Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of odor and burn a water absorbent easily and efficiently by cooling a high-molecular water absorbent which absorbs a large volume of water to freeze and solidified it and crushing it to fines by mechanical crushing, etc., and then burning and incinerating the fines. CONSTITUTION:A high-molecular water absorbent is introduced into a refrigerating chamber 2 by a conveyor 1 to be refrigerated. The high-molecular water absorbent that is refrigerated in the refrigerating chamber 2 is charged into a mechanical crusher 5 to be crushed. The high-molecular water absorbent that is crushed is charged into the hopper 7 by a conveyor 6. The high-molecular water absorbent that is taken out from the bottom of the hopper 7 is supplied to an incinerator 9 of fluidized bed type by a supplier 8. The incinerator 9 of fluidized bed type is provided with dispersion plates 10 and 11 in two stages to form fluidized beds 12 and 13 in two stages vertically. The fluidized bed 12 on the side of the lower stage is a fluidized bed for incineration and it is supplied with the air and auxiliary fuel (for instance, liquid fuel such as heavy oil, or gas) through the dispersion plate 12 and a suitable fluidized bed by a fluidizing medium is formed. In this fluidized bed the high-molecular water absorbent burns with the auxiliary fuel.

[Prior Art] In recent years, demand for disposable disposable diapers using polymeric water-absorbing materials has been increasing due to improved water-absorbing performance, lower prices due to mass production, and changes in lifestyles. In addition, the demand is likely to increase further due to the aging of the population. Therefore, the disposal of discarded disposable diapers becomes an important issue.

Currently, waste materials using polymeric water absorbing materials, such as disposable diapers, are incinerated along with general household and municipal waste in large municipal waste incinerators. Or, they are simply disposed of in a landfill.

[Problem to be solved by the invention 1 However, used polymeric water absorbing material weighs several tens of times more than its own weight.
It absorbs hundreds of times more water, and its shape is difficult to collapse, so it is disposed of in large chunks. Burning and incinerating a large amount of such heavy and large materials requires special stirring operations and a long residence time in the incinerator, making incineration processing extremely difficult in a general incinerator.

[Function] Water-absorbing materials such as polymeric water-absorbing materials that have absorbed a large amount of water are very difficult to crush as they are, but by cooling and freezing and solidifying them, they can be easily pulverized by mechanical crushing or the like. If it is finely pulverized, it can be easily melted, dried, and burned in a short time in the subsequent combustion and incineration process using an incinerator or the like. Note that most of the frozen and solidified water-absorbing material returns to a molten state through a crushing process such as mechanical crushing, so the frozen state does not pose an obstacle to combustion.

Moreover, according to the method of claim (3), by mixing the frozen, solidified and pulverized material with sludge and then incinerating it, sludge treatment can be carried out simultaneously. In other words, improvements have been desired in the combustion and incineration treatment of sludge such as wastewater and surplus sewage sludge. Since the material absorbs more water from the mixed sludge, it is possible to adjust the water content of the sludge and also adjust the calorific value of the sludge. It becomes easier. Of course, even if the water absorbing material is used alone, combustion treatment is very easy.
