Description
本発明における金属窒化物光触媒粒子および/または金属酸窒化物光触媒粒子は、可視光を吸収することにより、水分解して水素および/または酸素の生成が可能である。また、金属窒化物光触媒粒子および/または金属酸窒化物光触媒粒子の表面には後述するリン酸重合体が吸着されている。以下、本明細書において、「金属窒化物光触媒粒子および/または金属酸窒化物光触媒粒子」を単に「光触媒粒子」ということもある。
本発明で用いられるリン酸重合体はリン酸が重合したものである。好ましくは、リン酸が重合したオリゴマーが好ましい。リン酸の重合形態としては、直線状に重合したもの、環状に重合したもの、分岐して重合したものが挙げられる。本発明におけるリン酸重合体において、リン酸が重合した数、つまりリン酸ユニットの数は、好ましくは、2以上30以下であり、より好ましくは、3以上10以下であり、さらにより好ましくは、3以上6以下である。具体的なリン酸重合体として、リン酸が3個重合したトリポリリン酸、あるいはリン酸が6個重合したヘキサメタリン酸等、低分子量のものを用いることが好ましい。これにより、光触媒粒子の表面にリン酸重合体を単分子層で吸着させることができ、後述する光触媒複合粒子において光触媒粒子が有する光触媒活性が低下するのを抑制することができる。また、リン酸重合体に含まれるリン酸がアニオン性を有することから、対カチオンとして、アルカリ金属イオン(Li+、Na+、K+、Cs+)を含んでも良い。
本発明の光触媒複合粒子は、金属窒化物光触媒粒子および/または金属酸窒化物光触媒粒子と、当該光触媒粒子の表面に吸着してなるリン酸重合体とを含んでなるものである。光触媒粒子の表面にリン酸重合体が吸着してなる本発明の光触媒複合粒子は高い分散性を有する。ここで、光触媒粒子の形態は、単結晶で構成される一次粒子、あるいはこの一次粒子が複数凝集した二次粒子であることが可能である。本発明においては、光触媒粒子の形態が単結晶で構成される一次粒子であることが好ましい。これにより、光触媒粒子において光触媒活性を有する表面積を多くすることができる。光触媒粒子の形態が二次粒子である場合、二次粒子を形成する一次粒子の個数は、好ましくは2個以上20個以下であり、より好ましくは、2個以上10個以下であり、さらにより好ましくは、2個以上5個以下である。二次粒子の粒子径は、好ましくは30nm以上1μm以下であり、より好ましくは、50nm以上500nm以下である。これにより、溶媒中、特に水中に光触媒粒子を分散させた場合、安定な分散状態を維持することが可能となる。
本発明の光触媒複合粒子は、光触媒複合粒子の表面における酸素あるいは窒素欠陥が少ないことが好ましい。すなわち、本発明においては、光触媒複合粒子の表面における窒素原子濃度/(窒素原子濃度+酸素原子濃度)で表される原子濃度比Asurfaceと、光触媒複合粒子の内部における窒素原子濃度/(窒素原子濃度+酸素原子濃度)で表される原子濃度比Abulkとの比Asurface/Abulkが0.8以上1.2以下であることが好ましく、0.9以上1.1以下であることがより好ましく、0.9以上1.0以下であることがさらにより好ましい。光触媒複合粒子の表面における酸素あるいは窒素欠陥が少ないことで、結晶欠陥由来の近赤外領域の光吸収を少なくすることが可能となる。また、良好な光触媒活性を維持することが可能となる。
本発明の光触媒複合粒子は、助触媒を担持していることが好ましい。本発明で用いられる助触媒としては、可視光照射に伴う水分解反応を効率的に進行させることが可能であるものが好ましい。また、水の還元による水素生成反応、および/あるいは水の酸化による酸素生成反応の反応過電圧を低減することで、水素および/あるいは酸素の生成効率を向上させることが可能なものが好ましい。助触媒を担持することで、可視光照射に伴う水分解反応を効率的に進行させることが可能となる。具体的には、水の還元による水素生成反応を高効率化するものとしては、白金、ルテニウム、ロジウム、銀、金、酸化ルテニウム、酸化ロジウム、硫化モリブデン、硫化ニッケル、および硫化タングステンからなる群から選ばれる1種以上が挙げられる。