Description
【発明の詳細な説明】
[産業上の利用分野]
本発明は、バーコード等の情報パターンを読み
取るためのパターン読取装置に関するものであ
る。

[従来の技術]
近年、数値情報を表示するバーコードを読み取
るバーコードリーダは、広く普及し盛んに使用さ
れているが、バーコードとリーダとの距離には相
当の制限があり、所定の範囲内にリーダを位置さ
せないとバーコード情報を正確に読み取ることが
できない。実際には光学的にも工夫がなされ、相
当の範囲の距離内で使用できるようにはされてい
るが、その距離範囲はまだ十分とは云えず、使用
者に使用上の制約を与えることになる。

者に使用上の制約を与えることになる。
[発明の目的]
本発明の目的は、上述の欠点を解消し、パター
ンと読取装置の間隙に相当の許容幅を持たせるこ
とにより、極めて使用し易いパターン読取装置を
提供することにある。

[発明の概要]
上述の目的を達成するための本発明の要旨は、
回転多面鏡を用いて読み取るべき情報パターンを
光走査して、その反射光により前記情報パターン
の情報を読み取る装置であつて、前記回転多面鏡
は複数個の平板ミラーを有し、前記平板ミラーは
前記回転多面鏡の回転中心軸に対し傾斜して配置
し、光源からの光ビームを前記平板ミラーにより
反射して前記情報パターンを走査するようにし、
前記回転多面鏡の前記各平板ミラーの近傍に各平
板ミラーごとに屈折力が互いに異なるレンズを設
け、前記各平板ミラーにより反射された走査ビー
ムの結像位置が前記レンズにより互いに異なるよ
うにしたことを特徴とするパターン読取装置であ
る。

ムの結像位置が前記レンズにより互いに異なるよ
うにしたことを特徴とするパターン読取装置であ
る。
[発明の実施例]
本発明を図示の実施例に基づいて詳細に説明す
る。

第1図、第2図は読取装置の断面図である。こ
こで、1は筐体であり、2は情報パターンに向け
る透明保護板、3は電池を収納する把持部であ
る。筐体1のほぼ中央には、モータ4により回転
される回転多面鏡5が配置されている。この回転
多面鏡5は透明合成樹脂等の光学ブロツク6によ
り形成されており、その上面には第3図a,bに
示すように例えば4枚の平板ミラー7a,7b,
7c,7dが回転軸8を中心として対称的に配置
されている。実際には、これらの平板ミラー7
a,7b,7c,7dは光学ブロツク6を回転軸
8に対して45度に傾斜して研削することにより内
面の全反射を利用している。また、各平板ミラー
7a,7b,7c,7dの下方の光学ブロツク6
の底面には、各平板ミラー7a,7b,7c,7
dごとに屈折力の異なる凸レンズ面9a,9b,
9c,9d(9dは図示せず)が形成されており、
平板ミラー7aと凸レンズ9a,7bと9b,7
cと9C,7dと9dとがそれぞれ対になつてい
る。そして、回転多面鏡5の端部の下方にレーザ
ー発光ダイオード10が配置され、コリメータレ
ンズ11を介して光ビームを光学ブロツク6の凸
レンズ面9a,9b,9c,9d及び平板ミラー
7a,7b,7c,7dに入射するようになつて
いる。また、保護板2の内側下方にトーリツクレ
ンズ12が配置され、筐体1内のトーリツクレン
ズ12の略焦点位置には受光素子13が設けられ
ている。

る。そして、回転多面鏡5の端部の下方にレーザ
ー発光ダイオード10が配置され、コリメータレ
ンズ11を介して光ビームを光学ブロツク6の凸
レンズ面9a,9b,9c,9d及び平板ミラー
7a,7b,7c,7dに入射するようになつて
いる。また、保護板2の内側下方にトーリツクレ
ンズ12が配置され、筐体1内のトーリツクレン
ズ12の略焦点位置には受光素子13が設けられ
ている。
従つて、発光ダイオード10から発光された光
ビームは、モータ4により高速で回転している回
転多面鏡5に凸レンズ9a,9b,9c,9dの
何れかを介して入射し、各平板ミラー7a,7
b,7c,7dによつて保護板2の方向に出射さ
れ、各平板ミラー7a,7b,7c,7dごとに
所定の角度だけ走査されることになる。この場合
に、コリメータレンズ11は発光ダイオード10
からの光ビームを平行光として凸レンズ面9に入
射させるものであり、各凸レンズ面9a,9b,
9c,9dの焦点距離によつて走査ビームの結像
位置が決定されることになる。

