Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an artificial rock-like reef for safe and ready leisure diving by standing a skeleton on a concrete base, forming a foundation layer and a sprayed layer of fiber reinforced mortar on the surface of the skeleton and arranging a television camera on a proper spot. CONSTITUTION:A skeleton comprising iron, reinforcing rod or plastic is stood on a concrete base 1, a sprayed foundation layer 3 is formed on the surface of the skeleton by using an expand metal or a welded wire net and nonwoven fabric. A sprayed layer 4 of fiber reinforced mortar is made on the surface of the sprayed foundation layer by spraying a net fiber reinforced mortar, an inorganic fiber reinforced mortar or an organic fiber reinforced mortar to give an artificial rock-like reef. An underwater television camera 8 is arranged at a proper spot of the sprayed layer of fiber reinforced mortar of the artificial rock-like reef.

Interest in marine recreation has increased in recent years, and marine leisure has become a boom, with the number of leisure divers in particular rapidly increasing. However, most places suitable for diving, where the underwater scenery is spectacular and there are schools of fish, are located offshore, making them dangerous and leading to the occurrence of diving accidents. Therefore, it is desired to provide a place and method for enjoying diving more safely and more easily.

It is close to the shore, the waves are calm, the current is small, and even beginners can easily and safely dive, but there are few fish, the underwater scenery is not good, or the sandy place prevents fish from the shore. By sinking the above-mentioned artificial rock reef, it is possible to artificially and easily create a suitable environment similar to that of offshore diving sites (fish swimming in schools and excellent underwater scenery), and it is possible to create a recreational environment. Diving can be performed more safely and easily.
