Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔産業上の利用分野〕 本発明はパッケージにシールされた輪郭ストリップを有
する開閉可能なパッケージに関する。更に詳しくは、本
発明は開閉可能な要素を形成した輪郭ストリップの改良
した設計に関する。
〔従来の技術〕
パッケージの中身を取り出し可能に閉じ込めるための開
閉可能な輪郭ストリップすなわちジッパ−付の種々の型
式のパッケージを提供することは良く知られている。そ
のようなパッケージは、食品又は食べられない物品のよ
うな種々の品物を入れるのに用いられる。輪郭ストリッ
プの開閉可能な機構の代表的設計が、ナイト−（Ｎａｉ
ｔｏ）に付与された米国特許第３．１９８．２２８号に
開示されている。
ナイト−は、リブすなわち雌閉鎖部材と、合い溝すなわ
ち雌閉鎖部材とを備え、この２つの部材を互に向い合せ
てパッケージの開放端の内側に沿って形成した、閉鎖具
すなわち噛み合わせ手段を開示する。雌閉鎖部材と雌閉
鎖部材は圧力で噛み合わせ、かつ外すことができ、圧力
留め・外し可能な閉鎖機構を形成する。ナイト−は又、
雌閉鎖部材の各側に１つずつ位置決めして、雌閉鎖部材
に取付けられた一対の支持レールを開示する。
ある適用では輪郭ストリップはパッケージ材料と一体に
形成され、他の適用では輪郭ストリップは別体に形成さ
れ、パッケージにシールされる。
どちらの場合でも、ストリップはパッケージに完全に取
付けられる。
噛み合わせ閉鎖機構の設計の共通の解決法は、力の生ず
る源に応じて機構を外すのに異なる力を必要とする装置
を提供することであった。外す力は、静止した状態であ
るいは落下、転倒又は衝撃でパッケージの中身によって
及ぼされる力のような、閉鎖機構の内側（パッケージ側
）から生ずるか、あるいはパッケージに入れようとして
人によって加えられる力のような、閉鎖機構の外側から
生ずる。これらの装置は、内側から噛み合わせ閉鎖機構
を開くのに必要とされる力が、外側からこの機構を開く
のに必要とされる力よりも大きいように設計された。そ
のような設計の例は、ナイト−の米国特許第３．１９８
．２２８号及びオースニット（Ａｕｓｎｉｔ）の米国特
許第４．７３６．４５１号の特許に開示される。これら
の設計は、外側から噛み合わせ閉鎖機構を開くのに必要
とされる力が小さいため、不用意に開かられやすいこと
がわかった。
噛み合わせ閉鎖機構の設計への別の珍しい解決法は、平
均的使用者の心理を考慮して設計された。
使用者は外側から容易に開くことができる噛み合わせ閉
鎖機構に懐疑的な傾向がある、なぜなら使用者はかかる
機構が内側から作用する力に対する抵抗が不十分である
ことを恐れるからである。かくして、外側から外すのに
、内側からと同じ力を必要とする噛み合わせ閉鎖機構が
設計された。かかる設計の例が、ジーゲル（Ｓｉｅｇｅ
ｌ）に付与された米国特許第３．６３３．６４２号に開
示されている。パッケージの中身を収容し、あるいは維
持するほど強く、同時にパッケージへの入れにくさを使
用者に生じさせるほどは強くない、許容できる範囲の噛
み合わせ力が存在することがわかった。
〔発明が解決しようとする課題〕
本発明の目的は、後者の珍しい解決法の目的と一致して
いる開閉可能な輪郭ストリップのための改良された設計
を提供することである。従って、本発明の目的は、外す
のに単一の力を必要とし、不用意に開きにくい輪郭スト
リップのための改良された設計を提供することである。
これらの目的のために、本発明は外す力が外側で生ずる
か内側で生ずるかに無関係に輪郭ストリップに作用する
外す力の経路を限定する。かくして、内側からあるいは
外側から輪郭ストリップを外して、パッケージを開くの
に必要とされる力は単一で最小である。たった１つの運
動が輪郭ストリップに考えられ、か（してたった１つの
外れ抵抗を設ければよい。本発明は、外側からうっかり
開く問題をなくし、上述した使用者の心理と一層合致す
る。たった１つの外れ抵抗方法が必要であることにより
、設計を簡単にし、必要な材料が少なくてすむ。
〔課題を解決するための手段〕
これらの目的及び他の目的のために、本発明は、パッケ
ージ、パッケージ開放端でパッケージにシールされた第
