本明細書に記載される場合の摩擦紙は、上に記載されたとおりの原紙、及び樹脂コーティングを含む複合物である。
摩擦紙の樹脂構成成分は、フェノール樹脂、変性フェノール樹脂、シリコーン、ポリイミド、又はそれらの組合せであってもよい。
本発明は、クラッチプレート、トランスミッションバンド、ブレーキシュー、シンクロナイザリング、摩擦ディスク又はシステムプレートとともに使用するための高エネルギー摩擦材料として有用である。
原紙及び摩擦紙の平均厚さは、紙試料の5点でThwing-Albert ProGage機器を使用してASTM D645M-97(2007)に従って測定した。
p-アラミドパルプを撹拌しながら水に添加して、p-アラミドパルプの2%スラリーを得た。スラリーをフィルターバッグに通して濾過し、湿ったフィルターケーキを100psiの圧力でフラットプレス中周囲温度で1分間押して、脱水を完了した。その紙は、乾燥させなかった。
これは、p-アラミドパルプを添加してスラリーを作製した後に、添加されたPVPの重量が、添加p-アラミドパルプの重量の5%であるような量で、PVPの量をやはり、撹拌しながら、添加したことを除いて、比較例Aと同様に調製した。圧力、時間及び温度は、比較例Aに対するものと同じであった。
これは、p-アラミドパルプを添加してスラリーを作製した後に、p-アラミドフロックの量を、添加されたp-アラミドフロックの重量が、添加p-アラミドパルプの重量の20%であるような量で、撹拌しながら添加し、及びPVPの量をやはり、添加されたPVPの重量が、添加p-アラミドパルプの重量の5%であるような量で、撹拌しながら添加したことを除いて、比較例Aと同様に調製した。圧力、時間及び温度は、比較例Aに対するものと同じであった。
摩擦材料としての原紙の効力を試験するために、原紙をフェノール樹脂に浸漬させた。樹脂は、Sumitomo Bakelite,NA(Novi,MI,USA)からのメタノール溶媒(30%溶液)中のタイプPR54562であった。浸漬後、紙を取り出し、過剰の樹脂を流出させた。紙を30分間空気乾燥させ、次いでオーブン中100℃で15分間乾燥させた。紙の樹脂含量は、質量のパーセント濃度で測定した。次いで、紙をガラスプレート間に置き、樹脂を165℃で10分間硬化させ、続いて、オーブン中165℃で5時間硬化させた。コーティングされた紙中の樹脂含量は、樹脂コーティングの前後の紙の相対重量を比較することによって決定した。

80~95重量パーセントのアラミド繊維パルプ及び5~20重量パーセントのポリビニルピロリドンを含む、付記1に記載の紙。
(付記4)
80~90重量パーセントのアラミド繊維パルプ及び10~20重量パーセントのポリビニルピロリドンを含む、付記1に記載の紙。
(付記5)
平均ガーレー空気透過率300cc値に対する引張り強度の比の少なくとも4.0MPa/秒を有する、付記1に記載の紙。
(付記6)
60~99重量パーセントのアラミド繊維パルプ及び1~40重量パーセントのポリビニルピロリドンからなる、又はそれらから本質的になる、付記1に記載の紙。
(付記7)
アラミドフロックをさらに含み、前記フロックは、繊維を含み、そのフロックは、前記紙の全重量に基づいて1~30重量パーセントの量で存在し、ここで、前記ポリビニルピロリドンは、前記アラミド繊維パルプ繊維及び前記アラミドフロック繊維の表面にコーティングとして存在し、且つ前記アラミド繊維パルプは、前記紙の全重量に基づいて98重量パーセント以下である、付記1に記載の紙。