何れかを介して入射し、各平板ミラー7a,7
b,7c,7dによつて保護板2の方向に出射さ
れ、各平板ミラー7a,7b,7c,7dごとに
所定の角度だけ走査されることになる。この場合
に、コリメータレンズ11は発光ダイオード10
からの光ビームを平行光として凸レンズ面9に入
射させるものであり、各凸レンズ面9a,9b,
9c,9dの焦点距離によつて走査ビームの結像
位置が決定されることになる。
各平板ミラー7a,7b,7c,7dで反射さ
れる光ビームは、それぞれ異なる屈折力を有する
凸レンズ面9a,9b,9c,9dを経て出射さ
れたものであるために、それぞれの平板ミラー7
a,7b,7c,7dにより走査される光ビーム
の結像位置はそれぞれ異なることになる。例え
ば、実際の結像位置から±10mm程度ずれてもエラ
ーを生ずることなく情報パターンを正確に読み取
り得るものとすれば、各結像位置は20mm間隔に配
置することができ、例えば4つの結像位置を設け
ることによつて約80mmの距離範囲をカバーするこ
とが可能となる。

受光素子13においては、トーリツクレンズ1
2を経て入射した反射光の内で最も鮮明な電気信
号が得られる情報を正規な入力とすればよいの
で、結像位置が平板ミラー7a,7b,7c,7
dごとに異なつていても、4つの走査ビームのう
ちの何れか1つの結像位置によつて正確な情報が
得られれば、十分に目的を達成することができ
る。

なお、回転多面鏡5と発光ダイオード10との
位置関係等は、実施例以外に種々考えられるとこ
ろであり、第4図に示すように金属製の皿状部材
17の裏側面を平板ミラー7a,7b,7c,7
d(7dは図示せず)とし、その下方に合成樹脂
により形成した凸レンズ面9a,9b,9c,9
d(9dは図示せず)を一体的に連結してもよい。
更に、第5図に示すように光学ブロツク6におい
て、凸レンズ面9a,9b,9c,9d(9dは
図示せず)は平板ミラー7a,7b,7c,7d
(7dは図示せず)の出射側に形成するようにし
てもよい。
位置関係等は、実施例以外に種々考えられるとこ
ろであり、第4図に示すように金属製の皿状部材
17の裏側面を平板ミラー7a,7b,7c,7
d(7dは図示せず)とし、その下方に合成樹脂
により形成した凸レンズ面9a,9b,9c,9
d(9dは図示せず)を一体的に連結してもよい。
更に、第5図に示すように光学ブロツク6におい
て、凸レンズ面9a,9b,9c,9d(9dは
図示せず)は平板ミラー7a,7b,7c,7d
(7dは図示せず)の出射側に形成するようにし
てもよい。
また、受光素子13の光路は走査光ビームと同
じ光路を使用し、発光ダイオード10と回転多面
鏡5の間にビームスプリツタを配置して、反射光
を受光素子13に導くようにしてもよい。更に
は、レンズへの入射光によつては、凸レンズでは
なく凹レンズを使用することも可能である。

[発明の効果]
以上説明したように本発明に係るパターン読取
装置は、結像位置が異なる複数の光ビームを順次
に出射して走査することにより、情報パターンを
光学的に正確に検出し得る距離を従来装置よりも
大幅に長くすることができるために、極めて使用
し易いという利点がある。

Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1 回転多面鏡を用いて読み取るべき情報パター
ンを光走査して、その反射光により前記情報パタ
ーンの情報を読み取る装置であつて、前記回転多
面鏡は複数個の平板ミラーを有し、前記平板ミラ
ーは前記回転多面鏡の回転中心軸に対し傾斜して
配置し、光源からの光ビームを前記平板ミラーに
より反射して前記情報パターンを走査するように
し、前記回転多面鏡の前記各平板ミラーの近傍に
各平板ミラーごとに屈折力が互いに異なるレンズ
を設け、前記各平板ミラーにより反射された走査
ビームの結像位置が前記レンズにより互いに異な
るようにしたことを特徴とするパターン読取装
置。 2 前記平板ミラーは光学ブロツクで形成し、該
光学ブロツク内で全反射するようにし、前記凸レ
ンズを前記光学ブロツクと一体に形成した特許請
求の範囲第1項に記載のパターン読取装置。
