Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent peeling and cutting of a chip-on-flexible tape (COF) against the expansion and contraction effect, oscillation and impact of a supporting base by fixing a part of the COF by an adhesive agent or tacky adhesive tape to at least either of a panel or driving circuit board (BUS-PCB). CONSTITUTION:The output side of the COF 3 is thermocompression bonded to the panel 1 and the input side of the COF 3 is packaged by soldering to the BUS-PCB 2. The adhesive agent 7 is applied to a part of the COF 3 and is fixed to the BUS-PCB 2. The breakage in the input part of the COF 3 by the expansion and contraction effect of the supporting base 4 is prevented in this way and in addition, the strength to the oscillation and impact is enhanced. The generation of the breakage by the exertion of load to the COF 3 during the process is prevented as well.

Conventionally, as shown in Figures 3(a) and (b), a liquid crystal display panel (hereinafter referred to as panel) 1 has a liquid crystal drive circuit mounted on a flexible tape (hereinafter referred to as COF (chip-on-flexible tape)). A drive circuit board (hereinafter referred to as BUS-PCB) 2 was mounted to transmit electrical signals between the COFs. In such a structure, it has been known that the C0F3 and the panel 1 are connected by thermocompression bonding, and the C0F3 and the BUS-PCB2 are connected by soldering.

Therefore, the present invention aims to solve these problems.
The purpose is to tuft a highly reliable liquid crystal display device against the expansion and contraction action of the support base.

The liquid crystal display device of the present invention is a liquid crystal display device in which a liquid crystal display panel, a drive circuit board, and a COF (chip-on-flexible tape) are connected together. It is characterized by being adhesively fixed to at least one side.

It was fixed at 2. This not only prevents the input section of the C0F3 from breaking due to the expansion and contraction of the support base 4, but also increases the vibration resistance and impact resistance. Furthermore, it was also possible to prevent the COF from being overloaded during the process and from running out. Note that the same effect was obtained even when adhesive tape was used instead of adhesive.

In contrast to Example 1, adhesive 7 was applied to the output side of C0F3 to fix panel 1 and C0F3. This prevented the output part of C0F3 from peeling off due to the expansion and contraction action of the support base 4. As in Example 1, it also has strong vibration resistance and impact resistance, and it is also possible to prevent peeling due to the load of C0F3 during the process.

As described above, according to the present invention, by fixing a part of the COF to at least one of the panel or the BUS-PCB with adhesive or adhesive tape, the COF This has the effect of preventing peeling and cutting. It also has the effect of preventing the COF from peeling off or breaking due to the load on the COF during the process.
