Description
以下、本発明の態様について説明する。
〔態様1〕
ステムと、
前記ステムに取り付けられた音波減衰体であって、先端部、基端部、前記先端部の後方に位置する先端領域、及び前記先端部と前記基端部との間に延びる長手方向軸線を含む、音波減衰体と、
前記先端領域内に位置し、前記長手方向軸線の周囲に離間配置された複数のキャビティのアレイであって、圧潰可能な容積を含む、複数のキャビティのアレイと、を備え、
前記先端領域が、前記長手方向軸線に交差する前記複数のキャビティのアレイの横断面において、キャビティ面積(Ac)、材料面積(Am)、及び面積アスペクト比(Ac/Am)を含み、0.10<(Ac/Am)<0.35である、耳栓。
〔態様2〕
前記先端部から8mm〜9mmの距離で前記長手方向軸線に交差する前記複数のキャビティのアレイの横断面において、0.15<(Ac/Am)<0.30である、態様1に記載の耳栓。
〔態様3〕
前記先端部から8mm〜9mmの距離で前記長手方向軸線に交差する前記複数のキャビティのアレイの横断面において、0.10<(Ac/Am)<0.30である、態様1に記載の耳栓。
〔態様4〕
前記先端部から7mm〜10mmの距離で前記長手方向軸線に交差する前記複数のキャビティのアレイの横断面における最大面積アスペクト比(Ac/Am)が0.15〜0.35である、態様1に記載の耳栓。
〔態様5〕
前記複数のキャビティのアレイの少なくとも一部が前記先端部から7mmの距離に存在する、態様1に記載の耳栓。
〔態様6〕
6mm2<(Ac)<24mm2である、態様1に記載の耳栓。
〔態様7〕
前記先端領域が外側先端領域表面を含み、前記複数のキャビティがそれぞれ、前記外側先端領域表面からキャビティ壁厚(Tw)によって隔てられた内側キャビティ表面を含み、1.0mm<(Tw)<2.5mmである、態様1に記載の耳栓。
〔態様8〕
前記複数のキャビティのアレイが4〜18個のキャビティを含む、態様1に記載の耳栓。
〔態様9〕
前記複数のキャビティのアレイが6〜12個のキャビティを含む、態様1に記載の耳栓。
〔態様10〕
前記音波減衰体が、前記先端領域と前記基端部との間に少なくとも部分的に前記ステムの上に延びるフランジを更に含む、態様1に記載の耳栓。
〔態様11〕
前記フランジと前記ステムとの間で前記ステムの周囲に連続的な容積を含むフランジキャビティを更に含む、態様10に記載の耳栓。
〔態様12〕
前記フランジが、外側フランジ表面と、複数の内部突出するスプラインを有する内側フランジ表面とを含む、態様11に記載の耳栓。

前記ステムが、第1材料から作製されたコアと、第2材料から作製された外層と、を含む、態様1に記載の耳栓。

前記コアが、ポリプロピレン及びスチレン−エチレン−ブチレン−スチレン(SEBS)からなる群から選択される材料を含む、態様13に記載の耳栓。

前記音波減衰体がスチレン−エチレン−ブチレン−スチレン(SEBS)を含む、態様1に記載の耳栓。

少なくとも部分的に前記ステムの上に延び、かつ外側フランジ表面、複数の凸部又は凹部の一方又は両方を有する内側フランジ表面、及び前記先端部と前記基端部との間に延びる長手方向軸線を含む、フランジ、を含む、音波減衰体と、
前記先端領域内に位置し、前記長手方向軸線の周囲に離間配置された複数のキャビティのアレイであって、圧潰可能な容積を含む、複数のキャビティのアレイと、
前記内側フランジ表面と前記ステムとの間で前記ステムの周囲に連続的な容積を含むフランジキャビティと、を備え、
前記先端領域が、前記長手方向軸線に交差する前記複数のキャビティのアレイの横断面において、キャビティ面積(Ac)、材料面積(Am)、及び面積アスペクト比(Ac/Am)を含み、0.10<(Ac/Am)<0.35である、耳栓。
〔態様18〕
前記ステムが、第1材料から作製されたコアと、第2材料から作製された外層とを含む、態様17に記載の耳栓。
〔態様19〕
前記音波減衰体及び前記ステムが発泡体を含む、態様17に記載の耳栓。
〔態様20〕
前記音波減衰体がスチレン−エチレン−ブチレン−スチレン(SEBS)を含む、態様17に記載の耳栓。
平衡力は、耳栓が圧縮されたときに加える反発力であり、耳栓が使用者の外耳道内に配置されたときに加える力を表す。平衡力は、耳栓の快適さの相対的レベルの指標を与えることができる。
固定具の直径9.5mm、深さ25mmの凹部内に、LOCTITE 403シアノアクリレート接着剤を使用して耳栓の先端部を接着する。Instron(Norwood,MA)から入手可能なModel 5967引張試験機に固定具を取り付け、垂直に向けたステム部分を引張試験機の空気式顎部に固定した。2.5ポンド(11N)の力に達するまで固定具及び空気式顎部を引っ張り、その後、ホーム位置に戻るように、引張試験機をプログラムした。ホーム位置を約5秒間維持し、引張試験機を再度2.5ポンド(11N)の力まで引っ張った。工程を200サイクル又は破損するまで繰り返した。
実施例1、2及び比較実施例Aのサンプルは、Washington Penn Plastic Co.,Inc.(Frankfort,Kentucky)から入手したPPC1TF2 Pantone 307C(シリアル番号02271318112)で作製されたコアと、Kraton Polymers LLC(Houston,Texas)から入手したショアA硬度32を有するKraton SEBS樹脂で作製された音波減衰部分及びステムの外層とを含み、膨張球及び化学発泡剤を含んだ。音波減衰部分及びステムの外層の材料でコアを被覆し、次いで成形型に入れて加熱し、音波減衰部分を形成した。実施例1の耳栓は、図6b及び図6cに示す形状及び構成を有し、長手方向軸線の周囲に均等に離間配置された台形の断面形状を有する8個のキャビティを含む複数のキャビティのアレイを含んだ。実施例2の耳栓は、図6b及び図7に示す形状及び構成を有し、長手方向軸線の周囲に均等に離間配置された概ね矩形の断面形状を有する6個のキャビティを含む複数のキャビティのアレイを含んだ。比較実施例Aの耳栓は、図6b及び図8に示す形状及び構成を有するが、複数のキャビティのアレイを含まなかった。

- ステムと、
前記ステムに取り付けられた音波減衰体であって、
先端部、
基端部、
前記先端部の後方に位置する先端領域、及び
少なくとも部分的に前記ステムの上に延び、かつ外側フランジ表面、複数の凸部又は凹部の一方又は両方を有する内側フランジ表面、及び前記先端部と前記基端部との間に延びる長手方向軸線を含む、フランジ、を含む、音波減衰体と、
前記先端領域内に位置し、前記長手方向軸線の周囲に離間配置された複数のキャビティのアレイであって、圧潰可能な容積を含む、複数のキャビティのアレイと、
前記内側フランジ表面と前記ステムとの間で前記ステムの周囲に連続的な容積を含むフランジキャビティと、を備え、
前記先端領域が、前記長手方向軸線に交差する前記複数のキャビティのアレイの横断面において、キャビティ面積(Ac)、材料面積(Am)、及び面積アスペクト比(Ac/Am)を含み、0.10<(Ac/Am)<0.35である、耳栓。
