Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent sticking of a magnetic head to the surface of a magnetic disk medium on starting of floating of the head by providing a retracting area for the magnetic head in a manner that the retracting area has a lubricating film layer thinner than that of a CSS area and data area on the magnetic disk medium. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic disk medium consists of a nonmagnetic body 1, magnetic film layer 2 having specified thickness, and lubricating film layer 3a successively formed on the nonmagnetic body, and is used for a magnetic disk unit of contact-start-stop (CSS) system. A retracting area comprising a thinner lubricating film layer 3b is provided on the inner circumference area of the CSS area and data area of the medium. By moving a magnetic head to the retracting area just before stopping the magnetic disk unit, sticking of the head to the surface of the disk medium can be prevented at starting of floating of the head.

媒体では耐久性の向上を図るために非磁性支持体10両
面上に磁性膜層2を形成し、この磁性膜層2上に潤滑剤
を塗布し、所定の一定膜厚の潤滑膜層3を形威させてい
る。

一体的に成膜されて退避領域が形成されている。

磁気ヘッドの浮上開始時に生じる磁気ディスク媒体面と
の吸着を無くすことができる。1た、CSS領域および
データ領域の潤滑膜層の膜厚を厚くでき、耐久性を向上
させることができるという効果がある。
