Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a magnetic recording medium suitable for a magnetic disk device capable of coping with high density recording, to prevent the attraction of a magnetic head without providing the magnetic disk device with a particular mechanism and to reduce the cost by providing the landing area part of the magnetic head forming ruggedness in the outer circumferential part of a data recording area part which is smooth in surface roughness. SOLUTION: This magnetic disk 1 is suitable for a magnetic disk device capable of coping with high density magnetic recording and since a magnetic head is designed in low floating at a CSS control time, the data recording area 3 of a disk main body 2 is very smooth. The landing area part 5 of the magnetic head is provided in the outer circumferential part of the data recording area part 3 of the disk main body 2. In this landing area part 5 a ragged part 6 is formed in an annular shape along the whole circumference on a prescribed circumference by a laser. Consequently, it is not necessary to provide an expensive landing mechanism in particular and the attraction of the magnetic head at the landing time can be prevented.
