate is used as a raw material for the objective cosmetic. The cosmetic containing the extract of Pyrrosia lingua is effective for preventing chapped skin, moisturizing the skin, suppressing the aging of skin and keeping the fresh skin. The extract exhibits active oxygen suppressing effect.

く、クリーム、パック、乳液等に配合することができる
。化粧料中への配合量としては、有効性と経済性を併わ
せ考えると0.0001〜0.5重量%の範囲が好まし
い。

、比較例2の評価)ニトロブルーテトラゾリウム法によ
り、活性酸素抑制能を測定した。試料は一旦、蒸発乾固
し、乳鉢で磨り潰して精製水で元の量にした。大気中に
は21%の酸素があり、これがないと生物(嫌気性のも
のを除く)は存在しえない。しかし、酸素は紫外線や酵
素等の影響を受けて活性酸素になる。活性酸素は脂肪酸
を酸化し過酸化物を生成させる。生体の生体膜のリン脂
質も酸化させ、障害を与える。且つ、生成した過酸化物
と活性酸素はDNAに損傷を与え、老化を促進すると言
われている。また、チロシンからメラニンを作る機能に
も影響を与え皮膚の黒化にも関与している。この活性酸
素を抑制することは皮膚にとって重要な、言い換えれば
化粧料に求められる重要な要素の一つである。活性酸素
を抑制する効果を測定する方法は各種あるが、今回以下
の方法を利用した。
