Description
Claims (18)
- 偏光を生成するデバイスであって、
基板上に配置又は形成された複数のフォトニック結晶格子構造、量子ドット層、高屈折率層、青色発光ダイオードアレイ、拡散層、及びリフレクターフィルムを備えており、
前記複数のフォトニック結晶格子構造は、青色偏光の透過のための一以上の構造領域と、緑色偏光の透過のための一以上の構造領域と、赤色偏光の透過のための一以上の構造領域とを有する複数のフォトニック結晶格子構造であり、
前記量子ドット層として、前記緑色偏光の透過のための前記一以上の構造領域上に実質的に位置する緑色量子ドット層と、
前記赤色偏光の透過のための前記一以上の構造領域上に実質的に位置する赤色量子ドット層とを有し、
前記高屈折率層は、前記複数のフォトニック結晶格子構造、前記緑色量子ドット層及び前記赤色量子ドット層の上に配置されており、
前記青色発光ダイオードアレイは、当該青色発光ダイオードアレイの発光を前記赤色量子ドット層及び前記緑色量子ドット層が吸収して励起され、それぞれ赤色光及び緑色光を放射するように前記基板の横に配置されており、
前記拡散層は、前記基板の下に配置されており、かつ、
前記リフレクターフィルムは、前記拡散層の下に配置されている
ことを特徴とするデバイス。 - 液晶ディスプレイ(LCD)を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記複数のフォトニック結晶格子構造は、100〜400nmの格子ピッチ、100〜300nmの格子高さ、及び少なくとも20ミクロンの格子幅を有することを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載のデバイス。
- 前記緑色量子ドット層及び前記赤色量子ドット層はインクジェット印刷技術を用いて配置されることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載のデバイス。
- 前記緑色量子ドット層及び前記赤色量子ドット層は、約100nmの厚さであることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載のデバイス。
- 前記基板は、ガラス、ポリエチレンテレフタレート(PET)及びポリエチレン‐2,6‐ナフタレンジカルボキシレート(PEN)から成る群から選択される一つであることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載のデバイス。
- 前記高屈折率層は1.7より高い屈折率及び約100nmの層厚を有することを特徴とする請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載のデバイス。
- 前記緑色量子ドット層及び前記赤色量子ドット層は、10体積パーセントの緑色量子ドット及び赤色量子ドットの濃度をそれぞれ有することを特徴とする請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載のデバイス。
- 前記複数のフォトニック結晶格子構造は、リソグラフィー技術を用いて作られることを特徴とする請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載のデバイス。
- 偏光光源の製造方法であって、
基板上に、青色偏光の透過のための一以上の構造領域と、緑色偏光の透過のための一以上の構造領域と、赤色偏光の透過のための一以上の構造領域とを有する複数のフォトニック結晶格子構造を作製する工程と、
前記緑色偏光の透過のための前記一以上の構造領域上に実質的に位置する緑色量子ドット層を配置する工程と、
前記赤色偏光の透過のための前記一以上の構造領域上に実質的に位置する赤色量子ドット層を配置する工程と、
前記複数のフォトニック結晶格子構造、前記緑色量子ドット層及び前記赤色量子ドット層の上に高屈折率層をコーティングにより配置する工程と、
青色発光ダイオードアレイの発光を前記赤色量子ドット層及び前記緑色量子ドット層が吸収して励起され、赤色光及び緑色光を放射するように、前記青色発光ダイオードアレイを前記基板の横に配置する工程と、
前記基板の下に拡散層を配置する工程と、
前記拡散層の下にリフレクターフィルムを配置する工程と、
を備えることを特徴とする方法。 - 前記複数のフォトニック結晶格子構造は、100〜400nmの格子ピッチ、100〜300nmの格子高さ、及び少なくとも20ミクロンの格子幅を有することを特徴とする請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記緑色量子ドット層及び前記赤色量子ドット層はインクジェット印刷技術を用いて配置されることを特徴とする請求項10又は11に記載の方法。
- 前記緑色量子ドット層及び前記赤色量子ドット層は、約100nmの厚さであることを特徴とする請求項10〜12のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記高屈折率層は1.7より高い屈折率及び約100nmの層厚を有することを特徴とする請求項10〜13のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記基板は、ガラス、ポリエチレンテレフタレート(PET)及びポリエチレン‐2,6‐ナフタレンジカルボキシレート(PEN)から成る群から選択される一つであることを特徴とする請求項10〜14のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記緑色量子ドット層及び前記赤色量子ドット層は、10体積パーセントの緑色量子ドット及び赤色量子ドットの濃度をそれぞれ有することを特徴とする請求項10〜15のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記複数のフォトニック結晶格子構造は、リソグラフィー技術を用いて作られることを特徴とする請求項10〜16のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記偏光光源の製造方法はロールツーロール法であることを特徴とする請求項10〜17のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
