呼吸フィルタカートリッジに使用される吸着剤は、通常、活性炭に基づいている。活性炭の特質は、有機蒸気(OV)を吸着する能力である。活性炭は、表面積は大きいものの、一般にアンモニアなどの低沸点の極性化合物を吸着することができないため、ある種の含浸剤を用いて汚染物を反応させ捕捉する。
本開示は、呼吸保護のための濾過媒体に関する。特に、濾過媒体は、呼吸気流から有害なガスを除去することができる、担持されていないフェリハイドライト材料である。フェリハイドライト材料は、低温の水性ベースのプロセスを使用して調製することができ、ドープされた材料とすることができる。
以下の詳細な説明では、本明細書の一部を形成し、いくつかの具体的な実施形態を例示として示す添付図面を参照する。本開示の範囲又は趣旨から逸脱することなく、他の実施形態が想定され、実施され得ることを理解されたい。したがって、以下の詳細な説明は、限定的な意味で解釈されてはならない。
(i)固体Fe(NO3)3・9H2Oと別の金属塩(例えばCu、Zn、Mn、Al)との組み合わせ及び混合を適切な化学量論比で混合容器中で行う。これらの粉末は、自由流動性(例えば、明白でない塊)粉末であって比較的均質に見えるように混合される。
(ii)自由流動性の重炭酸塩粉末を適切な比率で添加する。
(iii)次いで、得られた粉末混合物を手動で又は機械的に攪拌して共に粉砕して試薬を混合する。この混合物は、反応の過程で泡立って(CO2の発生と水の放出)、赤橙色のスラリに徐々に濃くなる。ガスの発生が止まるまで混合を続ける。この時間の後、撹拌混合物は濃くなって、褐色がかった固体になる。
(iv)得られた褐色物質を100〜105℃のオーブンに一定時間入れて、水分が10重量%未満になるまで乾燥させる。この時間の後、硝酸塩及び考えられる他の副生成物が乾燥した材料中に観察される。
(v)次いで当該固体を濾過装置に移し、適切な量の水で洗浄して、当該固体から水溶性塩副生成物を除去する。
(vi)洗浄された材料を100〜105℃のオーブンに一定時間置いて、10重量%未満又は5重量%未満の水分まで乾燥させる。この生成物は茶色である。
別途記載のない限り、Fe(NO3)3・9H2O、Cu(NO3)2・2.5H2O、Zn(NO3)2・6H2O、Fe2(SO4)3・2.5H2O、CuSO4・5H2O、NaOH、NH4HCO3及びNaHCO3は、Sigma−Aldrich Co.(St.Louis,MO,USA)から試薬等級で入手したものである。
ドープされていないフェリハイドライトは、Inorg.Chem.51(2012)6421.に記載された手順に従って調製した。要約すると、0.05モルのFe(NO3)3・9H2Oを0.15モルのNH4HCO3と、乳鉢と乳棒で30分間混合した。得られた生成物をマッフル炉内で静的空気下で100℃で14時間乾燥させた後、Fisherbrand濾紙(中間気孔率、等級P5)を備えた直径5cmのブフナー漏斗及び真空濾過装置を使用して、脱イオン水50mLで3回洗浄した。次に、濾過した固体を100℃で14時間乾燥させて、5重量%未満の含水量とした。続いて、得られた材料を、13mmのダイ及びCarverプレスを用いて、70000PSIの圧力を用いてペレットに成形した。次に、ペレットを粉砕し、20×40メッシュのサイズの顆粒にした。
NH4HCO3の代わりにNaHCO3を使用したことを除いて、実施例1と同様の手順を用いて、ドープされていないフェリハイドライトを調製した。NaHCO3を予め粉砕したFe(NO3)3・9H2Oに約30秒間攪拌しながら添加した。粉末混合物は赤橙色になり、最初の数分間にわたり撹拌中に二酸化炭素ガスの発生が認められた。暗褐色のスラリが硬化し、ガスの発生がもはや目立たなくなるまで、手動で乳棒による攪拌を約25分間続けた。続いて、固体混合物を乾燥し、100℃に設定したオーブンに置いた。14時間後、乾燥した固体は、凝集した材料の上に白色粉末コーティングを有するように見えた。この固体を濾過し、洗浄し、乾燥させ、実施例1と類似の方法で顆粒に形成した。
