Abstract

PURPOSE:To incorporate a water soluble cation formed polymer into the title liquid so that the cleaning of a contact lens surface to get rid of the dirt such as sebum and protein secured onto said surface is effected simply by immersing and preserving the contact lens in said liquid and that a preserving effect is obtd. CONSTITUTION:The water soluble cation formed polymer is incorporated into the liquid. The water soluble cation formed polymer may be general water soluble cation formed polymers which include the polymers cationated from polysaccharides such as cation formed cellulose, cation formed starch, cation formed guagam, and cation formed tamarind as well as the derivatives obtd. by adding alkylene oxides such as propylene oxide and butyrene oxide of grindol, etc., thereto before or after cationation. The labor in cleaning and preserving of the contact lens at the time of the use thereof is thereby facilitated and the performance of the cleaning and preserving liquid is enhanced.

(Conventional technology and problems) Various contact lenses have been used in the past, but
Contact lenses can be roughly divided into two types: non-hydrophobic contact lenses and hydrous contact lenses. The cleaning and storage methods for these contact lenses are somewhat different, but when non-hydrocontaining contact lenses are worn in the eyes, their surfaces are contaminated mainly by ocular sebum, which is secretion in the eyes. Therefore, after removing the contact lens from the eye, it is necessary to promptly wash the contact lens to remove contaminants such as eye oil that have adhered to the surface.

Storing contact lenses in a storage solution is important in the case of hydrophilic contact lenses to maintain their hydrated state, but even in the case of non-hydrous contact lenses, it is important to preserve the hydrophilic surface of the lens. In addition to retaining contact lenses and reducing the discomfort felt by the cornea when worn on the eye, it is also possible to store contact lenses in a hygienic manner and prepare them for the next wearing in a clean state. It is preferable to preserve it by immersion.

As described above, when handling contact lenses, cleaning and storage must be performed separately using predetermined cleaning solutions and preservation solutions, respectively, which is very time-consuming. Furthermore, in cleaning, contact lenses are scrubbed with hands and fingers, which has the disadvantage of damaging the lens surface. Furthermore, contact lenses made of water-repellent or hydrophobic materials, such as silicone rubber, may be treated to make them hydrophilic, and when you scrub them with your fingers, these hydrophilic treatments are damaged. There were drawbacks that shortened the lifespan of the product.

The washing preservation solution of the present invention can be prepared by adding and dissolving a water-soluble cationized polymer in physiological saline or pure water. The amount added varies depending on the type of cationized polymer, degree of polymerization, degree of substitution, etc., but is usually in the range of 0.01 to 5% (wt%), preferably 0.01 to 2%. Addition m is 0.
If it is less than 0.001%, the effect of the present invention cannot be obtained, and if it is more than 5%, the viscosity of the cleaning preservation solution becomes too high, making it inconvenient to handle.

(Effects of the Invention) The cleaning and preservation solution for contact lenses of the present invention has both the functions of cleaning and preserving contact lenses, and by simply immersing and preserving the contact lenses in the solution, the eye fluid that adheres to the surface of the contact lenses can be removed. It cleans away impurities such as proteins and has excellent preservation effects.

Examples 1 to 6, Comparative Example Non-hydrous contact lenses were given to subjects for 1 day (12 hours)
The contact lenses, which were worn by the participants and contaminated with eye secretions, proteins, etc., were immersed for 8 hours in a cleaning and preservation solution prepared by dissolving various cationized polymers in the amounts shown in Table 1 in pure water. For comparison, a similar immersion test was conducted using a commercially available cleaning solution.
