【発明の詳細な説明】
本発明は改善された光電池特性を持ったシリコン、その
製造方法及び太陽電池の製造にそれを使用する方法に関
する。

本発明を要約すると以下のとおりである。本発明に従え
ば、酸素及び炭素の合計含有率が3−200 ppmで

シリコンは、多様な用途に使用されている。電子工業に
おいては、目的に合うように調整された電子工学的性質
を持った高純度シリコン結晶が使用される。これらの結

全体のコストに僅かに寄与するだけである。光電池工学
におけるシリコンの用途として、ハイパワーの濃縮電池
(concentrator cell)の製造にやは
り高純度シリコンが使用される。この場合に、純度は、
金属異物原子、アルカリ土金属元素、ホウ素及びリンに
関係するのみならず、炭素及び酸素にも関係する。

大規模光電池工業技術に対する経済的要求を満足させる
ことを目的とする地上太陽電池用の多結晶シリコンにお
いては、電子工業用の高純度単結晶よりもいくらか高い
酸素及び炭素含有率が許容されなければならない。しか
しながら、経済的に製造することができるこれらの材料
は、比較的効率が低いという欠点を有する。

- 【特許請求の範囲】 1、酸素及び炭素の合計含有率が3−200ppmであ
