Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure the extent of air cleaner capacity sufficient enough by setting up an air cleaner in either side of both left and right sides of an engine or both, and connecting the air cleaner to a fuel supply system via a connecting duct. CONSTITUTION:Air inhaled in an air cleaner 21 from a fresh-air intake 21c is inhaled in a carburetor (fuel system) by way of a connecting duct 22 and a surge tank 25 after being filtered by an element, hereat it comes to a mixture with gasoline and fed to the inside of a crankcase 11a by suction. A pair of air cleaners 21 are set up in both left and right sides of an engine unit 10, and since the air cleaner 21 is connected to the carburetor 20 by the connecting duct 22 and the surge tank 25, clean air is smoothly fed to the carburetor 20 connected to the engine front side, and the air cleaner 21 is set up in a relatively wide space, say, between an engine side face and a side wall 23b of an under cowling 9b so that there is no problem on interference with other vehicle parts, thus air cleaner capacity is sufficiently secured.

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔産業上の利用分野〕 本発明は、自動二輪車のエンジンにエアクリーナで濾遇
された清浄な空気を供給するための吸気装置に関し、特
にエンジンの前側に気化器あるいは燃料噴射装置等の燃
料供給装置を接続した場合の、エアクリーナの配置構造
の改善に関する.〔従来の技術〕 最近の自動二輪車には、気化器をエンジンの前壁に接続
するとともに排気管をエンジンの後壁に接続した、いわ
ゆる前方吸気.後方排気方式のものがある.この種の自
動二輪車は、所定のコース内を高速走行する競技用とし
て開発されたものであり、この競技用自動二輪車の吸気
装置は、吸気抵抗を極力低減して出力向上を図る観点か
ら、エアクリーナを設けず、気化器に外気を直接吸引さ
せるように構成されている(例えば特願昭62−168
815号参照). 〔発明が解決しようとする問題点〕 ところで、上記前方吸気.後方排気方式を市販の公道走
行用自動二輪車に採用するには、エンジンの耐久性i1
保の観点からエアクリーナで濾過した清浄空気をエンジ
ンに供給する必要がある.この場合、燃料供給装置をエ
ンジン前側に接続するという特殊構造に応じた適切な吸
気装置を開発する必要がある.例えば、エアクリーナの
配置位置の如何によっては、エアクリーナ容量が不十分
となる懸念がある. そこで本発明は、上記状況に鑑み、市販車に前方吸気.
後方排気方式を採用する場合に、エアクリーナ容量を十
分に確保できる自動二輪車の吸気装置を捷供することを
目的としている.〔問題点を解決するための手段〕 本発明は、エンジンの前側に燃料供給装置を、後側に排
気管をそれぞれ接続した自動二輪車において、上記エン
ジンに清浄空気を供給するための吸気装置であって、上
記エアクリーナを、上記エンジンの左,右側方の何れか
一方又は両方に配置し、該エアクリーナを連結ダクトを
介して上記燃料供給装置に接続したことを特徴としてい
る.ここで本発明は、車体の側方をカウリングで覆って
いる場合に特に好適であり、この場合はエアクリーナを
縦長の平板状に形成し、これをカウリングとエンジンと
の間の空間に配置するとともに、連結ダクトをエンジン
の下方に配置する構造を採用できる. また本発明においてエアクリーナを左,右側方の両方に
、又は一方のみに配置するかどうかは、エンジン排気量
等に応じて決まる必要エアクリーナ容量、あるいは外観
上の左5右バランス等によって適宜選択される. また、本発明の燃料供給装置には通常の気化器及びベン
チュリ管に燃料噴射弁及び絞り弁を配設してなる燃料噴
射装置の両方が含まれる.〔作用〕 本発明に係る吸気装置によれば、エンジンの左.右側方
という、従来利用されていないスペースにエアクリーナ
を配置したので、他の車両部品との干渉の問題がなく、
十分なエアクリーナ容量を確保できる. 〔実施例〕 以下、本発明の実施例を図について説明する.第1図及
び第2図は本発明の一実施例による自動二輪車の吸気装
置を説明するための図である.図において、lは本実施
例装置が採用された自動二輪車であり、これの車体フレ
ーム2は、前端のヘッドパイブ2aから車体後方斜め下
方に延びる左,右(以下、前.後.左.右とは全て車両
前方を向いた場合とする)一対のメインフレーム2bの
後端部にリャアームブラケット2Cを一体形成し、該両
ブラケット20同士をクロスパイプで接続した構成とな
っている.上記ヘソドパイプ2aにより、下端で前輸3
を軸支する前フォーク4が左右に操向自在に軸支されて
