Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本出願人の特願昭53−129424号には、導管、例
えば血液バツクと連通する端部間に好ましくは無
菌の接続を形成するためのコネクター部材が示さ
れている。したがつてシールされた無菌接続が保
たれるときは、上記引用出願に記載したように接
続がなされそして放射エネルギーへ照射すること
によりシールされた接続が形成された後、例えば
血液、血液成分または他の医療物質を無菌状態で
一つの容器から取り出し、他の容器へ移すことが
できる。
本発明は使い易さと、製作上および使用上の信
頼性を増すためのコネクター部材の構造の改良に
関する。
本発明によれば、シールされた接続を形成する
コネクター部材は、中空な透明ハウジングを含
む。ハウジングの中空な内部は、該中空ハウジン
グ内部を外部から分離する不透明壁部分よりなる
ハウジングの壁の一部によつて、外部からシール
されている。不透明壁部分は透明ハウジングの残
部へシールされる。
該ハウジングは前記不透明壁部分が互いに対面
接触関係になるように第2のコネクターへ接続
し、ハウジングを放射エネルギーへ照射すると
き、対面接触している不透明壁部がとけてそこに
開口を開くことができる。
第2のコネクターへ接続するための保持手段
は、各ハウジングの第一の端部に隣接して位置す
る軌道を形成する把持アームと、ハウジングの第
二の端部に隣接して位置するフランジとを含む。
各ハウジングのフランジは、他のハウジングの把
持アームに設けられた軌道内にスライドして保持
される関係にはまり込み、シールされた保持関係
に、不透明壁部分が対面する開係にハウジングを
合体して保持する。該ハウジングと該把持アーム
に形成される軌道とは、対面する不透明壁部に対
して平行な平面を占める。
好ましくは、軌道を形成する把持アームは、各
コネクターエレメントの一端に位置する対向する
一対の把持アームよりなる。同様にフランジは、
他方のコネクターエレメントの把持アームに収容
されるように位置しそしてつり合つている対向す
る一対の真直ぐなフランジよりなる。
また本発明のコネクター部材は、ハウジングの
中空内部と連通する導管部材を持つている。導管
部材は、血液バツグ等と連通し得る可撓性チエー
ブの内孔内に、コネクター部材が該可撓性チユー
ブのシールされた端部となるようにシールされた
関係で位置する。
一般に可撓性チユーブの孔内に位置する導管部
材の外端は閉鎖端となり、突出部材が該閉鎖端か
外側へ延びる。したがつて突出部材を手で折るこ
とによつて、導管部材の外端の開口を許容する端
壁の破れを生ぜしめることができる。
図面を参照すると、第1図はシールされたコネ
クター部材に合体される以前の一対のコネクター
エレメントの正面図である。

第1図ないし第7図を参照すると、その構成コ
ネクターエレメント12,14から作られている
コネクター部材10の第一の具体例が示されてい
る。コネクターエレメントの対12,14の各々
は、中空の透明なハウジング16を含み、各ハウ
ジングの中空の内部20は外部からシールし得る
ようになつている。
各ハウジングの壁の一部は、中空なハウジング
内部20を外部から分離する不透明な壁部分22
よりなる。各不透明壁部分は該壁部分22の周囲
に沿つてその透明ハウジングの残余の部分ヘシー
ルされている。
コネクターエレメント12,14の各ハウジン
グ16は、不透明壁部分22が第2図に示すよう
に互いに対面接触して位置するように、対応する
コネクターエレメントのハウジングと合体して位
置し、そしてシールされた保持関係に保持される
のに適合する。したがつて接続されたハウジング
が特願昭53−129424号に記載の方法で放射エネル
ギーへ照射されるとき、対面接触している不透明
壁部分は融合し、該部へ開口を開くことができ
る。
不透明壁部分22は、好ましくは有機熱可塑性
材料で、好ましくは不透明壁部分の外表面に住む
バクテリアが不透明壁部分の融点または軟化点へ
さらされることによつて殺され、同時にとけた物
質中に閉じ込まれるように高い融点または軟化点
を持つもので製作することができる。特に不透明
壁部分22は、ゼネラルエレクトリツク社から販
売されているレキサンのようなポリカーボネート
材料、または各種の他の好ましい高融点熱可塑性
材料から製作することができる。
熱可塑性の不透明壁部分22は、それを不透明
とするため木炭粉、活性炭、またはカーボンブラ
ツクのような充填剤を普通は含有するが、使用す
べき放射エネルギーのタイプの吸収剤である他の
所望の充填剤も炭素の代わりに用いることができ
る。
ハウジング16は、レキサンのような透明な高
融点プラスチツク材料から作られているものとし
て示されている。
放射エネルギーは、所望により可射もしくは白
熱、赤外、紫外、または高周波エネルギーによつ