銅ドープされたフェリハイドライトは、最初のCu:Feのモル比1:9で調製された。予め粉砕した粉末のFe(NO3)3・9H2O(909g、2.25mol)、Cu(NO3)2・2.5H2O(59.7g、0.25mol)及びNaHCO3(609g、7.25mol)を別々の容器で秤量した。次いで、硝酸銅(II)を4Lのステンレス鋼製ボウル中で硝酸鉄(III)と組み合わせて、粉末を乳棒で数分間、よく混合した。重炭酸ナトリウムの添加後、粉末混合物は赤橙色になり、最初の数分間にわたって撹拌中に二酸化炭素ガスの発生が認められた。暗褐色のスラリが硬化し、ガスの発生がもはや目立たなくなるまで、手動で乳棒による攪拌を約45分間続けた。次に、固体混合物を乾燥し、100℃に設定したオーブンに14時間置いた後、乾燥した固体は、凝集した材料の上に白色粉末コーティングを有するように見えた。続いて、当該固体を、Fisherbrand濾紙(粗大気孔率、等級P8)を備えた直径11cmのブフナー漏斗に移した。真空濾過フラスコに漏斗を取り付けた後、当該固体を脱イオン水(500mLずつ3.5L)で洗浄した。当該固体を濾過し、5重量%未満の含水量まで乾燥させ、実施例1と類似の方法で顆粒化した。
銅ドープされたフェリハイドライトは、NaHCO3の代わりにNH4HCO3を使用したこと以外は、実施例3と類似の手順で、最初のCu:Feのモル比が1:4で調製した。最初の乾燥工程の後、乾燥した固体は、上面に堆積した青白色の結晶を有するように見えた。実施例3で観察されたような無色の洗浄液の代わりに、使用された最初の2Lの洗浄水に対して青色の濾液が観察された。濾過した固体を乾燥して5重量%未満の含水量とし、実施例1と類似の方法で顆粒化した。
Cu(NO3)2・2.5H2Oの代わりにZn(NO3)2・6H2Oを使用したこと、及び7.25モルの代わりに6.75モルのNH4HCO3を使用したこと以外は、実施例4と類似の手順で、亜鉛をドープしたフェリハイドライトを最初のZn:Feのモル比1:4で調製した。実施例4で観察された青い洗浄液の代わりに、オレンジ色の洗浄液が観察された。濾過した固体を乾燥して5重量%未満の含水量とし、実施例1と類似の方法で顆粒化した。
銅ドープされたフェリハイドライトは、最初のCu:Fe比が1:9で調製された。Fe2(SO4)3・2.5H2O(50.6g、0.10mol)の溶液を500mLの脱イオン水中で調製した。CuSO4・5H2O(5.74g、0.023mol)の別の溶液を500mLの脱イオン水中で調製した。次いで、これらの溶液を2000mLのビーカに加え、磁気的に攪拌した。5〜10分間の混合の後、3.0mol/LのNaOH溶液を、MasterFlexc(登録商標)蠕動ポンプを用いて約3.4mL/分の流量で滴下した。227mLを添加し、反応混合物のpHを約7にした後、NaOHの流れを停止させた。塩基の添加が完了した後、混合物を1.5時間撹拌したままにした。次に、撹拌を停止し、混合物を一晩16時間放置して沈殿させた。得られた上清の大部分(反応混合物体積で約70%)をビーカからデカントし、次いで、残りの内容物を、Fisherbrand濾紙(粗大気孔率、等級P8)を備えた直径11cmのブフナー漏斗に移した。真空濾過フラスコに漏斗を取り付けた後、当該固体を脱イオン水(250mLずつ750mL)で洗浄した。当該固体を濾過し、10重量%未満の含水量まで乾燥させた。乾燥した材料を粉砕し、20×40メッシュのサイズの顆粒にした。
管試験
管試験装置を破過試験に使用した。使用された試料管は、ベースの近くに細かいステンレス鋼メッシュを有するポリ塩化ビニル(PVC)(内径=6.5mm)で構成されている。これらの管には、試験のための特定量の濾過媒体顆粒が充填され、下端部を硬質表面に繰り返しタッピングすることによって一定の容積に充填される。試料管は、Ultra−torr(Swagelok)継手を使用して、柔軟なテフロンチューブ(「テフロン」は登録商標。)に接続されている。続いて、所望の濃度のチャレンジガスが、垂直管を通って管の上部(入口)部分を経由して指定された流量で供給され、更に、管の下端(出口)を通って吸着床を出る流出ガスは、分析のための検出器に移される。
1又は1.7ccのいずれかの容量に等しい、市販業者から得られた、又は所定の実施例に従って調製された濾過媒体顆粒の試料を、上記に概説した管試験装置に移し、秤量した。この場合、出口ガス流をMIRAN SapphIRe IR携帯型空気分析装置で分析した。肉眼で著しい体積減少が観察されなくなるまで、炭素を「軽くタッピング」した。次に、Linde(Whitby,ON,Canada)の認定ガス混合物の、空気中に約1000ppmの二酸化硫黄(SO2)を含有する調整空気(<15%RH)の約200mL/分の試験流に管内の試料を曝した。濾過媒体顆粒から下流の空気をMIRAN SapphIRe IR携帯型空気分析装置を用いて破過についてモニタした。破過時間は、試料から下流で20ppmの濃度が観察された時間として定義した。
