Description
三室電解槽の他に、陽極が設けられた陽極室と、陰極が設けられた陰極室と、当該陽極室と当該陰極室との間に設けられた隔膜としてのイオン交換膜とを備える二室電解槽がある。また、かかる二室電解槽の一つして、膜の一方の面に陽極が設けられ、他方の面に陰極が設けられるようにしたバイポーラ電極と、このバイポーラ電極の陽極側に設けられた陽極室と、上記バイポーラ電極の陰極側に設けられた陰極室との単位セルを、陽極室と陰極室との間に隔膜としてのイオン交換膜が設けられて連続的に配列させた二室電解槽が使用されることもある。さらに、電解プロセスによっては、上述したバイポーラ電極の陽極側に電解室が設けられ、陰極側に電解室が設けられた、隔膜を有していない(無隔膜の)単室電解槽もある。これらの単室電解槽や二室電解槽においても、電解室(陽極室や陰極室や中間室を含めて電解室と総称する。)には金属製の枠が用いられていた。
また、金属製ではなく、樹脂製の枠により形成されたエレメントからなる電解室も一部にはあった。
さらに、電気透析を行う電気透析槽においても、金属製の枠が用いられていた。
袋体と、該袋体の内部空間に収容された枠と、前記袋体における前記枠が収容された部分よりも外側に形成され、配管を取り付け可能な入口及び出口と、を備えることを特徴とする室枠エレメントである。
また、本発明の第1の態様においては、前記枠が、前記入口から流入された液を枠の内側に通し、枠の内側の液を前記出口に通す流路を有することが好ましい。この流路は、前記枠の外側と内側とに通じる溝若しくは管であるか、又は前記枠が多孔質材料により形成されているものとすることができる。
また、本発明の第1の態様においては、三室電解用の室枠エレメントであることが好ましい。
本発明の第3の態様は、第1の態様の室枠エレメントを備える電気透析槽である。
このような一連の電解分解処理に必要な流量が確保できるように、室枠エレメント14は、袋体141内で電解液の流路が形成されている必要がある。そこで本実施形態の室枠エレメント14は、袋体141の内部空間に枠142が設けられている。枠142は、樹脂製である。枠142の樹脂は、電解液によって腐食されることがない任意の樹脂を選択することができ、例えば、ポリエチレン、ポリエステル(PET等を含む)、ポリプロピレン、ポリ塩化ビニル、ポリスチレン、ポリウレタン等や、PTFE、PFA、PVC等の一般的なプラスチック等を用いることができる。
図3〜5から理解されるように、袋体は種々の形状とすることができる。
図6(a)に示すように、樹脂フィルムから袋体341を作成する。袋体341を作成する方法・装置は公知の方法、装置を用いることができる。後で枠342を袋体341の内部空間に挿入できるように、袋体341の少なくとも一面は、開放できるようにしておく。
次に、図6(c)に示すように、袋体341に入口343及び出口344を形成し、入口343及び出口344のそれぞれにノズル345を取り付ける。なお、図6(b)に示した開口341aの形成と、入口343及び出口344の形成との順序は任意であり、入口343及び出口344の形成を先に行った後で、開口341aの形成をしてもよい。
次に、図6(d)に示すように、袋体341内に枠342を挿入して相互に固着させ、また袋体341の外周部を接着剤やヒートシールにより封止する。

Claims (7)
- 電解槽用又は電気透析槽用の室枠エレメントであって、
袋体と、該袋体の内部空間に収容された枠と、前記袋体における前記枠が収容された部分よりも外側に形成され、配管を取り付け可能な入口及び出口と、を備えることを特徴とする室枠エレメント。 - 樹脂からなる請求項1記載の室枠エレメント。
- 前記枠が、前記入口から流入された液を枠の内側に通し、枠の内側の液を前記出口に通す流路を有する請求項1又は2記載の室枠エレメント。
- 前記流路が、前記枠の外側と内側とに通じる溝若しくは管であるか、又は前記枠が多孔質材料により形成されている請求項3記載の室枠エレメント。
- 三室電解槽用である請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の室枠エレメント。
- 請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の室枠エレメントを備える電解槽。
- 請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の室枠エレメントを備える電気透析槽。
