式(I)、(II)、(III)または(IV)の錯体を含む配位構造体ならびに合成後改質構造体は酸化還元活性があり、かつ多孔質であり、かつ様々なゲスト、例えばガス、溶媒(揮発性溶媒を含む)および/またはイオン(例えば金属イオン)を捕捉することができるいくつかの内部サイトを有する。高結晶化度を有する配位構造体は、ゲストを捕捉するより高い空隙率および著しく大きい容量を有する傾向がある。構造体の高結晶化度は、多孔性、したがってゲストを収着する容量を促進する重要な特徴である。高結晶化度を有する配位構造体は、原子の長距離秩序と短距離秩序の両方を有し、これは、配位構造体の空隙/チャネルを出入りするゲストの効率的な流れに有利であると考えられる。この理論的根拠は、((i)X線回折スペクトルにおけるピークの広がり;(ii)X線回折パターンにおける低強度ピーク;または(iii)X線回折スペクトルにおける低Q/低角におけるピークのみ(すなわち、より高角のピークがない)のうちの1つまたは複数から分かるように)構造体が結晶性でない場合または何らかの短距離秩序のみを示す場合は、ゲストは短い距離だけしか構造体内に進むことができず、したがって、理論上、材料の表面からより遠い空隙/チャネルは利用できないため、構造体の機能性が急速に低下することである。

ゼロ熱膨張(ZTE)および負熱膨張(NTE)は物理化学的特性であり、それによって材料は、加熱時に大部分の材料がそうであるように膨張するのではなく、寸法変化または収縮しない。ZTE材料およびNTE材料は、過去30年にわたり家庭的(例えば耐熱性の台所用品において)および工業的(例えば電子機器、熱機関部品、耐熱自動車部品および多種多様な航空宇宙技術において)に様々な使用向けにますます関心を集めた。商業的なZTE技術およびNTE技術は大部分がLAS系(Li2O-A12O3-SiO2)によるセラミックベースであり、台所用品と航空宇宙工学の業界の両方を支配してきた。
・現在の商業的な熱衝撃材料の多くが疲労および応力を受ける。バルクセラミックはZTEを示すように見受けられるが、ナノスケールでは、各微結晶が、微結晶界面に沿った「割れ」につながる異方的熱膨張を示す。
・広い温度範囲にわたる等方的ZTEまたはNTEの新しい用途が薄膜、量子計算、エネルギー貯蔵およびマイクロエレクトロニクスなどの様々な分野において出現している。
室温を含む広い温度範囲にわたって等方的NTEを示す酸化物材料はほとんどなく、等方的ZTEを示すものはない。ZrW2O8が現在、25~400K(α=-8.7×10-6K-1)および500~1000K(α=-4.7×10-6K-1)からのNTEの2つの異なる相を有する最も広い温度範囲にわたって等方的NTEの記録を持つ。

式(I)、(II)、(III)または(IV)の錯体を含む配位構造体および合成後改質構造体は、典型的には酸化還元活性があり、かつ多孔質である。いくつかの実施形態において、構造体は半導電性である。酸化還元活性のある構造体は、結晶化度または性能が顕著に低下することなく(例えば容量保持率90%超)、高サイクル(例えば、2000回を上回る充電、理論的には50000回を上回る充電)でエネルギー貯蔵装置(例えばバッテリー)として機能することができる。したがって、これらの構造体は、結晶化度または性能が顕著に低下することなく、イオン(例えば電子)およびエネルギー運搬ガス(例えばH2、O2およびCH4)をオンデマンドで保持および移動する装置として機能することができる。
MII 2[FeII(CN)6]およびMII 2[RuII(CN)6]
1 MII 2[FeII(CN)6]およびMII 2[RuII(CN)6]のバルク粉末合成
1.1.1 粉末X線回折(PXRD)
Cu-Kα1(1.5406Å)線を使用する、Oxford Cryostream 700を備えたPANalytical X’Pert PRO MPD回折計で粉末X線回折(PXRD)パターンを収集した。アプリケーションソフトウェアはX’Pert Data Collector v2.2f[X’Pert Data Collector Version 2.2F;PANAlytical B.V.:Almelo,The Netherlands,2010]であり、測定器制御ソフトウェアはXPERT-PRO v1.9E[XPERT-PRO Version 1.9E;PANAlytical B.V.:Almelo,The Netherlands,2008]であった。サンプルをガラス毛管に充填し、これをゴニオメーターに取り付け、位置合わせし、ゴニオメーターを入射X線ビーム内で回転するようにセットした。データを2θ範囲7.5~55°内でステップサイズ0.013°で収集した。プログラムMercury[Mercury 1.4.2;Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre,2001]内のCambridge Crystallographic Data Centreによる単結晶データを使用して、シミュレートした粉末回折パターンを作成した。