また、水の酸化による酸素生成反応を高効率化するものとしては、ニッケル、マンガン、ルテニウム、コバルト、イリジウムからなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1種を含む、酸化物、水酸化物又はリン酸塩のいずれか1種以上が挙げられる。助触媒の粒子径は、好ましくは0.5nm以上50nm以下であり、より好ましくは、0.5nm以上20nm以下である。助触媒の粒子径は、透過型電子顕微鏡観察(TEM)により求めた10個の助触媒の粒子径の平均値を求めることで得ることができる。助触媒の担持量は、光触媒複合粒子の重量を1とすると、0.0001以上0.1以下が好ましく、0.001以上0.05以下がより好ましく、0.005以上0.03以下がさらに好ましい。助触媒の粒子径および担持量を上記の範囲とすることで、助触媒が光吸収するのを抑制しつつ、光触媒複合粒子の表面に助触媒を良好に分散させて担持させることが可能となる。また、光触媒複合粒子の表面に多くの水分解反応の活性点を持たせることが可能となる。
本発明の光触媒複合粒子は、溶媒中で高い分散安定性を発揮する。したがって、本発明の光触媒複合粒子を溶媒中に安定に分散させることができ、光触媒複合粒子が均一に分散した分散液を得ることができる。
本発明の光触媒複合粒子は、可視光照射下で、高い水分解反応活性を示す。表面に親水性のリン酸重合体が存在することで、反応対象物となる水との濡れ性が極めて高い。さらに、リン酸重合体は光励起により生成する電子や正孔によって還元あるいは酸化されにくい。したがって、長期間の光照射によっても、水との濡れ性が長期に維持でき、安定な水分解反応が達成可能である。
本発明における光触媒粒子の製造方法としては、所望の金属、あるいは、所望の金属を含む酸化物、水酸化物、および炭酸塩から選ばれる少なくとも1種からなる前駆体を窒化させて得る方法が好適に用いられる。窒化させる方法として、具体的には、アンモニア雰囲気中で、500℃以上の温度で焼成する方法が挙げられる。
所望の金属を含む酸化物又は水酸化物からなる前駆体の製造方法として、湿式反応法や高温の融剤中での結晶育成が可能であるフラックス法が利用可能である。湿式反応法としては、ゾル-ゲル法、錯体重合法、および水熱反応法等が挙げられる。例えば、ゾルーゲル法による作製方法としては、原料である金属アルコキシドや金属塩化物と水との加水分解反応により金属を含む水酸化物を生成し、これを600℃以上で焼成し、結晶化させる方法がある。
本発明における光触媒複合粒子の製造方法としては、光触媒粒子とリン酸重合体とを乾式混合または湿式混合する方法が挙げられる。乾式混合の方法としては、光触媒粒子とリン酸重合体とを粉体として乾式混合する方法と、光触媒粒子の表面にリン酸重合体を化学気相蒸着法(CVD)等で蒸着する方法が挙げられる。本発明において、湿式混合を用いて光触媒複合粒子を製造するのが好ましい。具体的には、少なくとも光触媒粒子とリン酸重合体と溶媒とをボールあるいはビーズ等の分散メディアを用いずに混合する方法が好適に利用できる。これにより光触媒複合粒子が溶媒に分散した分散液を得ることができる。また、この分散液から、溶媒を分離させることで、光触媒複合粒子を得ることができる。溶媒を分離する方法としては、加熱乾燥、遠心分離、ろ過等が挙げられる。混合方法としては、撹拌、シェーカーを用いた振とう、超音波照射等が好ましく用いられる。より好ましいのは、攪拌である。攪拌は、撹拌子や撹拌羽根等を用いて行われるのが好ましい。これにより、光触媒複合粒子の分散性を向上させることができる。この理由として、光触媒粒子が二次粒子を形成している場合、二次粒子の内部にリン酸重合体が徐々に拡散し、二次粒子を構成する一次粒子の表面に吸着する。これにより、溶媒が二次粒子の内部、すなわち一次粒子の間隙に浸透する。その結果、一次粒子の表面に溶媒が濡れやすい状態を形成することが可能となると考えられる。また、光触媒粒子の表面にリン酸重合体を単分子層で吸着させることができる。さらに、攪拌では粒子同士の機械的な激しい衝突はほとんど生じないことから、光触媒複合粒子の表面欠陥の形成を抑制することができ、光触媒粒子が有する光触媒活性を維持することができる。
