Abstract

PURPOSE:To operate an electric light automatically as necessary, by pulling the string of a string switch connected to a shape memorizing-alloy to actuate the switch when the shape memory alloy is heated into a memorized shape. CONSTITUTION:The driving section 1 of a string switch 3 is mounted integral with or adjacent to an electric light mainframe 8 under an electric light so that the string switch 3 may be operated. The drive section 1 includes a coil-like shape memory alloy 11 and a heater 12 as a heating device which is installed on the lower end thereof and tied with the one end of the string 6 of the string switch 3. In addition, a control section 2 is provided for sending signals to turn on a power supply connection section so that the heater 12 can be put in a heated state and the shape memory alloy 11 can be in a memorizing shape. The shape memory alloy 11 is driven by heating and natural cooling. It is thus possible to perform lighting, on or off, automatically.
