Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title facing parts for an antique toned timepiece having excellent adhesion and corrosion resistance and having a high decorative value by coating a metallic substrate successively with a substrate layer such as a copper plating, an intermediate layer such as a Pd plating, and a finish layer such as a black Ru plating, and then partially removing the black coating by machining. CONSTITUTION:A copper plating and single or several Ni (alloy) plating layers as the substrate layer and single or several plating layers of Pd (alloy) as the intermediate layer are successively laminated on the metallic substrate of a copper alloy, etc. The intermediate layer is then coated with a black Ru plating or a black Rh plating as the finish layer. The material is then finished by a barrel finishing machine with the use of corn media to remove the black coating film of the finish layer. By this method, facing parts for an antique toned timepiece having a black - white gradation on the surface with white as the base color, having the above-mentioned characteristics, and having a high decorative value is obtained.

The present invention is based on a watch exterior component base material made of copper alloy, zinc, zinc alloy, etc., which is coated with a single layer or several layers of copper plating, nickel alloy plating, or nickel alloy plating as a base layer, and then palladium plating or palladium plating as an intermediate layer. By laminating a single layer or several types of alloy plating or rhodium plating, coating with black ruthenium plating or black rhodium plating as a finishing layer, and then partially removing the black coating of the finishing layer by barrel-type machining, It is possible to provide an antique-looking exterior part for a watch that has a black to white gradation pattern and has a white base color with high decorative value.

The conventional manufacturing method for white-based antique ornaments such as wristwatches, lighters, and glasses is to layer a black chrome plating layer on a layer of precious metal plating such as silver or palladium, which is coated on top of one layer, and then perform puff polishing. By doing so, the base color is silver,
Another method was to add a black tinge to palladium white to give it an antique look.

Another method is to form a noble metal plating layer on two materials in the same manner as described above, as described in JP-A No. 60-251297, then apply a black chrome plating layer on the noble metal plating layer, and then blacken the layer by honing. There was a way to remove the chrome plating layer to give it an antique look.

However, the biggest drawback of the above-mentioned prior art is that the finishing layer is coated with a black chrome plating layer in the plating structure. During the abrasion process, the black chrome plating layer rapidly wears away from black and changes to black-gray, gray, and white, and when it becomes white, it becomes difficult to wear, making it more difficult to achieve an antique finish. . Therefore, in the above-mentioned method 1, the black chrome plating layer of the finishing layer is removed by puff polishing, so when the part has a complex shape such as an exterior part for a watch, the puff does not evenly hit the surface of the part, and as a result, the color of the intermediate precious metal plating layer is removed. There is a mixture of strong parts and strong black parts, as well as the color of the wear process of the black chrome plating layer mentioned above, and the fact that it is processed as a single item results in large variations in appearance, making it difficult to obtain a uniform and good old-fashioned appearance. Zuta. In addition, there is a drawback that the noble metal plating layer of the intermediate layer is significantly worn down at the edges and other places that are easily hit by the puff, and the quality of corrosion resistance is deteriorated. In addition, in the above-mentioned method 2, the black chrome plating layer of the finishing layer is honed and the glass beads are sprayed onto the parts at a constant pressure, so the precious metal plating layer in the middle layer such as the edge part is significantly worn out, and the corrosion resistance is deteriorated due to foreign matter being driven into the glass beads. There was a drawback that the quality deteriorated. In addition, although the finished appearance is uniform throughout, it is difficult to show contrast and has a lack of luster, making it difficult to obtain a good old-fashioned appearance.

The present invention is intended to solve these problems, and its purpose is to minimize the abrasion loss of the intermediate layer during finishing to ensure corrosion resistance, and to create a material with a black to white gradation that has high decorative value. The purpose of this project is to establish a method for producing exterior parts for antique-style watches with a white tone.

It is characterized by In other words, in the plating structure on the board, white precious metal plating with excellent corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance is used for the intermediate layer, black precious metal plating that always shows the same color during the wear process is used for the finishing layer, and a barrel-type machine is used for finishing. It is characterized by the use of processing.

According to the above manufacturing method of the present invention, black ruthenium plating or black rhodium plating is used as the finishing layer in the plating structure on the substrate, so that the same color is always exhibited during the wear process of finishing, so black to white gradient silane can be used freely. It is possible to perform barrel-type machining during finishing, and it is possible to process a large amount at once.

Furthermore, variations in appearance can be reduced and mass productivity is excellent. In addition, by using palladium plating, palladium alloy plating, or rhodium plating with excellent wear resistance for the intermediate layer, and by using cone as the barrel processing media, the amount of wear loss of the intermediate layer during finishing can be minimized. It is possible to ensure corrosion resistance.

Finishing was performed at an internal temperature of 40°C and an operating time of 1 minute, and the black rhodium plating was partially removed to produce an antique-looking watch case with a white base. FIG. 1 shows the coating structure of a watch case formed by the above method. The watch case manufactured using this method has excellent appearance (white base color with black to white gradation), bending test (90° bending), thermal shock (water cooling at 200°CX10 minutes),
As a result of a quality test for corrosion resistance (immersion in artificial sweat at 40° C. x 24”), it was found that the appearance, adhesion, and corrosion resistance as a watch case were sufficiently satisfied.

[Example 2] A watch case made of zinc material was coated with 8 μm of copper plating as a base layer, 8 μm of nickel plating, 6 μm of palladium-nickel alloy plating as an intermediate layer, and 0.5 μm of black ruthenium plating as a finishing layer. The same finishing process as in Example 1 was carried out, and the black ruthenium plating film was partially removed to produce an old-fashioned watch case with a white base tone. FIG. 2 shows the coating structure of a watch case formed by the above method. The watch case manufactured by this method was subjected to the same quality test as in Example 1, and as a result, the watch case sufficiently satisfied the appearance, adhesion, and corrosion resistance as a watch case.
