Description
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a crystal oscillator including a vibrating body having a crystal vibrating piece composed of various vibration modes and a pair of sealing bodies for sealing the vibrating body.
A conventional general crystal oscillator has a crystal vibrating piece having a predetermined vibration mode and shape, a ceramic case for accommodating the crystal vibrating piece, and a metal lid for sealing the crystal vibrating piece. It is formed. The crystal vibrating piece is electrically connected to an electrode portion provided in the case with a base end portion holding the vibrating arm portion via a conductive bonding agent.
On the other hand, a vibrating body formed by etching the crystal vibrating piece from the crystal wafer and a pair of wafer-shaped encapsulating bodies for encapsulating the crystal vibrating piece are integrally formed by sandwiching the vibrating body. Crystal oscillators manufactured by wafer level packaging are known.
Since the crystal oscillator formed by the wafer level package can collectively manufacture a large number of crystal oscillators from one crystal wafer, the manufacturing manpower and the manufacturing cost can be reduced, and the crystal oscillator itself can be made smaller and thinner. It has the advantage of being able to be converted.
In such a wafer level package, an internal electrode for electrical connection with the crystal vibrating piece is formed on the support frame of the vibrating body, and the vibrating body is sandwiched between a pair of sealing bodies. Therefore, only the thickness of the internal electrode is exposed to the outside. For this reason, in the case of electrically connecting to the internal electrode via an external electrode provided on the outside, in the conventional crystal oscillator structure, a contact portion between the internal electrode of the vibrating body and the external electrode formed by sputtering or the like. However, since it is only about 1000Å to 2000Å, which is substantially the same as the thickness of the internal electrode, there may be a problem in electrical characteristics such as poor continuity or an increase in the electrical resistance value of the connecting portion.
Conventionally, a method of forming a through-hole wiring on the substrate and connecting the extraction electrode extending from the excitation electrode and the external terminal is adopted for routing the internal electrode. However, as the package size becomes smaller, it becomes more difficult to form through holes. As described above, the process of forming the through hole requires time and cost, and there is a problem in terms of strength.
Regarding the sealing of the vibrating body, it is necessary to put the crystal vibrating piece in a state close to vacuum. Therefore, in
Further, in the conventional wafer level package manufacturing process, the vibrating body and the pair of encapsulants are divided into small pieces by dicing and then terminals are formed to ensure the continuity between the vibrating body and the encapsulating body by an external electrode. When doing so, it is difficult to secure the degree of vacuum when forming terminals, such as the air passage for vacuuming and the conductive part between the vibrating body and the external terminal being clogged due to cracks and dirt due to dicing or dicing residue, resulting in poor continuity. There is a problem that it is easy. Further, since the package is divided into small pieces, it is necessary to perform the post-process (sputtering, frequency adjustment) in small pieces, which causes a problem that the manufacturing man-hours increase.
Therefore, an object of the present invention is that a vibrating portion having a crystal vibrating piece composed of various vibration modes can be easily and surely airtightly sealed by a pair of sealing bodies, and electricity between the crystal vibrating piece and the outside can be achieved. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a crystal unit capable of improving the connection.
In order to solve the above problems, the method for manufacturing a crystal oscillator of the present invention includes a collective vibration substrate in which a plurality of vibrating bodies including a crystal vibrating piece and a support frame supporting at least one end of the crystal vibrating piece are formed, and the above-mentioned. A method for manufacturing a crystal oscillator in which a pair of collective sealing substrates formed of a plurality of pairs of sealing bodies to be bonded to the upper and lower surfaces of the vibrating body are joined via a conductive layer. A through hole is provided in a portion of the collective sealing substrate corresponding to the side surface forming the external electrode, and the concave portion inside the sealing body and the outside are communicated with the conductive layer on the corresponding side surface. The ventilation path is provided, and the pair of collective sealing substrates are joined to the upper and lower surfaces of the collective vibration substrate, and the external electrodes are formed on the side surfaces of the joined collective vibration substrate and the pair of collective sealing substrates. It is characterized by blocking.
According to the method for manufacturing a crystal oscillator of the present invention, a plurality of crystal oscillators are collectively formed by a collective vibration substrate on which a plurality of vibrating bodies are formed and a collective sealing substrate on which a plurality of sealing bodies are formed. Can be formed. Further, through holes are provided along a pair of facing side surfaces of each vibrating body formed on the collective vibration substrate and a pair of facing side surfaces of each sealing body formed on the pair of collective sealing substrates. By performing sputtering along the inner wall surface of the through hole, the external electrodes can be collectively formed.
Further, by providing a ventilation path in a part of the conductive layer for joining the collective vibration substrate and the pair of collective sealing substrates, the airtight sealing operation in a reduced pressure environment can be reliably and easily performed. Can be done.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the crystal unit of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. 1 to 6 show the
The crystal wafer has a plate shape with a cut angle rotated by about 1 ° X axis from the Z axis plane in a Cartesian coordinate system of rough quartz having an electric axis as an X axis, a mechanical axis as a Y axis, and an optical axis as a Z axis. It is formed by slicing thinly. Then, a mask pattern is formed on the crystal wafer by a photolitho step, and crystal etching is performed to form a tuning fork-shaped crystal vibrating piece composed of a
The vibrating
In the present embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 6, at least one
Since the
As shown in FIG. 8, the pair of sealing
The
The
On the upper surface of the
On the other hand, on the back surface of the
As shown in FIG. 5A, the
FIG. 7 shows other embodiments of the sealing
In the laminated structure of the vibrating

Next, as shown in FIG. 9B, the

Next, an embodiment of the
Next, a configuration example of the
By providing the
Since the
In the present embodiment, the
According to the
Further, by providing the