本発明において、上述のように、少なくとも光触媒粒子とリン酸重合体と溶媒とを混合することで、光触媒複合粒子が分散した分散液を得ることができる。溶媒は、光触媒複合粒子が分散可能なものであればよい。具体的には、水、メタノール、エタノール、イソプロピルアルコール、n−プロピルアルコール、エチレングリコール、セロソルブ溶媒(メチルセロソルブ、エチルセロソルブ等)、カルビトール溶媒(エチルカルビトール、ブチルカルビトール等)、ジメチルスルホキシド、アセトニトリル、アセトン、およびジメチルホルムアミドからなる群から選ばれる1つ以上を用いることが好ましい。より好ましくは、室温での比誘電率が25以上の高極性溶媒であり、水、メタノール、エチレングリコール、セロソルブ溶媒(メチルセロソルブ、エチルセロソルブ等)、カルビトール溶媒(エチルカルビトール、ブチルカルビトール等)、ジメチルスルホキシド、アセトニトリル、およびジメチルホルムアミドからなる群から選ばれる1つ以上である。これにより、高い極性を有するリン酸基との相互作用を高めることができる。さらに好ましくは、水である。混合方法は前述と同様の方法を用いることができる。また、この分散液から光触媒複合粒子を遠心分離やろ過等の方法を用いて分離させて、再度上述の混合の方法を用いて別の溶媒に分散させて分散液を得ることもできる。
本発明の光触媒複合粒子は、基材に固定化して、光触媒材として用いることが可能である。これにより、太陽光等の可視光を光触媒材に照射した際に、長期間安定に水を分解し、水素および/あるいは酸素を生成することが可能である。本発明において、光触媒複合粒子は、例えば、リン酸重合体に含まれるリン酸基を介してエステル結合により基材に固定化される。その他、基材に正電荷を付与し、クーロン相互作用を利用したイオン結合(静電吸着)により、光触媒複合粒子を基材に固定化する方法も好適に利用できる。具体的には、基材表面のゼータ電位が正に十分帯電し、かつ、光触媒複合粒子の表面が負に帯電する条件で、光触媒複合粒子を基材に固定化する方法が挙げられる。なお、基材表面に正電荷を付与しない場合であっても、エステル結合により好適に固定化することができる。
本発明において、光触媒複合粒子が溶媒に分散した分散液を基材表面に適用して、光触媒複合粒子を基材に固定化させて、光触媒材を得ることができる。例えば、正電荷を付与した基材、または、表面にリン酸基とエステル結合を形成可能な金属を含む基材を用い、この基材の表面に光触媒複合粒子が溶媒に分散した分散液を適用することにより光触媒材を得る。基材表面に分散液を適用する方法としては、分散液を基材に塗布する方法や、分散液に基材を浸漬させる方法が挙げられる。塗布する方法としては、スピンコート法、ディップコート法、ドクターブレード法、スキージ法、スクリーン印刷法等を用いることができる。
本発明の水分解用光触媒モジュールは、前記光触媒材を含む。本発明の好ましい態様によれば、本発明による水分解用光触媒モジュールは、概ね透明な光入射面を有し、モジュール内部に設置した光触媒材に光が入射する構造を有している。さらに、光触媒材が常に水と接触可能なように、水を封入可能な密閉パネル形状を有している。また、本発明のより好ましい態様によれば、本発明による水分解用光触媒モジュールは、水分解反応の進行により減少する水を遂次的に追加供給可能な通水孔等の機構をさらに有することが好ましい。このような構成の水分解光触媒モジュールとすることで、実用的に利用可能な水素を製造することが可能となる。
本発明の水素製造システムは、前記水分解用光触媒モジュールを含む。本発明の好ましい態様によれば、本発明による水素製造システムは、水の供給装置、水中の不純物をある程度除去するためのろ過装置、水分解光触媒モジュール、水素分離装置、および水素貯蔵装置を含むものである。このような構成の水素製造システムとすることで、再生可能エネルギーである太陽光と水から水素を実用的に製造可能なシステムを実現することが可能となる。
La2O3(和光純薬)3.26g(0.01mol)およびTiO2(ルチル型:和光純薬)0.80g(0.01mol)を乳鉢で5分混練し、これらを均一に混合し、混合粉末を得た。その後、この混合粉末に、NaCl(和光純薬)とKCl(和光純薬)とを等モルで混合した粉末4.06gを添加した。その後、蒸留水を5g添加し、蒸留水が十分に乾燥するまで乳鉢で混練し、フラックス合成用原料粉末を得た。次いで、フラックス合成用原料粉末を、アルミナ製るつぼに入れて蓋をした後、10℃/分で昇温し、1000℃で5時間保持した。その後、自然冷却し、フラックス合成法によりLa2Ti2O7粉末を得た。
