Description
本開示の一態様における目的は、表示品位を向上させることが可能な高速応答モードの液晶表示装置を提供することである。
なお、開示はあくまで一例に過ぎず、当業者において、発明の主旨を保っての適宜変更について容易に想到し得るものについては、当然に本発明の範囲に含有される。また、図面は、説明をより明確にするため、実際の態様に比べて模式的に表される場合があるが、あくまで一例であって、本発明の解釈を限定するものではない。各図において、連続して配置される同一又は類似の要素については符号を省略することがある。また、本明細書と各図において、既出の図に関して前述したものと同一又は類似した機能を発揮する構成要素には同一の参照符号を付し、重複する詳細な説明を省略することがある。
図1は、第1実施形態に係る液晶表示装置1の概略的な構成を示す斜視図である。液晶表示装置1は、例えば、スマートフォン、タブレット端末、携帯電話端末、パーソナルコンピュータ、テレビ受像装置、車載装置、ゲーム機器、ウェアラブル端末等の種々の装置に用いることができる。
第1基板SUB1は、光透過性を有するガラス基板や樹脂基板などの第1絶縁基板10を備えている。第1絶縁基板10は、第2基板SUB2と対向する第1主面10Aと、第1主面10Aの反対側の第2主面10Bとを有している。さらに、第1基板SUB1は、スイッチング素子SWと、第1電極E1と、第2電極E2と、第1絶縁層11と、第2絶縁層12と、第1配向膜13とを備えている。
図5は、第1電極E1(第1領域A1)の一部と、液晶層LCに含まれる液晶分子LMの初期配向状態とを示す図である。隙間領域50は、幅方向(第1方向D1)において第1長辺51と第2長辺52とを有している。
第2実施形態について説明する。ここでは主に第1実施形態との相違点に着目し、第1実施形態と同一の構成については説明を適宜省略する。

Claims (8)
- 第1基板と液晶分子を含む液晶層とを有する液晶表示装置であって、
前記第1基板は、複数の映像信号線と、前記映像信号線に電気的に接続された画素電極と、前記画素電極と対向し、前記画素電極との間で電界を発生させて前記液晶分子を回転させる共通電極と、第1領域と第2領域とを有する複数の副画素領域と、を備え、
前記第1領域は前記画素電極がある領域であり、前記第2領域は前記画素電極がない領域であり、
前記第1領域は、互いに隣り合う第1主領域と第2主領域を有し、前記第1主領域と前記第2主領域は、第1方向に並ぶとともに、前記第1方向に交わる第2方向に延在し、
前記副画素領域は、前記第2方向において第1側と第2側を有し、前記第1方向において第3側と第4側を有し、
前記電界が発生している場合、前記第1主領域の前記第4側の辺近傍と、前記第2主領域の前記第3側の辺近傍とで、前記液晶分子の回転方向が異なっており、
前記第2領域は、前記第1主領域と前記第2主領域の間に前記第2方向に延在する第1隙間領域を有し、

液晶表示装置。 - 第1基板と液晶分子を含む液晶層とを有する液晶表示装置であって、
前記第1基板は、複数の映像信号線と、前記映像信号線に電気的に接続された画素電極と、前記画素電極と対向し、前記画素電極との間で電界を発生させて前記液晶分子を回転させる共通電極と、第1領域と第2領域とを有する複数の副画素領域と、を備え、
前記第1領域は前記共通電極がない領域であり、前記第2領域は前記共通電極がある領域であり、
前記第1領域は、互いに隣り合う第1主領域と第2主領域を有し、前記第1主領域と前記第2主領域は、第1方向に並ぶとともに、前記第1方向に交わる第2方向に延在し、
前記副画素領域は、前記第2方向において第1側と第2側を有し、前記第1方向において第3側と第4側を有し、
前記電界が発生している場合、前記第1主領域の前記第4側の辺近傍と、前記第2主領域の前記第3側の辺近傍とで、前記液晶分子の回転方向が異なっており、
前記第2領域は、前記第1主領域と前記第2主領域の間に前記第2方向に延在する第1隙間領域を有し、
前記第1隙間領域は、前記第2方向における第1端部及び第2端部と、前記第1端部と前記第2端部の間の中央部とを有し、
前記第1方向における前記第1隙間領域の幅は、前記第1端部、前記中央部、前記第2端部の順に大きくなり、
前記第1隙間領域は、前記第1端部、前記中央部、及び前記第2端部に亘る長辺を有し、
前記長辺は、前記第1端部の近傍の第1部分と、前記第2端部の近傍の第2部分と、前記中央部の近傍の第3部分とを有し、
前記第1部分と前記第2部分が平行であり、前記第3部分が前記第1部分及び前記第2部分に対して傾斜している、
液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1基板は、前記複数の映像信号線と交差する複数の走査信号線を備え、
前記第1部分及び前記第2部分は、前記走査信号線と平行である、

請求項1乃至4のうちいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1領域は、前記第1方向において前記第2主領域と隣り合う第3主領域と、前記第2主領域と前記第3主領域を接続する第2接続領域と、をさらに有し、
前記第1接続領域は、前記第2方向において前記第1側にあり、前記第2接続領域は、前記第2方向において前記第2側にある、
請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2領域は、前記第2主領域と前記第3主領域の間に前記第2方向に延在する第2隙間領域をさらに有し、
前記第1側又は前記第2側において、前記第1隙間領域の前記第1方向における第1幅と前記第2隙間領域の前記第1方向における第2幅の合計値は、前記第2主領域の前記第1方向における第3幅を2倍した値よりも大きい、
請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1領域は、前記第1方向において前記第2主領域と隣り合う第3主領域と、前記第2主領域と前記第3主領域を接続する第2接続領域と、をさらに有し、
前記長辺は、前記第1隙間領域における前記第4側の長辺であり、
平面視において、前記第2部分と前記第3部分の境界と、前記第2接続領域とは、前記第1方向において対向している、
