Description

The present invention particularly relates to a specimen collection device.

At present, there are many epidemic infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, influenza, and pulmonary tuberculosis, all of which are transmitted by droplets. In order to prevent the rapid spread of infectious diseases, many rapid screening stations have been built in various places, and rapid screening reagents for home use have been provided for self-screening or screening with the assistance of others. Generally, rapid disease screening involves collecting oral or nasal samples, which may pose a high risk of infection to the examiner.

Taiwan Patent No. M615921 describes a mobile foldable collection station, which separates the collector and the subject on opposite sides of the partition with a partition plate, reducing direct contact between the collector and the subject and lowering the risk of infection. However, the mobile foldable collection station is large in volume, has low portability, and is expensive, so it is only applicable to the mass screening demand of medical institutions or companies. It is not suitable for general home and portable use.

Therefore, in order to solve the above problems, it is necessary to provide a new and innovative sample collection device.

The main objective of the present invention is to provide a sample collection device that uses a protective member to block droplets when collecting a sample and is easy to carry.

The following examples are provided to illustrate possible embodiments of the present invention, but are not intended to limit the scope of the invention.

Referring to Figures 1 to 5, they show a first preferred embodiment of the present invention, in which the specimen collection device of the present invention includes a main body 1 and a protective member 2.

The main body 1 is provided with an adsorption member 11, which is made of a material having an absorption capacity (e.g., to absorb liquids), such as, but not limited to, cotton, sponge, rayon, polyester fiber, etc., and the adsorption member 11 can be used to collect a sample from the subject 5 (e.g., a saliva, airway sample, or other sample). The protective member 2 is umbrella-shaped, provided on the main body 1, and located on one side of the adsorption member 11, and includes a framework 21, a shielding unit 22, and a sealing part 23, the shielding unit 22 being, for example, a waterproof cloth, the framework 21 provided on the shielding unit 22, selectively deployed relative to the main body 1 to support the shielding unit 22 in an deployed state, or retracted relative to the main body 1 to support the shielding unit 22 in a retracted state, a through hole 221 is provided in the shielding unit 22, the sealing part 23 is provided in an annular shape between the edge of the through hole 221 and the main body 1, and the sealing part 23 is in close annular contact with the outer periphery of the main body 1 to block fluid. Thus, when the collector 6 collects a specimen from the subject 5, the protective member 2 can block splashes and prevent the splashes from passing between the protective member 2 and the main body 1, providing a high protection effect. Furthermore, the protective member 2 can be stored to reduce its volume, making it easy to carry and space-saving, and can be deployed when in use.

The shielding unit 22 is made of a deformable, light-transmitting material, which allows the collector 6 to directly observe the subject 5 through the shielding unit 22, making it easy to perform the collection operation.

The sealing part 23 is made of silica gel or rubber material, and has a high degree of sealing and provides anti-slip force to achieve a positioning effect.

The skeleton 21 includes a fixing member 24, a support frame 25 and a connection frame 26, the sealing part 23 is a sealing ring, the support frame 25 is connected between the shielding unit 22 and the sealing part 23, in this embodiment, one end of the support frame 25 can be pivoted to the sealing part 23, the fixing member 24 is provided on the main body 1 and is located between the suction member 11 and the sealing part 23, the connection frame 26 is movably connected between the fixing member 24 and the support frame 25, and the sealing part 23 can move between a first position and a second position relative to the main body 1 to drive the shielding unit 22 and the support frame 25. Here, when the sealing part 23 is located at the first position, the connection frame 26 and the support frame 25 are respectively deployed relative to the main body 1 to expand the shielding unit 22 and exhibit the deployed state. When the sealing part 23 is located at the second position, the connecting frame 26 and the supporting frame 25 are respectively stored relative to the main body 1 to put the shielding unit 22 in the stored state. Preferably, the main body 1 includes an assembly part 12 and a gripping part 13, the suction member 11 is provided on the assembly part 12, the supporting frame 25 is connected to the sealing part 23 and extends in a direction from the sealing part 23 to the suction member 11, the protection member 2 is provided between the assembly part 12 and the gripping part 13, and the second position is closer to the gripping part 13 than the first position. Preferably, the specimen collection device further includes a tension member 3, which may be a ring or belt, and is provided on the protective member 2 and at least partially exposed on one side facing the gripping portion 13 of the shielding unit 22, and the tension member 3 can be driven so that the sealing portion 23 moves relative to the main body 1, and the collector 6 can pull the tension member 3 to deploy or retract the protective member 2, thus reducing the risk of infection when retracting or deploying the protective member 2. To explain by way of example, when the protective member 2 is retracted or deployed, the protective member 2 is operated facing away from the subject 5, making it less likely to be infected.

It should be noted that when the shielding unit 22 is in the deployed state, the shielding surface 222 of the shielding unit 22 faces the adsorption member 11. When the shielding unit 22 is in the stored state, the shielding surface 222 of the shielding unit 22 is stored facing the main body 1. The shielding surface 222 is concave, and defines a groove 223 that is recessed away from the adsorption member 11, and the groove 223 has an opening 224 that opens toward the adsorption member 11, so that droplets from the subject 5 are blocked by the shielding surface 222 and are less likely to concentrate and drip on the groove 223, thereby reducing the risk of infection. Furthermore, during the process of storing the shielding unit 22, it is possible to avoid hands coming into contact with the shielding surface 222, and when the shielding unit 22 is in the stored state, the shielding surface 222 is stored directly inside the shielding unit 22 and is covered on the inside together with any droplets adhering to it, making it difficult to come into contact with the shielding surface 222 and reducing the risk of infection.

The main body 1 is further provided with a stop edge 14 extending radially outward, the stop edge 14 being provided in the groove 223 and positioned between the through hole 221 and the adsorption member 11, the outer diameter of the stop edge 14 being larger than the diameter of the through hole 221 and the outer diameter of the adsorption member 11, blocking the through hole 221 and making it difficult for droplets to be sprayed into the through hole 221.

The main body 1 further includes a connection part 15, which is connected between the assembly part 12 and the stop edge 14, so that the suction member 11 can be kept at an appropriate distance from the stop edge 14 and the protective member 2, preventing the protective member 2 from interfering with the subject 5 during sampling, and allowing the suction member 11 to be inserted deep into the mouth, nose, or other sampling site of the subject 5.

The specimen collection device further includes a cylinder 7, the cylinder 7 including a storage groove 71, one of the outer periphery of the main body 1 and the inner wall 74 surrounding the storage groove 71 of the cylinder 7 includes at least one spiral guide groove 16, and the other includes at least one locking protrusion structure 72, the at least one locking protrusion structure 72 is locked into the at least one spiral guide groove 16, the adsorption member 11 can be inserted into the storage groove 71, when the shielding unit 22 is in the deployed state, the outer diameter dimension of the shielding unit 22 is larger than the notch 73 of the storage groove 71, and when the rotation axis of the adsorption member 11 moves to press the inner wall 74 of the storage groove 71 in the axial direction, the shielding unit 22 can block the sprayed specimen.

Referring to Figures 5 and 6, they show a second preferred embodiment of the present invention, in which the skeleton 21' is made of a deformable material, such as rubber or silica gel material, and the skeleton 21' can elastically expand the shielding unit 22 in a normal state to put the shielding unit 22 in the deployed state, and the skeleton 21' can deform under pressure and abut against the body 1 to put the shielding unit 22 in the stored state. In this embodiment, the skeleton 21' is integrally connected to the sealing part 23, which facilitates processing and manufacturing and has high bonding strength.
