Abstract

PURPOSE:To recover and hold waste ink stably to a waste ink absorber at all times, and to prevent injection to the outside of an ink recovery vessel by forming the structure in which the waste ink absorber and a vent hole are not brought into contact directly. CONSTITUTION:An ink recovery vessel 7 is shaped by a partition wall 6 inside an ink cartridge. A vent hole 8 is formed to the wall surface of the ink recovery vessel 7, and a protrusion 9 is shaped near the vent hole 8. The protrusion 9 is formed so that the vent hole 8 is not covered directly with a waste ink absorber 4. A space 10 can be shaped between the vent hole 8 and the waste ink absorber 4 because the protrusion 9 is formed, and the vent hole 8 is not covered directly with the waste ink absorber 4. Even when waste ink recovered to the waste ink absorber 4 is increased, injection to the outside through the vent hole 8 of waste ink by maintenance operation can be prevented.

In an inkjet recording device, the liquid ink that is the printing medium is not only consumed for printing characters, graphics, etc., but also for preventing clogging of the nozzle section of the recording head,
It is also used for maintenance operations to improve reliability, such as removing air bubbles in the ink supply channel. As shown in FIG. 3, ink is supplied to the print head 101 from an ink cartridge 102. As shown in FIG. The ink cartridge 102 is provided with an outlet 103, and when the ink supply needle 104 passes through the outlet 103, liquid ink can be drawn out and used. On the other hand, an ink supply tube 105 is connected to the other end of the ink supply needle 104 to supply liquid ink to the print head 101 . During maintenance operations, the nozzle surface of the print head 101 is covered with a cap 106.

The cap 106 is connected to the ink inlet side of a pump 108 via a waste ink tube A107, and the waste ink tube B109 is connected to the outlet side of the pump 108. The other end of the waste ink tube B108 is a waste ink collection needle 1 that guides waste ink into the ink collection container.

At step s, the pump is driven, and the ink in the print head 101 and the ink supply flow path is sucked and disposed of in a pile inside the ink collection container. The ink collection container is formed as a part of a replaceable ink cartridge (hereinafter referred to as an ink cartridge) for ease of handling, and the ink cartridge is also equipped with an ink bag containing liquid ink. ing. The ink is supplied from the print head ink supply needle through the outlet.

The ink collection container according to the prior art is as shown in FIG.
As described above, the waste ink absorbing material 4 was housed, and the wall surface was simply provided with a ventilation hole 8 consisting of a simple through hole. The purpose of the vent hole 8 is to prevent internal pressure from increasing due to waste ink being collected during maintenance operations. The waste liquid port 5 is formed of a rubber-like elastic material so that the collected waste ink does not leak, and maintains close contact with the member forming the outer body of the ink collection container. For this reason, if the vent hole 8 is not provided, the internal pressure inside the ink collection container will increase as waste ink is collected, and collection by the pump will eventually become impossible.

The waste ink absorbing material 4 is generally made of felt material, paper material, porous material, etc., and waste ink is retained by utilizing the voids between the constituent fibers. Therefore, when the liquid ink reaches the part of the waste ink absorbing material 4 that covers the ventilation hole 8, the waste ink is removed from the front i2i! This is the same as covering the l pores 8. In this state of silence, the user performs maintenance operations on the recording device (including self-operation based on a preset program of the recording H1m itself),
When the waste ink is collected into the waste ink absorbing material 4,
When the air inside the waste ink collection container exits to the outside through the vent hole 8, it is discharged together with the liquid ink covering the vent hole 8 (that is, the waste ink is ejected from the vent hole). If the ejected liquid ink reaches an electric circuit or the like mounted on the main body of the recording apparatus, there is a risk of causing a fatal defect such as a malfunction or failure due to a short circuit or the like. There was also the risk of contaminating the user with the ejected liquid ink.
