In addition, it grows in clusters south of the southern Kanto region of Japan, and as it is an easily available plant, it satisfies the requirements as a cosmetic raw material. To extract an effective substance, a single leaf is collected and dried, or a dried commercial product is used and extracted with a water-soluble organic solvent such as ethanol, methanol, acetone, etc.

Further, during extraction, water may be added to a water-soluble organic solvent to extract with an aqueous solution, but the amount of water is preferably 60% by weight or less. In order to extract efficiently in a short time, the extract is stirred, heated, and filtered, and the resulting liquid is used as a raw material for cosmetics.

The ethanol extract of a single leaf can be obtained in an amount of 0.00001 to 5% by weight of the dried whole plant of a single leaf, although it varies in terms of solid matter. This extract or powder is blended into cosmetics, but care must be taken in the case of lotions, as they tend to form precipitates when the ethanol concentration is low. There are no other problems in formulation, and it can be incorporated into creams, packs, emulsions, etc. The amount incorporated into cosmetics is preferably in the range of 0.0001 to 0.5% by weight, considering both effectiveness and economy.

, Evaluation of Comparative Example 2) The active oxygen suppressing ability was measured by the nitro blue tetrazolium method. The sample was once evaporated to dryness, ground in a mortar, and made up to its original volume with purified water. There is 21% oxygen in the atmosphere, and without it no living things (except anaerobic ones) could exist. However, oxygen becomes active oxygen under the influence of ultraviolet rays, enzymes, etc. Active oxygen oxidizes fatty acids and generates peroxides. It also oxidizes phospholipids in the biological membranes of living organisms, causing damage. Additionally, the generated peroxides and active oxygen are said to damage DNA and accelerate aging. It also affects the ability to produce melanin from tyrosine and is involved in the darkening of the skin. Suppressing this active oxygen is important for the skin, in other words, it is one of the important elements required for cosmetics. There are various methods to measure the effect of suppressing active oxygen, but this time we used the following method.

0.3 ml of the solution was added and the absorbance (560 nm) was immediately measured. Measurements are made in 2nd quartiles to confirm linearity. Calculation formula As a result of this measurement, the concentration for inhibiting active oxygen production by 50% was 1.6% in Example 2, and 1.6% in Comparative Example 2. Even with the undiluted solution, there was no inhibition of 50%.