１輪郭ストリップ及び第２輪郭ストリップ、第１輪郭ス
トリップに形成された離開鎖部材、離開鎖部材の内側で
第１輪郭ストリップに形成されたポスト部材、第２輪郭
ストリップに形成されパッケージ用の開閉可能な閉鎖機
構を形成するため、圧力下で離開鎖部材と合うことがで
きる離開鎖部材、からなる。パッケージに最初に作用す
るあらゆる外す力が単一経路を通してストリップに差し
向けられるように、輪郭ストリップは限られた領域でパ
ッケージに固着される。ポスト部材は、離開鎖部材の一
部分とくさび作用あるいは回動形相互作用により外れ抵
抗を更に加えるほど離開鎖部材に近く位置決めされる。
本発明とその利点は、添付図面を参照して、以下の詳細
な説明を考慮することにより最も良く理解されよう。
〔実施例〕
第１図は、本発明を具体化する開閉可能な輪郭ストリッ
プ２０及び３０を有するパッケージ１０を示す。パッケ
ージ１０と輪郭ストリップ２０及び３０は同じ材料、好
ましくは約９．００　、ｇ　ｍ／　ｃｎ？から９．６０
　ｇｍ／ｃｎ？の密度を有するポリエチレンで形成する
ことができる。ポリプロピレン及びポリブチレンを含む
広範囲の他の材料も又、パッケージ１０に適しており、
又上記の種々の混合物を含む登録商標「サルリン（Ｓｕ
ｒＬｙｎ）Ｊの下にデュポン（ＤｕＦｏｎｔ）から市販
されているイオノマー樹脂が輪郭ストリップ２０及び３
０に適している。
パッケージ１０は、代表的には上層フィルム１２と下層
フィルム１４とからなる。パッケージＩＯは、周側（図
示せず）でフィルム１２と１４を互いにヒートシールす
ることによって、在来の仕方で形成される。パッケージ
フィルム１２．１４はパッケージｌＯの外側に、フラン
ジ１１．１３を構成し、これによって第２図と第３図に
示すようにパッケージ１０を引張って開くことができる
。パッケージ１０を種々の食品あるいは他の食べられな
い物品を入れるのに用いても良い。本発明と共に用いる
ことができる食品パッケージの例が、１９８９年４月２
４日付の関連米国特許出願第０７／３４２，２５７号「
開閉可能なパッケージの形成方法、これに用いられる輪
郭、及びこれによって製造したパッケージ」に説明され
、図示されており、これを全体として参考にここに組み
込んである。
第１図を再度参照すると、輪郭ストリップ２０．３０は
直接、ヒートシールバー（図示せず）によってパッケー
ジのフィルム１２．１４にそれぞれ取付けられるのが好
ましい。先に参照した米国特許出願第０７／３４２，２
５７号は取付の別の方法を開示する。取付のその他の許
容される方法は、熱風シール、高周波シールおよび超音
波ヒートシールであり、これらはすべてこの技術分野で
周知である。ヒートシールは、ウェブ裏張り部材１８．
１９とパッケージフィルム１２．１４それぞれとの間の
境界に適用される。
第２図ないし第４図で最も良くわかるように、ウェブ裏
張り部材１８．１９はパッケージフィルム１２．１４に
完全には取付けられずに、ヒートシールが輪郭スカート
１６と呼ばれる一定領域に適用される。輪郭スカート１
６は全体的に、閉鎖部材２２．３２のところであるいは
それより上で、輪郭ストリップ２０．３０の外側に設け
られる。輪郭スカート１６の位置決めの作用及び輪郭ス
トリップ２０．３０の外し動作を以下により詳細に説明
する。
輪郭ストリップ２０．３０は、ウェブ裏張り部材１８．
１９、離開鎖部材２２、離開鎖部材３２、及び輪郭スト
リップ２０に取付けられ輪郭ストリップ２０の内側に設
けられた少なくとも１つのポスト部材４０を含む。噛み
合わせの離開鎖部材２２と離開鎖部材３２の好ましい外
形が先に参照したナイト−（Ｎａｉｔｏ）の米国特許第
３．１９８．２２８号に説明され図示されており、これ
も又全体として参考にここに組み込んである。
第１図ないし第５図でわかるように、離開鎖部材２２の
横断面は、全体的にやじりの形状をなしている。離開鎖
部材２２は輪郭ストリップ２０の全長に沿って延び、か
つ首部２４と頭部２６とを有し、この頭部２６は溝要素
２７．２８と呼ばれるアンダーカット部分を有する。溝
要素２８は一般的には溝要素２７よりも雄ウェブ裏張り
部材１８に近く位置決めされる。溝要素２８はウェブ裏
張り部材１８に向かって下向きに傾斜し、軸線Ａと角度
