上記のように、本開示のポリマー組成物は、広MWDのエチレン系ポリマーを含む。本明細書に記載の「エチレン系ポリマー」は、(重合性モノマーの総量に基づいて)50重量パーセント超の重合エチレンモノマーを含有するポリマーを示し、任意選択で、少なくとも1つのコモノマーを含有し得る。エチレン系ポリマーには、エチレンホモポリマー、およびエチレンコポリマー(エチレンおよび1つ以上のコモノマーに由来する単位を意味する)が含まれる。「エチレン系ポリマー」および「ポリエチレン」という用語は、互換的に使用され得る。エチレン系ポリマー(ポリエチレン)の非限定的な例としては、低密度ポリエチレン(「LDPE」)、線状低密度ポリエチレン(「LLDPE」)、超低密度ポリエチレン(「ULDPE」)、超低密度ポリエチレン(「VLDPE」)、多成分エチレン系コポリマー(「EPE」)、エチレン/α-オレフィンマルチブロックコポリマー(オレフィンブロックコポリマー(「OBC」)としても知られる)、シングルサイト触媒線状低密度ポリエチレン(「m-LLDPE」)、実質的に線状または線状のプラストマー/エラストマー、中密度ポリエチレン(「MDPE」)、および高密度ポリエチレン(「HDPE」)が挙げられる。概して、ポリエチレンは、チーグラーナッタ触媒などの不均一触媒システム、4族遷移金属およびメタロセン、非メタロセン金属中心、ヘテロアリール、ヘテロ原子アリールオキシエーテル、ホスフィンイミンなどの配位子構造を含む均一触媒システムを用いて、気相流動床反応器、液相スラリープロセス反応器、または液相溶液プロセス反応器で製造することができる。不均一系触媒および/または均一系触媒の組み合わせもまた、単一反応器または二重反応器の構成のいずれかに使用することができる。
上記のように、本開示のポリマー組成物は、狭MWDのエチレン系ポリマーを含む。「狭MWD」という用語は、本明細書では、50以下のI21/I2メルトインデックス比を有するポリマーを示すために使用される。様々な実施形態において、狭MWDのエチレン系ポリマーは、45以下、40以下、または20から50、25から45、30から40、または35から40の範囲のI21/I2メルトインデックス比を有することができる。

密度密度は、立方センチメートル当たりのグラム数で報告された値とASTM D792に準拠して測定される(g/ccまたはg/cm3)。
周期的な温度収縮が、40℃から100℃までの0.5℃/分の温度傾斜の速度でオーブン内で調整され、100℃で60分間保持され、その後、温度を0.5℃/分の速度で40℃に戻し、40℃で20分間保持したワイヤー試験片(伝導体を取り外した状態)に対して実施される。定規(1/16インチ(0.0625インチまたは1.59 mm)の精度)を使用して行われる収縮測定の前に、温度サイクルを5サイクル繰り返す。試験方法は、IEC 60811-503(シースの収縮試験)に準拠している。

(a) 広い分子量分布(「広MWD」)の高密度エチレン系ポリマーと、
(b) 狭い分子量分布(「狭MWD」)の線状低密度エチレン系ポリマーと、を含み、
前記広MWD高密度エチレン系ポリマーは、前記ポリマー組成物の総重量に基づいて50~70重量パーセントの量で前記ポリマー組成物中に存在し、
前記狭MWD線状低密度エチレン系ポリマーは、前記ポリマー組成物の総重量に基づいて20~45重量パーセントの量で前記ポリマー組成物中に存在し、
前記ポリマー組成物は、0.95~0.965g/cm3の密度を有し、さらに
前記広MWDの高密度エチレン系ポリマーは、0.955から0.970g/cm 3 の範囲の密度および60から80のメルトインデックス比(I 21 /I 2 )を有する高密度ポリエチレン(「HDPE」)であり、前記狭MWDの線状低密度エチレン系ポリマーは、0.910から0.925g/cm 3 の範囲の密度および35から50のメルトインデックス比(I 21 /I 2 )を有する線状低密度ポリエチレン(「LLDPE」)である、被覆伝導体。 - 前記LLDPEは、チーグラーナッタ触媒で調製されたエチレンおよび1-ヘキセンのコポリマーである、請求項1に記載の被覆伝導体。
- 前記HDPEは、前記ポリマー組成物の総重量に基づいて50から70重量パーセントの範囲の量で前記ポリマー組成物中に存在し、前記LLDPEは、前記ポリマー組成物の総重量に基づいて25から45重量パーセントの範囲の量で前記ポリマー組成物中に存在する、請求項1に記載の被覆伝導体。
- 前記ポリマー組成物は、ASTM D1693に準拠して、50℃および1.905mm(75ミル)で10%イゲパル溶液中で少なくとも500時間のF20環境応力亀裂耐性(「ESCR」)を示す、請求項1に記載の被覆伝導体。
- 前記ポリマー組成物は、0.951g/cm3から0.965g/cm3の範囲の密度を有する、請求項1に記載の被覆伝導体。
- 伝導体外被を製造するためのプロセスであって、
広い分子量分布(「広MWD」)の高密度エチレン系ポリマーと狭い分子量分布(「狭MWD」)の線状低密度エチレン系ポリマーをブレンドして、ポリマー組成物を形成することと、
前記ポリマー組成物の少なくとも一部を毎秒1.02メートルを超える速度で伝導体上に押し出し、それにより前記伝導体外被を形成することと、を含み、
前記広MWD高密度エチレン系ポリマーは、前記ポリマー組成物の総重量に基づいて50~70重量パーセントの量で前記ポリマー組成物中に存在し、

- 前記HDPEは、前記ポリマー組成物の総重量に基づいて50から70重量パーセントの範囲の量で前記ポリマー組成物中に存在し、前記LLDPEは、前記ポリマー組成物の総重量に基づいて25から45重量パーセントの範囲の量で前記ポリマー組成物中に存在する、請求項7に記載のプロセス。
- 前記ポリマー組成物は、ASTM D1693に準拠して、50℃および1.905mm(75ミル)で10%イゲパル溶液中で少なくとも500時間のF20環境応力亀裂耐性(「ESCR」)を示し、前記ポリマー組成物は、10μインチから80μインチの範囲の表面平滑性を示す、請求項6に記載のプロセス。
