Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the subject agent especially for edible plants by compounding a tea polyphenol compound such as tea catechin compound or tea teaflavin compound as a main ingredient. CONSTITUTION:The subject preventing agent contains a tea polyphenol compound (e.g. epicathechin or teaflavin) such as a compound of formula I (R1 is H, OH; R2 is H or group of formula II) or a compound of formula III (R3, R4 are H or group of formula II). The preventing agent is active against grape KYOHO (a kind of the grape) crown gall, tomato bacteria canker, lettuce rot, eggplant bacteria spot, etc., and after dissolved in water, alcohol, etc., in a concentration of 50-1000ppm, the preventing agent is directly sprayed or coated on a plant or is absorbed from the root thereof. The tea polyphenol compound is a natural substance, is safe for human bodies and strongly acts on the bacteria of the plant diseases.

[Prior art and problems to be solved by the invention] Bacterial plant diseases are caused by infection of plants with pathogenic bacteria, and the symptoms include rotting and spotting of crops, resulting in a significant decrease in commercial value. Once a crop is infected with a bacterial plant disease, farmers suffer severe damage due to its soil transmission.