θをなす。溝要素２７は、軸線Ａにほぼ垂直である。
畦間鎖部材３２は輪郭ストリップ３０の全長に沿って延
び、一対のステム３３．３４とフック３５．３６からな
り、その組合せは離開鎖部材２２の矢じり形状にほぼ一
致する。フック３４は、フック３６よりも雌ウェブ裏張
り部材１９に近く位置決めされる。フック３６は軸線Ａ
と角度α（示さず）をなし、ウェブ裏張り部材１９に向
かって上向きに傾斜している。ポスト部材４０は、横断
面がほぼ矩形であり、輪郭ストリップ２０の全長に沿っ
て延びる。ポスト部材４０は離開鎖部材２２の内側に設
けられ、以下に説明するように輪郭ストリップ２０と３
０を係合させるとき、ステム３４とフック３６をポスト
部材４０と離開鎖部材２２の間の空間に係合させるほど
離開鎖部材２２に近い。
輪郭ストリップ２０．３０の離開鎖部材２２、畦間鎖部
材３２及びポスト部材４０の係合は、第１図で最も良く
わかる。離開鎖部材２２と畦間鎖部材３２をパッケージ
１０の外部から指で押すと、離開鎖部材２２の頭部２６
が畦間鎖部材３２のフック３５及び３６と接触する。頭
部２６により及ぼされた圧力に応答して、ステム３３．
３４及びフック３５．３６は外向き方向に押し開かれて
、離開鎖部材２２を受は入れる。ステム３４とフック３
６が外方に押されると、ステム３４とフック３６はポス
ト部材４０に当り、ポスト部材４０を同じ方向に外方に
押す。離開鎖部材２２が前進すルト、ついにステム３３
．３４はそれらの最初の位置（軸線Ａに平行）に戻り、
溝要素２７．２８はそれぞれフック３５．３６によって
捕捉される。
ステム３４がその最初の位置に戻ると、ポスト部材４０
も最初の位置（やはり軸線Ａに平行）になり、これによ
り、ステム３４とフック３６を離開鎖部材２２とポスト
部材４０の間の空間に係合させる。
輪郭ストリップ２０及び３０を外すように作用する力（
第２図ないし第４図にＦとして示す）は、第２図及び第
３図で最も良（わかるように外側からか、あるいは第４
図で最も良くわかるように内側から生ずる。内側からの
力はパッケージ１０の中身によりパッケージフィルム１
２及び１４に及ぼされるものである。外側からの力は、
フランジ１１及び１３を引っばってパッケージを外側か
ら開けようとして消費者によって加えられるものである
。既に説明したように、輪郭ストリップ２０．３０とパ
ッケージフィルム１２．１４の間のシールは、輪郭スカ
ート１６と呼ばれる領域に集中しており、閉鎖部材２２
．３２のところで又はそれより上で、輪郭ストリップ２
０．３０の外側に位置決めさている。輪郭スカート１６
の位置の結果、外す力が内側から生ずるか（パッケージ
中身により生じた）、外側から生ずるか（消費者により
生じた）に無関係に上述した外す力は輪郭スカート１６
を経て輪郭ストリップ２０及び３０に伝えられる。かく
して、輪郭ストリップに及ぼされる外す力の経路が１つ
だけであり、それゆえ、これらの力に抵抗する方法も１
つだけが必要とするにすぎない。
第２図及び第３図は、輪郭ストリップ２０及び３０の外
し中の離開鎖部材２２、畦間鎖部材３２及びポスト部材
４０の相対的移動を示す。外す力が輪郭スカート１６を
経て加えられると、輪郭ストリップ２０及び３０は反対
方向に引っばられ、離開鎖部材２２と畦間鎖部材３２は
、互に斜めになり始める。フック３５は溝要素２７に沿
って移動し、ついには外れる。その間、フック３６は離
開鎖部材２２から遠ざかる方向に溝要素２８に沿って移
動する。溝要素２８とフック３６の傾めの向きは相互に
作用して溝要素２８に沿うフック３６の移動に抵抗する
。ポスト部材４０の位置は、フック３６が溝要素２８に
沿って移動しつづけるとき、ステム３４とフック３６が
ポスト部材４０に当たるような位置である。ポスト部材
４０はステム３４とフック３６からの圧力に応答して外
方に曲がり、ポスト部材４０、ステム３４、フック３６
、及び離開鎖部材２２の間にくさび作用あるいは回動形
相夏作用を起こし、これにより、外れ抵抗を更に高める
。力が輪郭スカート１６を経て加えられつづけると、フ
ック３６は肩要素２８に沿って移動しつづけ、ついには
外れて、輪郭ストリップ２０と３０の分離を完了し、パ
ッケージｌＯを開く。
本発明の動作の先の説明から明らかなように、輪郭スト