1又は1.7ccのいずれかの容量に等しい、市販業者から得られた、又は所定の実施例に従って調製された濾過媒体顆粒の試料を、上記に概説した管試験装置に移し、秤量した。この場合、出口ガス流をMIRAN SapphIRe IR携帯型空気分析装置で分析した。肉眼で著しい体積減少が観察されなくなるまで、炭素を「軽くタッピング」した。次に、Linde(Whitby,ON,Canada)の認定ガス混合物の、空気中に約1000ppmのアンモニア(NH3)を含有する調整空気(<15%RH)の約200mL/分の試験流に管内の試料を曝した。濾過媒体顆粒から下流の空気をMIRAN SapphIRe IR携帯型空気分析装置を用いて破過についてモニタした。破過時間は、試料から下流で20ppmの濃度が観察された時間として定義した。
1.7ccの容量に等しい、市販業者から得られた、又は所定の実施例に従って調製された濾過媒体顆粒の試料を、上記に概説した管試験装置に移し、秤量した。この場合、出口ガス流を炎イオン化検出器(GC−FID)を備えたガスクロマトグラフによって分析した。肉眼で著しい体積減少が観察されなくなるまで、炭素を「軽くタッピング」した。次いで、管内の試料を、約2000ppmのシアン化水素(HCN)を含有する約260mL/分の調整空気(15%RH未満)の試験流に曝した。濾過媒体顆粒から下流の空気を、HCN即ちチャレンジガスと、HCNの一般的な反応生成物であるシアン(NCCN)との双方に関して、GC−FIDシステムを用いて破過についてモニタした。破過時間は、試料から下流で5ppmのHCN又はNCCNの濃度が観察された時間として定義した。
40kVの電圧及び30mAの電流で操作されたPhillips PW1720 X線発生器を使用して、粉末X線回折パターンを収集した。このシステムは、Cu Kα放射源(波長=1.54178Å)及び回折ビームモノクロメータを備えている。典型的な条件は、0.05°/ステップの走査速度及び40秒/ステップの滞留時間であった。試料を微粉に粉砕し、アルミニウム試料ホルダーに載せた。
N2吸着等温線及び細孔径分布は、Micromeritics ASAP2010を用いて77Kで測定した。測定前に試料を100℃で2〜3日間脱気し、残留水分を除去した。細孔径分布は、Micromeritics(ASAP 2010 V5.03C)によって供給されるソフトウェアを用いてBJH法(1〜300nm)を使用して測定した。BJH法は公知の方法であり、E.P.Barrett,L.G.Joyner,P.H.Halenda,J.Am.Chem.Soc.73(1951)373に記載されている。
脱イオン水を分散剤として使用して2分間超音波処理した後、Malvern InstrumentsのHydro2000S付属ユニットを装備したMastersizer 2000(Ver.5.60)で、粒子サイズの測定(d(0.1)、d(0.5)及びd(0.9))を行った。

Claims (4)
- 1〜3nmの範囲の平均細孔径(BJH法)と、少なくとも200m2/g又は少なくとも250m2/g又は少なくとも300m2/gの表面積(BET)と、を有するドープされたフェリハイドライト材料を含み、前記ドープされたフェリハイドライト材料はCu又はZnであるドーパント材料を含む、呼吸保護フィルタ用組成物。
- 空気流入口と空気流出口とを有し、前記空気流入口と前記空気流出口との間かつ流体連通内に、多量の濾過媒体を含むハウジングを備え、
前記濾過媒体は、請求項1の組成物を含む、呼吸保護フィルタ。 - 前記濾過媒体は、少なくとも20重量%、又は少なくとも30重量%、又は少なくとも50重量%の、前記ドープされたフェリハイドライト材料を含む、請求項2に記載の呼吸保護フィルタ。
- 水和鉄(III)塩とCu又はZnを含む金属ドーパント塩とを組み合わせて混合物を形成することと、
重炭酸塩材料を前記混合物とブレンドして、ドープされたフェリハイドライト材料及び塩副生成物のスラリを形成することと、
前記の、ドープされたフェリハイドライト材料及び塩副生成物のスラリを、10重量%未満又は5重量%未満の含水量まで乾燥させて、乾燥した、ドープされたフェリハイドライト材料及び塩副生成物を形成することと、
前記塩副生成物を水で洗い流して、水を含むドープされたフェリハイドライト材料を形成することと、
前記水を含むドープされたフェリハイドライト材料を10重量%未満又は5重量%未満の含水量まで乾燥させて、乾燥したドープされたフェリハイドライト材料を形成することと、を含み、前記ドープされたフェリハイドライト材料は、1〜3nmの範囲の平均細孔径(BJH法)と、少なくとも200m 2 /g又は少なくとも250m 2 /g又は少なくとも300m 2 /gの表面積(BET)とを有する、呼吸保護フィルタ用組成物の製造方法。