アラミドフロックとアラミドフィブリドとの組合せをさらに含み、前記アラミドフロック及びアラミドフィブリドは、繊維を含み、そのアラミドフロックとアラミドフィブリドとの組合せは、前記紙の全重量に基づいて1~30重量パーセントの量で存在し、ここで、前記ポリビニルピロリドンは、前記アラミド繊維パルプ繊維並びに前記アラミドフロック繊維及び前記アラミドフィブリドの表面にコーティングとして存在し、且つ前記アラミド繊維パルプは、前記紙の全重量に基づいて98重量パーセント以下である、付記1に記載の紙。

フィラー又は摩擦改質粒子をさらに含む、付記1又は7に記載の紙。
(付記10)
前記フィラー又は摩擦改質粒子が、シリカ、珪藻土、黒鉛、アルミナ、金属酸化物、金属窒化物、又は金属炭化物の1種以上である、付記9に記載の紙。
(付記11)
前記紙の全重量に基づいて60~98重量パーセントのアラミド繊維パルプ、前記紙の全重量に基づいて1~30重量パーセントのアラミドフロック、及び前記紙の全重量に基づいて1~20重量パーセントのポリビニルピロリドンからなる、又はそれらから本質的になる、付記7に記載の紙。

40~95重量パーセントの付記1に記載の紙及び5~60重量パーセントの樹脂を含み、ここで、前記樹脂は、フェノール樹脂、シリコーン、ポリイミド、又はそれらの組合せである、複合物。
(付記13)
60~90重量パーセントの付記1に記載の紙及び10~40重量パーセントの樹脂を含む、付記12に記載の複合物。
(付記14)
40~95重量パーセントの付記7に記載の紙及び5~60重量パーセントの樹脂を含み、ここで、前記樹脂は、フェノール樹脂、シリコーン、ポリイミド、又はそれらの組合せである、複合物。
(付記15)
60~90重量パーセントの付記7に記載の紙及び10~40重量パーセントの樹脂を含む、付記14に記載の複合物。

- 紙であって、前記紙の全重量に基づいて60~99重量パーセントのアラミド繊維パルプを含み、前記繊維パルプは、繊維、及び前記繊維の表面にコーティングとして存在する、前記紙の全重量に基づいて1~40重量パーセントのポリビニルピロリドンを含み、前記コーティングは、前記繊維に化学的にも静電的にも結合されていないものであり、前記紙は、アラミドフロックをさらに含み、前記フロックは、繊維を含み、そのフロックは、前記紙の全重量に基づいて1~30重量パーセントの量で存在し、ここで、前記ポリビニルピロリドンは、前記アラミド繊維パルプ繊維及び前記アラミドフロック繊維の表面にコーティングとして存在し、且つ前記アラミド繊維パルプは、前記紙の全重量に基づいて98重量パーセント以下である、紙。
- 紙であって、前記紙の全重量に基づいて60~99重量パーセントのアラミド繊維パルプを含み、前記繊維パルプは、繊維、及び前記繊維の表面にコーティングとして存在する、前記紙の全重量に基づいて1~40重量パーセントのポリビニルピロリドンを含み、前記コーティングは、前記繊維に化学的にも静電的にも結合されていないものであり、前記紙は、アラミドフロックとアラミドフィブリドとの組合せをさらに含み、前記アラミドフロック及びアラミドフィブリドは、繊維を含み、そのアラミドフロックとアラミドフィブリドとの組合せは、前記紙の全重量に基づいて1~30重量パーセントの量で存在し、ここで、前記ポリビニルピロリドンは、前記アラミド繊維パルプ繊維並びに前記アラミドフロック繊維及び前記アラミドフィブリドの表面にコーティングとして存在し、且つ前記アラミド繊維パルプは、前記紙の全重量に基づいて98重量パーセント以下である、紙。
- フィラー又は摩擦改質粒子をさらに含む、請求項1又は2に記載の紙。
- 40~95重量パーセントの請求項1又は2に記載の紙及び5~60重量パーセントの樹脂を含み、ここで、前記樹脂は、フェノール樹脂、シリコーン、ポリイミド、又はそれらの組合せである、複合物。
