Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent clogging of an ink jet head from happening and improve the recording properties by a method wherein members which constitute an ink chamber which communicates with an ink discharge port and an air chamber which communicates with an air discharge port are covered by a polyimide resin. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a body member 13 which constitutes an ink chamber is covered by a polyimide resin 14. Also, an air chamber is covered in the same manner. For the covering method of the body member 13 by the polyimide resin 14, the body member 13 is ultrasonic-washed by an organic solvent such as trichloroethylene or 1,1,1-trichloroethane, etc. Then, the body 13 is immersed in a tank which is filled with a polyimide solution having an appropriate viscosity. Then, the body member 13 is taken out of the polyimide tank, and after removing an excess solution, the body member 13 is baked at 350 deg.C to form a cover of the polyimide resin 14. The thickness of thus formed polyimide film is controlled in a range of several mum - several 10mum, and an ink is prevented from coming directly into contact with the body member 13, and erosion by the ink can be prevented from happening.