Varian WinUVソフトウェアに接続したOmni Diff Probeアタッチメントを備えたCARY 5E UV/Vis/NIR分光光度計を使用してUV/Vis/NIRスペクトルを記録した。固体状態のサンプルを高密度濾紙の上に載せ、その上にOmni Diff Probeを配置した。1サンプル当たり2つの測定値を記録し、ノイズを低減するために平均した。
Single Bounce Diamond/KRS-5減衰全反射(ATR)アクセサリーを備えたBruker IFS 66v FTIRを使用してFTIRスペクトルを記録した。最低限の量の結晶性粉末を結晶界面と密接に接触させて置き、360~4500cm-1をスキャンした。すべての測定を乾燥二窒素雰囲気中で行った。1サンプル当たり2つのスペクトルを記録し、バックグラウンド干渉に起因するノイズを低減するために平均した。
488nm、514nmおよび633nmレーザを動作させる空間分解能1~5μmのRenishaw Raman inVia Reflex(自動顕微鏡)でラマン研究を実施した。高速勾配温度制御ユニットアタッチメントに結合したLinkam VT Sample Cellを使用して、Renishaw Raman inVia Reflexで可変温度ラマンを実施した。
Bioanalytical Systems BAS 100A Electrochemical Analyserを使用して、アルゴン下、電気化学的測定を実施した。グラッシーカーボン作用電極、白金線補助電極およびAg/Ag+線擬参照電極を使用して、アルゴン下、無水CH3CNに溶解した0.1M [(n-C4H9)4N]PF6中、25℃でサイクリックボルタモグラムおよび矩形波ボルタモグラムを記録した。最低限のアセトン中に分散させた粉末サンプル中に電極を浸漬し、これをNafionで固定することにより固体状態のサンプルをグラッシーカーボン作用電極上に取り付けた。バックグラウンド基準を得るために、Nafionを含むカーボン作用電極のスキャンを得た。Nafionは、フェロセン/フェロセニウム対(Fc+/Fc0)に対して-0.5mVのピークを示す。各実験を終えたら内部標準としてフェロセンを加えた。フェロセン/フェロセニウム対(Fc+/Fc0)はAg/Ag+に対して+250mVで生じた。電位は、Fc+/Fc0に対するmVで示される[Connelly, N. G.; Geiger, W. E. Chemical Reviews 1996, 96, 877]。
吸着等温線測定を、Micromeritics Instruments Inc.から供給されたAccelerated Surface Area&Porosimetry System(ASAP)2020を使用して実施した。事前に秤量したサンプル管にサンプルを入れ、移す間および秤量中に雰囲気ガスが侵入するのを防ぐためにTransealキャップをした。サンプルを高真空下170℃で12時間脱溶媒和した。脱気したサンプルの質量を測定し、排気したサンプル管を測定器の分析ポートに移した。高純度ヘリウムガスを使用して寒暖自由空間補正値(warm and cold free space correction)を得た。続いて、水素および窒素吸着ならびに脱着等温線を77Kで測定した。BET[Brunauer, S.; Emmett, P. H.; Teller, E. Journal of the American Chemical Society 1938, 60, 309]モデルを使用してデータを分析し、表面積を決定した。
以下の表に指定の試薬および量を使用して、上述のプロセスにより以下の例示的な配位構造体1~8を調製した。
合成後改質
以下で説明するのは、式(I)の完全に還元された(すなわち+2の酸化状態を有するMおよびM’)空いている配位構造体に対して実施した様々な合成後改質(PSM)実験の例である。