おり、該前フォーク4の上端には左.右分割型の操向ハ
ンドル4aが固着されている.また上記リャアームブラ
ケフ}2Cにより、後端で後輸5を軸支する後アーム6
が上下に揺動自在に枢支されている.また、上記車体フ
レーム2の上側には前から順に、燃料タンク7.シ一ト
8が配置されている.このシ一ト8の左.右側方及び後
方はサイドカバ−9aで、上記車体フレーム2の左.右
側方及び下方はアンダカウリング9bで、また操向ハン
ドル4aの前方はアソパカウリング9Cで、さらにその
上方はスクリーン9dでそれぞれ囲まれており、これら
のカバー,カウリングはいずれも樹脂成形品である. そして上記アンダカウリング9b内に、エンジンユニッ
ト10が懸架支持されている.このエンジンユニット1
0は水冷式2サイクル並列2気筒型のものであり、変速
機ケースと一体化されたクランクケース11の土壁前部
にシリンダボデイ12.及びシリンダヘッドl3を前傾
状態に搭載し、ヘッドボルトl4で上記クランクケース
11に締結した構成となっている. 上記シリンダボディ12の背面壁には左,右一対の排気
口12a,12aが形成されており、該該左,右の排気
口12a,12aには左,右一対の排気管15.15の
前端が接続されている.該各排気管15は上記左.右の
メインフレーム2bの内側から上記サイド力バー9aの
内側を通って車両後端まで略直線状に斜め上方に延びて
いる.また上記シリンダボディ12の各気筒内に挿入配
置された左.右のピストンl6は、クランクケース1l
内の前部に配設されたクランク軸17の左,右のクラン
クアーム17aに、それぞれコンロ7ドl8を介して接
続されている.そしてこの各クランクアーム17aは、
上記クランクケース11内に一体形成された左,右のク
ランク室lla内に位置している. また、上記左,右のクランク室11aの前壁部には、そ
れぞれ吸気開口1lbが形成されており、咳各吸気開口
1lbには吸気管部11Cが前方に延びるように一体形
成されている.そしてこの各吸気管部11Cには、硬質
ラバー製のキャブジジイン}19を介して気化器20の
下流側開口である吐出口20bが接続されている.該各
気化器20は、そのベンチュリ通路が略水平線をなし、
かつクランク軸7と略同一高さに位置しており、その上
流側開口である吸気口20aが車両前方を向いている. そして、上記エンジンユニソト10の側方を囲む上記ア
ンダカウリング9bは、前壁23a1左.右側壁23b
及び底壁23cからなる断面正面視略U字状のものであ
る.そして上記エンジンユニットlOの左.右側面と、
上記左.右側壁23bとの間に、左,右一対のエアクリ
ーナ2lが配設されている.咳各エアクリーナ2】は、
側面視縦長の長方形状のもので、上.下ケース21a,
2lb間にエレメントを介在させてなる上.下2分割型
のものである.上記上ケース21aの上端はメインフレ
ーム2bの外側に位置し、咳上ケース21aの内面に一
体形成された外気取入口21Cはメインフレーム2bの
下面付近を通って内方に延び、さらに上方に屈曲されて
開口しており、該開口の上方はタンク力バー7で覆われ
ている.また上記下ケース2lbは、クランクケース1
1の下方まで延び、該クランクケースl1の下方に配置
された連結ダクト22に一体的に接続されている.この
連結ダクト22は、クランクケース11の下面に沿って
前後に延びる筒状のもので、該連結ダクト22の前部に
はサージタンク25が上方に膨出形成されている.この
サージタンク25は、後半部25aと、前半部25bと
に2分割され、かつ固定ボル}25cで分解可能に結合
されている.この後半部25aは上記気化器20を収容
でき、かつ上記シリンダボディ12の前壁に沿う形状に
形成されている.そして上記後半部25aの後壁を上記
クランクケース11の接続管部11Cが貫通しており、
両者はシール状態に嵌合固定されている. また、上記気化器20の上方には、ラジエータ24が上
記左,右のメインフレーム2bの下方間を跨ぐように配
置されている.このラジエータ24は、エレメント部2
4aと、これの左.右側部に接続配置されたヘソドタン
ク部24bとからなり、該ヘッドタンク部24bに固着
されたブラケット24Cが支持ブラケソト28を介して
メインフレーム2bの下面に固定支持されている.次に
本実施例の作用効果について説明する.本実施例の吸気
装置では、外気取入口21cからエアクリーナ21内に
吸引された空気は、エレメントで濾過された後、連結ダ
クト22,サージタンク25を経て気化器20に吸引さ
れ、ここでガソリンとの混合気となってクランク室11
a内に吸引供給される. このようにエンジンユニットIOの左.右側方に一対の
エアクリーナ21を配置し、該エアクリ−ナ2lを連結
ダクト22.サージタンク25によって気化器20に接
続したので、エンジン前側に接続された気化器20に清
浄な空気を支障な《供給できる. この場合、エンジン側面とアンダカウリング9bの側壁
23bとの間という、比較的広くて、かつ従来余り利用
されていない空間にエアクリーナ21を配置したので、
他の車両部品との干渉の問題もなく、エアクリーナ容量
を十分に確保できる.また、上記エアクリーナ21を大
容量の連結ダクト22及びサージタンク25を介して気
化器に接続したので、エアクリーナの二次側容量が十分
に確保されており、結果的にエアクリーナと気化器との
距離が等価的に近接していることとなり、エンジンの応
答性を改善できる. なお、上記実施例では、エンジンの左,右側方をカウリ
ングで囲んだ場合を説明したが、本発明ではこのカウリ
ングを備えていない自動二輪車にも勿論適用できる.ま
た、上記実施例ではエンジンの左,右両側方にエアクリ
ーナを配置したが、このエアクリーナは何れか一方に配
置しても勿論良い. 〔発明の効果〕 以上のように本発明に係る自動二輪車の吸気装置によれ
ば、エアクリーナをエンジンの左,右側方の何れか一方
又は両方に配置し、このエアクリーナを連結ダクトで燃
料供給装置に接続したので、従来あまり利用されていな
いエンジン側方の空間を有効利用でき、エアクリーナ容
禎を十分に確保できる効果がある.
