Description
変換前ラメラ粒子は、ブリリアント銅104と呼ばれる市販製品としてCrescent Bronze(ウィスコンシン州オシュコシュ)から購入した。これらの変換前ラメラ粒子は、銅のみでできていた。その銅の変換前ラメラ粒子は、幅が約12ミクロンであり、物理的厚さが約0.2〜0.6ミクロンであった。5グラムの銅の変換前ラメラ粒子を、温度約50℃の250mlの化学浴に約60分間導入した。化学浴は、(NH4)2CO3/K2Sを2:5の比で含み、加えて、1%MBT(2−メルカプトベンゾチアゾール)、CAS#140−30−4、Sigma−Aldrich製)、8%の総固形分濃度が存在した。次いで、処理された銅粒子(例えば、変換ラメラ粒子)を化学浴から取り出して分析した。変換ラメラ粒子は、黒色に見え、5%未満の可視範囲における反射率を有し、L*a*b*色空間(L*)値が、24未満であった。特に、このサンプルは、20未満のL*および4パーセント未満の反射率を有していた。銅の変換前ラメラ粒子と変換された変換前のラメラ粒子の写真を図17に示す。変換前のラメラ粒子、表面変換(部分処理された粒子)および完全な変換(完全に処理された粒子)の分析を以下の表1および図18〜19中に示すグラフに示す。
銀の変換前ラメラ粒子を、AMESゴールドスミス、サウスグレンフォールズ、ニューヨーク12803から購入した。AMESゴールドスミスからの銀変換前ラメラ粒子製品は、電子グレード製品MB−499であった。その幅は、約10ミクロン、厚さは、約0.1〜0.6ミクロンであった。3組の1グラムの銀の変換前ラメラ粒子を、室温でそれぞれ、約7分間、30分間および45分間、3組の100mlの化学浴に導入した。各化学浴は、(NH4)2CO3/K2Sを2:5の比で含み、加えて、1%MBT(2−メルカプトベンゾチアゾール)を含んでいた。3.5%の総固形分濃度が存在した。次に、変換された銀ラメラ粒子を化学浴から取り出して分析した。変換された銀ラメラ粒子の各セットは、異なる色に見えた。可視範囲内の異なる波長での反射値は、L*>35で色に依存していた。
Claims (20)
- ラメラ粒子であって、当該ラメラ粒子は、
銅または銀の内部コアと、
前記銅または銀とは異なる第2の材料の外部層と、
前記ラメラ粒子の未変換部分と、
前記未変換部分の表面の外側に配置されている前記ラメラ粒子の変換部分とを含み、
前記未変換部分は、未変換内部コアと任意の未変換外部層を含み、
前記変換部分は、前記銅の化合物または銀の化合物と前記第2の材料とを含み、
前記変換部分は、任意の変換された内部コアと変換された外部層とを有し、
前記変換部分は、5%未満の可視範囲における反射率、前記内部コアの色とは異なる色および45.2未満の明度を有し、
前記ラメラ粒子が、10ミクロン〜50ミクロンの幅と0.1〜2ミクロンの厚さを有する、ラメラ粒子。 - 前記未変換部分が、0.4〜20ミクロンの範囲のスペクトル領域において光反射を提供し、前記変換部分が、前記スペクトル範囲の選択された領域において光を吸収する、請求項1に記載のラメラ粒子。
- 選択された領域が、前記可視範囲内にある、請求項2に記載のラメラ粒子。
- 前記変換部分が、前記可視範囲内の光を吸収する、請求項1に記載のラメラ粒子。
- 前記未変換部分が、赤外線反射を提供し、前記変換部分が、前記可視範囲内の光を変調して、所望の色を作成する、請求項1に記載のラメラ粒子。
- 前記所望の色が、赤色、黒色または白色のうちの1つである、請求項5に記載のラメラ粒子。
- 前記ラメラ粒子が、5:1以上のアスペクト比を有する、請求項1に記載のラメラ粒子。
- 前記未変換部分が、複数の層を含む、請求項1に記載のラメラ粒子。
- 前記複数の層が、少なくとも2つの異なる金属を含む、請求項8に記載のラメラ粒子。
- 前記複数の層の各層が、当該複数の層の他の各層とは異なる金属でできている、請求項9に記載のラメラ粒子。
- 前記変換部分が、色の化合物に化学的に変換されている、請求項1に記載のラメラ粒子。
- 前記未変換部分が、それぞれ異なる金属の複数の層を含み、前記変換部分が、誘電体材料によって前記複数の層から分離されている、請求項1に記載のラメラ粒子。
- 前記変換部分が、少なくとも1つの非光学機能を提供する、請求項1に記載のラメラ粒子。
- 前記少なくとも1つの非光学機能が、金属化学不動態化、カプセル化、防湿ならびに様々な塗料、ワニス、インクおよびその他のホスト材料との相互作用の向上のうちの少なくとも1つを含む、請求項13に記載のラメラ粒子。
- 前記変換部分が、製造された製品として、または前記塗料、インク、ワニスもしくは他の選択された媒体/キャリアに分散されたとき、または塗料、インク、ワニス、ポリマーもしくは他の媒体の乾燥および硬化した膜の最終コーティングに適用されたとき、前記ラメラ粒子の耐久性および信頼性を向上させる複数の機能を提供する、請求項13に記載のラメラ粒子。
- 請求項1に記載の複数のラメラ粒子を含む、メタリック効果顔料。
- 請求項1に記載の複数のラメラ粒子を含む、磁性顔料。
- 請求項1に記載の複数のラメラ粒子を含む、EMI減衰顔料。
- 複数の請求項1を含む、導電性顔料。
- 複数の請求項1を含む、熱伝導性顔料。