空隙表面改質剤(例えばNH3、エチレンジアミン、ピリジン、THFおよびチオフェン)を密封可能な大きいバイアルに入れた。式(I)([Cu2Fe(CN)6]および[Cu2Ru(CN)6]を除く)の配位構造体の排気し、脱溶媒和した乾燥高結晶化度粉末を、より大きいバイアル内のより小さい開いたバイアルに入れた。大きいバイアルを密封した。密封したガラスバイアルインバイアルセットアップ(vial-in-a-vial setup)を注文製作の固体UV-vis-NIR反射分光計にセットして、吸光度スペクトルのシフトを監視した。N-供与揮発性配位子が式(I)の配位構造体の空隙空間内で露出した金属サイトに結合すると、新しい低エネルギーバンドが現れる。分光学的測定は15分毎に継続する。この新しい低エネルギーバンドが最大に近づくように見えたら、セットアップから電源を切り、1barで1時間排気し、アルゴン流下に一晩置く。
低揮発性の空隙表面改質剤を、あらかじめ排気した丸底フラスコに、2,2-PB類の脱溶媒和した乾燥結晶性粉末の上から注入した。
Cu、AgおよびAuベースの類似体は空孔型2,2-PBモルフォロジーを形成しない。むしろ、これらは構造体内のCu、AgまたはAuの半分のヤーンテラー軸に沿って歪み、柱状ホフマン型MOF(金属有機構造体)に似た構造を形成する。柱状Cu、AgまたはAuは、その周りに4個の水を有する。これらの水は、スキーム1に記載の揮発法の間にN-およびO-供与配位子を使用して置換することができる。
固体UV-vis-NIR反射分光計と同時に使用することもできる加熱マントルスリーブ内にバイアルインバイアルセットアップをセットすることにより、より低揮発性の空隙表面改質剤(例えばピリジンおよびチオフェン)を、式(I)、(II)、(III)および(IV)の様々な配位構造体の空隙空間内にガスとして拡散させた。UV-vis-NIR分光計を使用して定量的に記録される変色として観察される(異なる波長におけるバンドの出現および消失として示される)ように配位子が進展するまで、バイアルインバイアルセットアップの温度を1分当たり1℃上昇させた。
配位子に関する注釈。60を超える単座、二座、三座および四座N-およびO-供与配位子を、式(I)、(II)、(III)および(IV)の様々な配位構造体に対して試験した。依然として結晶性であること、およびその構造がモルフォロジーを著しく変化させていないことが明らかになった新しい材料に対してX線回折法を行った。

- 前記空隙表面改質剤が、NH3、エチレンジアミン(H2NCH2CH2NH2)、ピリジン、モノフルオロC1-10アルキルアミン、ポリフルオロC1-10アルキルアミン、パーフルオロC1-10アルキルアミン、テトラヒドロフラン(THF)およびチオフェンから選択される、請求項12に記載の配位構造体。
- 式(IV)の錯体を含む配位構造体を調製する方法であって、

(式中、Aは、Li+、Na+およびK+から選択され、Mは、V、Cr、Mn、Fe、Co、Ni、Cu、Ag、Au、Zn、Ru、Rh、PdおよびPtから選択され、M’は、FeおよびRuから選択され、0<x≦8であり、Aは、構造体の空隙内に位置し;
前記配位構造体は90%超脱溶媒和されており、前記配位構造体は、Mが、V、Cr、Mn、Fe、Co、Ni、Zn、Ru、Rh、PdまたはPtである場合に面心立方
M2+イオンを含む第1の水性溶液を、[FeII(CN)6]4-もしくは[RuII(CN)6]4-のリチウム塩、ナトリウム塩またはカリウム塩を含む第2の水性溶液と、1日よりも長い時間前記第1の水性溶液と前記第2の水性溶液の間の拡散ゾーンを維持する条件下で接触させ、それによって前記拡散ゾーン内で式(IV)の錯体を含む前記配位構造体の沈殿物または懸濁物を形成すること;
式(IV)の錯体を含む配位構造体の沈殿物または懸濁物を単離すること;および
脱溶媒和すること
を含む、方法。 - 下記:
i)Mが、Cr、Mn、Fe、Co、Ni、Cu、Zn、RuおよびRhから選択される;
ii)前記M2+イオンが、M(CH3CH2COO)2、M(SO4)、その水和物およびそれらの混合物から選択される塩から誘導される;
iii)M2[M’(CN)6]中のMの95%超が+2の酸化状態にある;
iv)M2[M’(CN)6]中のM’の95%超が+2の酸化状態にある;
の一つまたは複数を満たす、請求項14に記載の方法。 - 請求項1から11のいずれか一項に記載の配位構造体を空隙表面改質剤と接触させることを含む、改質配位構造体を調製する方法。
- エネルギー貯蔵装置における請求項1~13のいずれか一項に記載の配位構造体の使用。
- 請求項1~13のいずれか一項に記載の配位構造体を含む、エネルギー貯蔵装置。
- 前記エネルギー貯蔵装置は、バッテリーまたはガス貯蔵装置である、請求項17に記載の使用または請求項18に記載の装置。
- 前記ガス貯蔵装置は、水素、酸素、またはメタンガス貯蔵装置である、請求項19に記載の使用または装置。
