In recent years, there has been a trend toward higher-quality packaging paper, and with this trend, there has been a demand for high-quality or unique packaging paper that not only looks good, but also has a tactile feel. Bead pigments are used to produce packaging paper with a suede-like appearance, which is a type of packaging paper with a high-class feel.
An attempt was made to use a paint containing fine powder of pigment, called granules, dispersed in a synthetic resin, that is, pigment particles coated with a synthetic resin. However, to obtain a suede-like appearance, the thickness of the coating must be at least 10 μm, generally 25 μm or more. Even if we try to form such a thick film by applying paint directly to paper, the amount of paint absorbed varies depending on the fiber density of the paper, resulting in unevenness and a beautiful appearance cannot be obtained. do not have. [Problems to be Solved by the Invention] An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing suede-like packaging paper having a beautiful appearance. [Means for Solving the Problems] As shown in FIG. 1, the method for manufacturing suede-like packaging paper of the present invention includes bead pigments contained in a plastic auxiliary film (2) having heat resistance and solvent resistance. The process consists of applying a coating material to form a coating film (1), and laminating the auxiliary film onto paper (3) suitable for packaging so that this coating film becomes the surface. In this way, the wrapping paper shown in FIG. 2 is obtained. Paper suitable for packaging is paper that is flexible, easy to bend, and can protect the product to a certain extent. Specifically, it includes high-quality paper,
These include tissue paper and kraft paper. You may also use one with a desired picture or pattern printed on its surface. The plastic used for the auxiliary film must have heat resistance to withstand the heat applied when the applied paint dries, and solvent resistance to the extent that it will not dissolve or swell due to the solvent in the paint. The degree of heat resistance varies depending on the solvent used, the coating composition, the heating temperature and heating method during drying, and the heat resistance is usually 40 to 15.
In this temperature range, the ability to withstand temperatures of 0°C and solvent resistance is limited to esters such as ethyl acetate and butyl acetate, ketones such as methyl ethyl ketone and methyl isobutyl ketone, and aromatic carbons such as benzene, toluene, and xylene. Hydrogen, aliphatic hydrocarbons such as hexane, alcohols such as methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, butyl alcohol, etc.
It must be resistant to cyclohexanone, ethylene glycol, or mineral spirits. The time to withstand the hot solvent is 1 to 300 seconds.
Among the commonly used plastics, polyester, especially polyethylene terephthalate, is the most suitable, but polypropylene, which has excellent solvent resistance and is relatively heat resistant, is also suitable.
Polymethylpentene, cellulose triacetate, and polyarylate can be selected depending on the coating air drying conditions. If a thick auxiliary film is used, the flexibility of the paper will be impaired when it is formed into packaging paper, so it is best to choose one that is as thin as possible, preferably 25 μm or less. If a colorless or transparent auxiliary film or a colored transparent one is selected, the color of the paper and the printed layer can be seen through, and if an opaque one is used, good concealment properties can be obtained. If the auxiliary film is treated in advance to facilitate adhesion, such as by corona discharge or by applying a primer, it will be easier to coat the film with paint, so carry out this process as necessary. If desired, a pattern may be printed on one or both sides of the auxiliary film. The paint may be applied to the auxiliary film by a conventional method such as gravure coating or roll coating. In particular, when it is desired to form a thick film of 10 μm or more, a reverse roll coater, comma coater, flow coater or knife coater may be used. Almost any paint can be used, including two-component urethane paints, as long as it contains bead pigments, so any paint can be selected.
Paints containing bead pigments have a high matte effect, and are matte when viewed from the opposite direction, making it possible to form a suede-like paint film with a soft texture. If a resilient synthetic resin is used to cover the pigment particles,
The matte coating has the advantage of not being scratched even if something hits it because of its resilience. As mentioned above, bead pigments include Fe2O3, TlO2
, CaCO3, quinacridone, etc., and elastic resins such as polyurethane, acrylic resin, epoxy, polyester, nylon, fluororesin, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, or a plasticizer if necessary. , a stabilizer, a surfactant, etc., are dispersed and made into particles, and the particle size varies depending on the thickness of the coating film to be formed, but the distribution range is 5 to 80 μm. Particularly preferred are those in which the maximum of the distribution is in the range of 10 to 35μ. The color of the bead pigment may be selected as desired. For example, if you use colorless and transparent bead pigments, you can create a deep matte coating, and if you combine bead pigments of two or more colors, you can create a matte surface with a wide variety of variations. The auxiliary film and paper may be laminated according to known methods such as dry lamination, extrusion lamination, and thermal fusion using a hot melt adhesive. This wrapping paper can be subjected to post-processing such as embossing. [Function] In the method for manufacturing packaging paper of the present invention, a paint is first applied to a plastic auxiliary film to form a suede-like coating film with a thickness of -. Next, by laminating the dried film onto paper suitable for packaging, packaging paper can be obtained while maintaining the suede-like appearance. In this way, it is possible to prevent the influence of differences in paper fiber density on the coating film thickness, and to provide a suede-like coating film with a beautiful appearance and no gloss. [Example 1] Blue pigment coated with polyurethane, particle size 5-80
Iin, a bead pigment with a particle size distribution maximum of about 30tim, was added to a two-component curable urethane paint in the following formulation. Bead pigment 17% polyester urethane 12.6% ethyl acetate
12% methyl isobutyl ketone
8% toluene 48%

It was heated to 140° C. for 1 minute to harden and then rolled up. The thickness of the coating film is 25 μm. The above-mentioned film was dry laminated on a high-quality paper having a weight of 50 g/rd to obtain a packaging paper having a suede-like matte appearance. [Example 21 A pattern was printed on bleached kraft paper of 100 q/rd by offset printing, and a polyethylene terephthalate film coated with the same paint as that used in Example 1 was dry laminated thereon. The packaging paper thus obtained had an appearance suggestive of a suede-like matte surface and a pattern visible through the suede-like layer. [Example 3] A pattern was printed by gravure printing on thin paper with a basis weight of 239/m, and a polyethylene terephthalate film coated with the same paint as that used in Example 1 was dry laminated thereon. Similar to the product of Example 2, this wrapping paper also had an appearance with a suede-like matte surface and a pattern that could be seen through it. [Effects of the Invention] According to the method of the present invention, it is possible to produce a suede-like packaging paper that has a beautiful appearance without unevenness. The packaging paper produced by the method of the present invention has an excellent appearance and feel, and has a luxurious feel. It also has a certain degree of waterproofness and increased strength, so it has high performance as packaging paper.