て該システムに供給することができる。「不透明」
なる用語は、不透明壁部分がそれへ照射される特
定の放射エネルギーの比較的高パーセントを吸収
するのに適していることを意味する。「透明」な
る用語は、当てられた放射エネルギーの低パーセ
ントが吸収されることを意味する。特に、焦点を
定めた赤外放射エネルギーが使用に望ましい。望
むならば、レーザーも放射エネルギーを供給する
ために使用できる。
不透明壁部分22は、該不透明壁部分が融合す
るとき中心開口の形成を容易にするため、一軸も
しくは二軸配向により、または放射状の応力模様
によつてあらかじめ応力を与えておくことができ
る。また、熱軟化照射工程の間に凝集力によつて
中心開口の形成がおこるように、応力を与えてい
ない壁部分も用いることができる。
コネクターエレメント12,14は、他のコネ
クターエレメントへ保持するための手段をそれぞ
れ支承する。該保持手段は、ハウジング16の第
一の端部26に隣接して位置し、そして軌道内に
位置するフランジを保持するための軌道28を形
成する一対の対向する把持アーム24を含む。
一対の対向するフランジ30がハウジング16
の第二の端部32に隣接して対応して位置する。
フランジ30と把持アーム24により形成される
軌道28の各々は、不透明壁部分22へ平行であ
る。軌道28の幅は少なくともフランジ30の幅
と等しくなるようにつり合つており、その結果、
対向するコネクターエレメント12,14のフラ
ンジ30は、把持アーム24の軌道内へはまり込
むことができ、そして各コネクターエレメントの
フランジ30は、反対側のコネクターエレメント
の把持アーム24の軌道内へはまり込むことがで
きる。このようにコネクターエレメントは、第2
図に示すように、不透明壁部分22を対面する密
着関係にしてコネクター部材をシールされる関係
へと合体して保持することができる。
各コネクターエレメントは、不透明壁部分22
の平面に対して平行な相対方向へ同時にスライド
させることによつて合体される。したがつて相対
的運動の唯一の可能性は軌道28とフランジ30
の平面内にあるため、コネクターエレメントを引
き離そうとする偶発的な力は全く分離を引き起こ
さないであろう。
コネクターエレメントが組立てられた後、該コ
ネクターエレメントが別々の部分に分離すること
を防止するため、適当な歯止め手段を設け、コネ
クターエレメント12,14をスナツプ嵌合関係
に合体してシールすることができる。
組立後、コネクターエレメントは所望時間の
間、焦点を定めた赤外線照射等による照射を受け
ることができる。例えば対向する一対の150ワツ
トのだ円反射器タイプのシルバニアランプ(モデ
ルDJL)を使用するときは、一対の不透明壁部分
22に効果的に開口をあけ、同時に該開口の周囲
で不透明壁部分を融合し、コネクターエレメント
12,14の各中空内部間に流路を形成するよう
に、焦点を定めた赤外光を約5分間あてることが
できる。もし希望するならば、照射強度を減らす
ため、低電圧の使用によつてランプを150ワツト
以下で使用することもできる。
各コネクターエレメントはまた、ハウジング1
6と一体に成形することができる導管部材34を
備える。この具体例においては、導管部材34は
取りつけられた不透明壁部分22の平面に対して
縦の関係にある軸を有する。好ましくは、導管部
材34は可撓性チユーブ36の内孔にシールされ
た関係で位置し、可撓性チユーブ36は血液バツ
グ、非経口液容器等のような密封容器38と連通
できる。したがつてコネクターエレメント12,
14が合体されそして照射されるとき、二個の容
器38間の流体の連通のための無菌接続が開設さ
れる。
第8図ないし第13図を参照すると、本発明の
コネクターの他の具体例が開示されている。
第8図ないし第13図は、前と同じように中空
の透明ハウジング64と、そして前の具体例と一
般的に類似の態様で周辺で透明ハウジング64へ
シールされた不透明壁66とを含むコネクターエ
レメントの一対が図示されている。
ハウジング64を一体に保持するため、保持手
段が各コネクターエレメントによつて支承され
る。該保持手段は、接続しようとする相手のコネ
クターエレメントの前の具体例のフランジ30に
対応するフランジ74を収容するため、ハウジン
グの第一の端部70に隣接する軌道72を形成す
る対向する把持アーム68を含む。
この具体例においては、二つのコネクターエレ
メントを不透明壁66が対面する密着関係になる
ように合体して係止するため、対向するフランジ
部材74は各ハウジング64の第二の端部76に
隣接して位置し、該フランジ74は他方のコネク
ターエレメントの把持アームにより形成される軌
道72へスライド保持関係にはまり込むように適
合している。
歯止め手段78,80が設けられているので、
各コネクターエレメント60,62は、接続され
た密着関係にスライドされた後は、無菌性を保つ