リップ２０及び３０の種々の構成部品の相対的寸法、向
き及び位置は、噛み合わせ強度（外れ抵抗）と物品の能
率的動作に影響する。好ましい実施例では、ステム３３
．３４の幅は各０゜２５ｍｍ（０，０１インチ）である
。雌ウェブ裏張り部材１９の外縁からフック３５の端ま
での距離は、約１．１４ｍｍ（０，０４５インチ）から
約１．２７　ｍｍ（０，０５０インチ）である。首部２
４の幅は約０゜３８ｍｍ　（０，０１５インチ）である
。角度θは約７５度であり、雄ウェブ裏張り部材１８の
外縁から頭部２６の頂部までの距離は約１．１４　ｍｍ
（０，０４５インチ）から約１．２７ｍｍ　（０，０５
０インチ）である。
ステム３４及び３５の間の隙間は０．５１ｍｍ（０，０
２０インチ）の範囲丙にある。
輪郭ストリップ２０．３０が係合するとき、ステム３４
とフック３６が外し中、ポスト部材４０に十分に接触す
るように、ポスト部材４０は少なくともフック３６のア
ンダーカット部０分と同じくらいの高さであるべきであ
る。ポスト部材４０は又、離開鎖部材２２に十分近く位
置決めされ、係合中、ステム３４とフック３６の十分な
案内と安定性をもたらし、かつ前述したように外し中く
さび作用あるいは回動形相夏作用を行なう。好ましい実
施例では、輪郭ストリップ２０及び３０を係合させたと
き、ポスト部材４０はステム３４にちょうど接触する。
ここに説明した好ましい実施例の上述した寸法は、約０
．６８　ｋｇ　（１，５ポンド）から約１．１ｋｇ（２
，５ポンド）の外し力をもった輪郭ストリップを明らか
にする。
ヒートシールは、パッケージｌＯに日常加えられる種々
の力の作用で分離せず、あるいは破れない程の強度のも
のでなければならない。特に、シールは輪郭ストリップ
２０及び３０を外すのに必要とされる力よりも少なくと
も強くなければならない。シールの強度は、輪郭スカー
ト１６の面積に関係する。好ましい実施例では、輪郭ス
カート１６は輪郭ストリップ２０及び３０の長さに沿っ
て延び、約０．１０ｍｍ　（０，００４インチ）から約
０゜１８ｍｍ　（０，００ツイフチ）の厚さである（外
側から内側までを測定した）。
本発明の上述した実施例が好ましいが、当業者は本発明
の真の範囲から逸脱しない構成、組成等の変更を認識す
るであろう。特に、第５図でわかるように、追加のポス
ト部材４０’及び４０′を加えても良く、これにより輪
郭ストリップ２０及び３０の噛み合わせ強度を高め、係
合の案内を更に行う。追加のポスト部材４０′及び４０
′は最初のポスト部材４０と同様に位置決めされ、輪郭
ストリップ２０と３０の間を変える。ポスト部材４０’
　　４０’を、外し中、ポスト部材間の接触を可能にす
るほど隣接したポスト部材に近く位置決めすべきである
。その上、閉鎖部材２２．３２とポスト部材４０のウェ
ブ裏張り部材１８．１９に対する向きの角度を゛変えて
、噛み合わせ強度を更に調整することができる。更に、
輪郭ストリップ及びパッケージ間の境界領域が上述した
仕方の輪郭スカート領域に制限される限り、この輪郭ス
トリップをパッケージ材料と一体に形成することができ
る。そのようなすべての変更は、特許請求の範囲によっ
て包含されるものである。

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 開放端とパッケージ端を有するパッケージと、前記開放
    端で前記パッケージに取付けられた第１輪郭ストリップ
    及び第２輪郭ストリップと、前記第１輪郭ストリップに
    形成されたリブ手段と、 前記第１輪郭ストリップに形成され、前記リブ手段と前
    記パッケージ端との間に位置決めされたポスト手段と、 前記第２輪郭ストリップに形成され、前記パッケージを
    閉鎖するため圧力で前記リブ手段にはめることができる
    溝手段と、からなり、 前記溝手段は又、圧力により前記リブ手段から外すこと
    ができ、 前記第１輪郭ストリップは前記リブ手段と前記開放端と
    の間に設けられた第１限定領域で前記パッケージに取付
    けられ、前記第２輪郭ストリップは前記溝手段と前記開
    放端との間に設けられた第２限定領域で前記パッケージ
    に取付けられており、前記ポスト手段は、外し中、前記