10mLサンプル管瓶に、ニオブペンタエトキシド(和光純薬)0.02molを入れて、攪拌しながら、アセチルアセトン(和光純薬)0.02molを1分かけて滴下し、ニオブ−アセチルアセトン錯体を含む黄色溶液を得た。この黄色溶液を、乳酸(和光純薬)0.01molを溶解させた蒸留水50mLに1分かけて滴下し、室温で30分攪拌して、水溶性ニオブ錯体水溶液を作製した。この水溶性ニオブ錯体水溶液に、酢酸ストロンチウム・0.5水和物(和光純薬)0.01molを溶解させた蒸留水5mLを1分かけて滴下し、Sr2Nb2O7前駆体水溶液を作製した。この前駆体水溶液に、焼成後に得られるSr2Nb2O7に対して、重量比で5倍の固形分となるように、アクリル−スチレン系O/W型エマルジョン(DIC製、“EC−905EF”、分散粒子径100〜150nm、pH:7〜9、固形分濃度49〜51%)を添加し、分散体を調製した。この分散体を、80℃で1時間乾燥させた後、800℃で5時間焼成し、高温結晶化させ、Sr2Nb2O7粒子からなる粉末を得た。
10mLサンプル管瓶に、タンタルペンタエトキシド(和光純薬)0.002molを入れて、攪拌しながら、アセチルアセトン(和光純薬)0.002molを1分かけて滴下し、タンタル−アセチルアセトン錯体を含む黄色溶液を得た。この黄色溶液を、無水酢酸(和光純薬)0.001molおよびクエン酸1水和物(和光純薬)0.006molを溶解させた蒸留水5mLに1分かけて滴下し、室温で30分攪拌して、水溶性タンタル錯体水溶液を作製した。この水溶性タンタル錯体水溶液に、焼成後に得られるTa2O5に対して、重量比で5倍の固形分となるように、アクリル−スチレン系O/W型エマルジョン(DIC製、“EC−905EF”、分散粒子径100〜150nm、pH:7〜9、固形分濃度49〜51%)を添加し、分散体を調製した。この分散体を、80℃で1時間乾燥させた後、800℃で5時間焼成し、高温結晶化させ、Ta2O5粒子からなる粉末を得た。
(実施例1〜10)
光触媒粒子1〜3と、表1に示すリン酸重合体と、水とを表1に示す配合比で混合し、混合液を得た。この混合液を、スターラーを用いて、室温で3日間攪拌し光触媒複合粒子が分散した分散液を作製した。

光触媒粒子1、2と、水とを表1に示す配合比で混合し、混合液を得た。この混合液を、スターラーを用いて、室温で3日間攪拌した。その後、1mmφジルコニアビーズ5gを含む50mLポリエチレン製ボトルに投入して、15時間ボールミル処理して光触媒粒子が分散した分散液を作製した。
得られた分散液の分散性の評価を行った。評価は、攪拌終了後、5時間以内に、目視で粒子が全て沈降した場合を×とし、全て沈降しない場合を○とした。結果を表1に示す。
得られた分散液の光触媒複合粒子濃度が1質量%、pHが8になるように調整した。この調整した分散液を、動的光散乱式粒度分布装置(大塚電子製ELSZ-1000)を用いて評価し、得られた散乱強度分布からCumulant法により、光触媒複合粒子の平均粒子径および表面ゼータ電位を測定した。結果を表1に示す。その結果、上述したSEM観察による平均一次粒子径と、Cumulant法による平均粒子径は概ね同一であった。また、光触媒複合粒子は、分散液中でほぼ単分散の状態であることが確認された。
XPS測定により、作製した光触媒複合粒子および光触媒粒子のAsurface/Abulkを評価した。装置として、PHI QUANTERA II(アルバックファイ社製、X線源:単色化AlKα(1486.6eV))を用いた。
実施例10および比較例5で作製した分散液を遠心分離(6000rpm、5分)して得られた沈殿物を100℃で30分乾燥することにより、光触媒複合粒子および光触媒粒子を得た。これらの粒子の可視光照射による水分解活性を以下の方法で調べた。パイレックス(登録商標)製上方照射用の窓付きのガラスフラスコに、Ta3N5粉末0.05gと、犠牲試薬となる硝酸銀(和光純薬製)を50mmol/L、pHバッファーとなるLa2O3粉末(和光純薬製)を50mmol/L含む水溶液100mlを入れて、スターラーで撹拌して、反応溶液とした。そして、この反応溶液を入れたガラスフラスコを閉鎖循環装置(幕張理化学製)に装着し、反応系内の雰囲気をアルゴン置換した。そして、UVカットフィルター(L−42、HOYA製)を装着した300Wキセノンランプ(Cermax製、PE−300BF)により、可視光をパイレックス(登録商標)窓側から照射した。そして、3時間光照射した後の、水が酸化されて生成する酸素の発生量を、ガスクロマトグラフ(GLサイエンス製、GC−8A、TCD検出器、MS−5Aカラム)により経時的に調べた。