ためにコネクターエレメントは接続後使用期間中
永久に合体して保たれることが意図される普通の
使用状態においては、非常な困難さをもつて引き
離されるに過ぎない。
各コネクターエレメント60,62はハウジン
グ64の中空内部と連通する通路を形成する一体
の導管部材84を備え、該導管部材の軸は、この
具体例においてはその組み合わされた不透明壁部
分66の平面に対して鋭角をなす。ここに図示す
るように導管部材84の外端は閉鎖された端壁8
6を備え、該端壁に環状形とし得る肉薄のもろい
区域88を設ける。突出部材90がこの閉鎖端部
から外側へ延び、そのため該突出部材90を手で
折り、導管部材84の外端の開口を許容するよう
に端壁86を破ることができる。
前の具体例と同様に、各導管部材84は、血液
バツグのような密封容器38と連通し得る可撓性
チユーブ36aの内孔へシールされた関係で位置
することができる。したがつて可撓性チユーブ3
6aおよび突出部材90の手動操作は、コネクタ
ーエレメント60,62が第10図に示すように
コネクター部材に合体して接続された後、それら
を開くため、各導管部材84の端壁86の破壊を
許容する。
両方のコネクターエレメントがその導管部材の
破壊できるようにシールされた端壁86を支承し
ているときは、照射工程に先立つてその内の一方
を開口することが望まれる。そのときは、ハウジ
ング64および導管部材84内の残りのシールさ
れた室94内の空気が加熱工程中膨張し、照射工
程の間不透明壁部66の両側に圧力差を形成する
であろう。これは該壁が弱くなり、そしてとける
ときは不透明壁66の破れを助け、二つのコネク
ターエレメント60,62間に好ましい無菌のシ
ールされた接続を形成するであろう。
もしも希望するならば、コネクターエレメント
の一方がシールされた端壁86と突出部材90を
有するだけでよい。例えば空の血液バツグにはシ
ールされた端壁86と突出部材90を使用しない
で、他方、供血者からの血液を収容しようとする
血液バツグは、微量の血液が貯蔵中不透明壁66
へ向かつて上方へ通過するのを防止するようにシ
ールされた端壁を有してもよい。
突出部材90は直径溝92で終わることができ
る。破断した後、細長部材92の溝付き端は、該
部材を破つて開口した端壁86から引き離して保
つためチユーブ36aの細くなつた部分94中へ
圧入することができる。これは流路の閉塞を防止
する。この場合溝92は、部材92がそこへ固定
されているけれども細くなつた部分94を通る流
れを許容する。
端壁86と突出部材90とは、第1〜7図に図
示したコネクター部材にも設けることができ、そ
のようなコネクター部材同志、または一方は端壁
86および突出部材90を有しないコネクター部
材と接続し、不透明壁部を照射して該部分にシー
ルされた無菌接続を形成することができる。

    のための通路を含んでいる透明ハウジングと、 前記中空内部を横断して延び、平常は該中空内
    部を外部との連通からシールしているが放射エネ
    ルギーの照射に応答して溶融して前記中空内部を
    外部と連通させる開口を形成し得る溶融し得る不
    透明壁と、 前記通路内にあつてそれを通る流体の流れを平
    常阻止するための破壊し得る閉鎖端壁と、 前記通路を開くため前記破壊し得る閉鎖端壁を
    人手で破壊するための前記閉鎖端壁へ接続された
    突出部材を備えていることを特徴とする前記医療
    用コネクター部材。 2 第2のコネクター部材とのシールされた接続
    のための保持手段を備え、 該保持手段は前記透明ハウジングの第1の端部
    に隣接して位置する軌道を形成する把持アームと
    そして前記透明ハウジングの第2の端部に隣接し
    て位置するフランジとを備え、前記フランジは前
    記第2のコネクター部材に形成された前記軌道内
    にスライド保持関係に嵌合し、前記不透明壁を対
    面接触させて両方のコネクター部材のハウジング
    をシールされた保持関係に保持するようになつて
    いることを特徴とする第1項記載の医療用コネク
    ター部材。 3 前記不透明壁は、前記通路の軸に対して一般
    に平行である第1項、または第2項記載の医療用
    コネクター部材。 4 前記不透明壁は、前記通路の軸に対して鋭角
    を形成している第1項、または第2項記載の医療
    用コネクター部材。 5 前記鋭角は約45゜である第4項記載の医療用
    コネクター部材。 6 前記軌道を形成する把持アームは軌道を形成
    する把持アームの対向する一対よりなる第2項な
    いし第5項のいずれかに記載の医療用コネクター
    部材。 7 前記フランジは一対の真直ぐなフランジ縁よ
    りなる第2項ないし第6項のいずれかに記載の医
    療用コネクター部材。
