PURPOSE:To enable floating material not discharged by a conveyer to be discharged out of a device by a method wherein a solid-liquid separation device for use in separating floating substances from water within a bottom sealed tank is arranged. CONSTITUTION:A bottom water sealed tank 15 is provided with a pump 19 connected with a liquid cyclone 18 which may act as a solid-liquid separation device. A solid part discharging portion 20 placed at a bottom part of a liquid cyclone 18 is located at an upper part of an inclination part 17 and then solid substances to be discharged are discharged out of a tank with a chain conveyer 16. Water mixed with floating substances is sucked up by a pump 19 and supplied to the liquid cyclone 18. Solid substances such as floating substances which are separated by a specific weight within the liquid cyclone 18 are discharged out from a lower part, dropped onto the inclination part 17 and then discharged out of the device by the chain conveyer 16. In turn, separated water is fed into a bottom water sealed tank 15 and then water containing floating substances therein is diluted.