実施例9で作製した分散液を用いて、光触媒複合粒子をガラス基板表面に固定化させた。固定化は以下のとおり行った。先ず、ホウケイ酸ガラス(10×10×1mm厚)の表面を清浄した後、その表面に、ポリエチレンイミン(和光純薬)を溶解させた0.25質量%水溶液を用いて、スピンコート(5000rpm、20秒)処理し、正電荷を付与したガラス基板を作製した。次いで、この基板を、SrNbO2Nのトリポリリン酸分散液に室温で1時間浸漬させた後、蒸留水で洗浄し、光触媒材を得た。
Claims (16)
- 可視光照射により水分解可能な金属窒化物光触媒粒子および/または金属酸窒化物光触媒粒子と、当該光触媒粒子の表面に吸着してなるリン酸重合体とを含んでなる、光触媒複合粒子であって、
前記光触媒複合粒子の表面における窒素原子濃度/(窒素原子濃度+酸素原子濃度)で表される原子濃度比A surface と、前記光触媒複合粒子の内部における窒素原子濃度/(窒素原子濃度+酸素原子濃度)で表される原子濃度比A bulk との比A surface /A bulk が、0.8以上1.2以下である、光触媒複合粒子。 - 前記光触媒複合粒子と純水とからなり、当該光触媒複合粒子の濃度が1質量%である分散液の表面ゼータ電位が、−30mV以下である、請求項1に記載の光触媒複合粒子。
- 前記金属窒化物光触媒粒子および/または金属酸窒化物光触媒粒子と前記リン酸重合体との重量比が1:0.005以上1:0.3以下である、請求項1または2に記載の光触媒複合粒子。
- 助触媒を担持してなるものである、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の光触媒複合粒子。
- 可視光による水分解反応に用いられる、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の光触媒複合粒子。
- 水と接触している請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の光触媒複合粒子に可視光を照射することを含んでなる、水分解方法。
- 請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の光触媒複合粒子と、当該光触媒複合粒子を分散可能な溶媒とを含んでなる、分散液。
- 基材と、当該基材表面に固定化されてなる請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の光触媒複合粒子とを含んでなる、光触媒材。
- 前記光触媒複合粒子が、前記リン酸重合体に含まれるリン酸基により、前記基材表面に固定化されてなる、請求項8に記載の光触媒材。
- 前記光触媒複合粒子が、前記リン酸基を介して、イオン結合またはエステル結合により前記基材表面に固定化されてなる、請求項9に記載の光触媒材。
- 可視光による水分解反応に用いられる、請求項8〜10のいずれか一項に記載の光触媒材。
- 請求項8〜10のいずれか一項に記載の光触媒材を含んでなる、水分解用光触媒モジュール。
- 請求項12に記載の水分解用光触媒モジュールを含んでなる、水素製造システム。
- 金属窒化物光触媒粒子および/または金属酸窒化物光触媒粒子と、リン酸重合体と、溶媒とを、分散メディアを用いずに混合することを含んでなる、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の光触媒複合粒子の製造方法。
- 前記混合の方法が撹拌である、請求項14に記載の光触媒複合粒子の製造方法。
- 請求項7に記載の分散液を前記基材の表面に適用することを含んでなる、請求項8〜10のいずれか一項に記載の光触媒材の製造方法。
