Description
本発明の文脈において、用語「リグノセルロース材料」はリグニン、ヘミセルロース及びセルロースを含む材料に関し、セルロースはフィブリルを構成し、フィブリルは主に平行に配向される。リグノセルロース材料の典型例には、木質化植物から得られる材料、特には落葉樹又は針葉樹の木材が含まれる。落葉樹又は針葉樹は非組み換え又は遺伝子組み換えのものになり得る。
(a)リグノセルロース材料を用意するステップと、
(b)リグノセルロース材料を脱リグニン化して脱リグニン化材料を得て、この脱リグニン化を、リグノセルロース材料中のリグニンがほぼ完全に除去され、またリグノセルロース材料の構造的完全性が脱リグニン化材料において維持されるような形で行うステップと、
(c)脱リグニン化材料を緻密化して緻密化材料を得るステップ
とを含む。

木材サンプルの脱リグニン化は、特には過酸化水素及び酢酸を使用し、サンプルが白色になるまで酸性又はアルカリ性の処理と酸化処理とを組み合わせることで達成できる。
脱リグニン化材料のブロックを、横方向の膨張を制限する装置において緻密化する。緻密化は、サンプルへの上からの負荷及び横方向のせん断運動(装置の概略図である図1を参照のこと)により達成される。
材料
寸法100x10x20mm3(長手方向x半径方向x接線方向)を有するトウヒの木材ブロック
過酸化水素(H2O2、30%分析グレード、メルク社)及び酢酸(99.8%、シグマアルドリッチ社)を、脱リグニン化に先立って体積比1:1で直接混合した。木材の棒をビーカーに立てて入れ、3日間にわたって酸性溶液中に定温放置し、続いて80℃まで加熱した。脱リグニン化浴をその温度で12時間にわたって150rpmで撹拌しながら維持してから、木材を取り出し、脱イオン化水でしっかりと洗浄した。続く緻密化処理に先立って、洗浄手順を5日間にわたって継続し、1日2回水を交換した。
湿潤した脱リグニン化材料のブロックを、横方向の膨張を制限する装置において緻密化した。緻密化は、サンプルへの上からの負荷及び横方向のせん断運動(装置の概略図である図1を参照のこと)により達成される。
サンプル1:弾性係数47.0GPa及び引張強さ250N/mm2
サンプル2:弾性係数30.1GPa及び引張強さ175N/mm2
サンプル3:弾性係数31.6GPa及び引張強さ111N/mm2
木材サンプル
寸法100x10x20mm3(長手方向x半径方向x接線方向)を有するドイツトウヒ(Picea abies)の木片を使用した。処理前、木片は20℃、相対湿度65%で保管した。
過酸化水素(H2O2、30%分析グレード、メルク社)及び酢酸(99.8%、シグマアルドリッチ社)を、脱リグニン化に先立って体積比1:1で直接混合した。木材の棒をビーカーに立てて入れ、3日間にわたって酸性溶液中に定温放置し、続いて80℃まで加熱した。木片を一晩、室温で150rpmで撹拌しながら浸透に供した。次に、溶液を80℃まで加熱し、木片を6時間にわたって脱リグニン化した。浸透(一晩)及び脱リグニン化(6時間)ステップを、過酸化水素/HAc溶液を新鮮なものに交換してもう1度繰り返した。脱リグニン化後、サンプルを水で24時間にわたって洗浄した。洗浄溶液を5回交換した。洗浄後、一定質量が得られるまでサンプルを気候キャビネットで保管した。3つの異なる湿度条件を緻密化に用いた:20℃/65%、20℃/95%及び湿潤サンプル。
緻密化のために、Zwick Roell 100kNマシンを圧縮モードで使用した。脱リグニン化した木片を金型(100x20mm2)において半径方向で緻密化した。ポンチを金型内に段階的に押し込み、位置を制御した(1mm圧縮、15秒の待ち時間)。脱リグニン化した木片を最初の厚さ10mmから3mmまで圧縮した。
脱リグニン化及び緻密化した木片の引張特性をZwick Roell 10kNマシンで試験した。試験した長さは25mmであった。ひずみは、ビデオ伸び計で測定した。
Claims (9)
- (a)木材のリグノセルロース材料を用意するステップと、
(b)前記リグノセルロース材料を脱リグニン化して脱リグニン化材料を得て、前記脱リグニン化を、前記リグノセルロース材料中のリグニンが除去され、また前記リグノセルロース材料の繊維配向の維持が前記脱リグニン化材料において維持されるような形で行うステップと、
(c)前記脱リグニン化材料を緻密化して緻密化材料を得るステップとを含み、
前記緻密化材料の密度が750-1150kg/m3であり、
前記緻密化は、1-1000Hzの周波数を特徴とする横振動でもって行われる
ことを特徴とする緻密化材料を得るための方法。 - 前記脱リグニン化ステップは、前記リグノセルロース材料を、
・少なくとも1種の酸、又は、
・アルカリ性若しくは酸性条件、又は、
・少なくとも1種の塩基、で処理することを含む
請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記脱リグニン化ステップは、溶液が浸透したリグノセルロース材料を20-90℃で定温放置することを含む

セルロース繊維がリグノセルロース材料の繊維配向において維持され、前記リグノセルロース材料のリグニンが除去され、緻密化材料の密度が前記脱リグニン化材料より上がり、前記緻密化材料の密度が750-1150kg/m3であり、
弾性係数は20-60GPaであり、
引張強さは100-300N/mm 2 である
ことを特徴とする緻密化材料。
