図1に示すように、実施例1の締結装置は、プレスユニット1と、高周波誘導加熱機3と、制御コンピュータ5とによって構成されている。この締結装置では、図16に示すように、締結具11によって、金属製の第1ワークW1と金属製の第2ワークW2との締結作業を行う。なお、第1ワークW1及び第2ワークW1の材質は適宜変更可能である。
変形例1では、軸体加熱工程において、第1ワークW1及び第2ワークW2が挿通された状態にある軸体110に対して、非接触の状態で第1高周波誘導コイル3bによる誘導加熱を行う。他の工程は、変形例1と同様である。この場合も、実施例1と同様の作用効果を奏することができる。
変形例2では、準備工程において、予め形成された中間具111を準備する。これにより、変形例2では、プレスユニット1に対して中間成形金型15を取り付けることが不要となる。また、変形例2では、実施例1における軸体加熱工程及び中間成形工程を省略することができる。そして、変形例2では、軸部加熱工程において、中間具111の軸部11bを第1、2ワークW1、W2の各挿通孔W10、W20に挿通させつつ非接触の状態で、軸部11bを加熱する。これにより、変形例2では、締結具11による第1ワークW1と第2ワークW2との締結作業をより迅速に行うことが可能となる。
実施例2の締結装置は、高周波誘導加熱機3が第1高周波誘導コイル3bに換えて、図18に示す第2高周波誘導コイル3dを有している。第2高周波誘導コイル3dも本発明における「高周波誘導コイル」の一例である。第2高周波誘導コイル3dには、先端部32と先端部33とが形成されている。先端部32は、実施例1における先端部31と同様の形状をなしている。先端部33は、先端部32と対称の形状となっている。つまり、先端部32には凹部32aが形成されており、先端部33には凹部33aが形成されている。これらの凹部32a及び凹部33aは、軸体110を囲包可能となっている。先端部32と先端部33とは、双方の間に第1ワークW1及び第2ワークW2を収容可能な間隔を設けつつ、軸体110、ひいては、締結具11の軸方向に整列して配置されている。また、この締結装置では、通電コントローラ3c(図1参照)は、第2高周波誘導コイル3dに電力を供給可能となっている。この締結装置における他の構成は実施例1の締結装置と同様であり、同一の構成については同一の符号を付して構成に関する詳細な説明を省略する。

- 挿通孔が貫設された複数のワークを締結具によって締結する締結方法であって、
第1頭部と、前記第1頭部と一体をなして軸方向に延びる軸部とからなる繊維強化樹脂製の中間具を準備する準備工程と、
前記軸部を前記各ワークの前記各挿通孔に挿通させつつ非接触の状態で、前記軸部のみを加熱する軸部加熱工程と、
前記軸部を前記各ワークの前記各挿通孔に挿通させた状態で、加熱された前記軸部を加圧することにより、前記第1頭部と対面する第2頭部を締結金型によって形成して、前記中間具を前記締結具として前記各ワークを締結する締結工程とを備え、
