Description
本発明は、高テナシティーで高い伸びのマルチフィラメントポリマーテープ、並びにそれから製造される耐弾性布帛、複合材料、及び物品に関する。
(a)それぞれのポリマーテープは扁平なマルチフィラメントヤーンを含み、ヤーンはヤーンの長さ1インチあたり少なくとも約3撚数でヤーンの長さ1インチあたり約15撚数未満で撚合され、結合されている複数の連続ポリマーフィラメントを含み、ポリマーテープは少なくとも約10:1の平均断面アスペクト比を有する複数のポリマーテープを与え;
(b)複数のポリマーテープを、それらの端部のみが互いと接触するように、並んだ平面状のアレイに配列し;
(c)場合によってはテープのアレイの上にポリマーバインダー材料を施し;そして
(d)テープのアレイを実質的に平面状の一体層にコンソリデーションするのに十分な条件下でテープのアレイに熱及び/又は圧力を加える;
ことを含む、複数のポリマーテープを含む層を形成する方法を提供する。

によって規定することができる。この関係を図8に示す。これらの特性を達成するポリマーテープは、繊維/ヤーンの長さ1インチあたり少なくとも約0.5回の撚糸乃至約15ン撚糸数/インチで撚糸された繊維/ヤーンから形成される。したがって、bの値、即ち図8においてプロットした線がy軸と交差する位置の値は、5〜15の範囲である。bの値の関する別の範囲は、5.5〜15、6.0〜15、7.0〜15、7.5〜15、8.0〜15、8.5〜15、9.0〜15、9.5〜15、及び10〜15、並びに或いは5.5〜13、6.0〜13、7.0〜13、7.5〜13、8.0〜13、8.5〜13、9.0〜13、9.5〜13、及び10〜13;或いは5.5〜10、6.0〜10、7.0〜10、7.5〜10、8.0〜10、8.5〜10、9.0〜10、及び9.5〜10である。必須ではないが、本発明のポリマーテープは少なくとも5.0%のUE%を有して、y=少なくとも5.0(%)であることも最も好ましく、UE%の予測最大値は15.0%である。
実施例1:
1200デニールのSEPCTRA(登録商標)900マルチフィラメントUHMW−PEヤーンをS方向に撚糸して、インチあたり7回(TPI)(2.76回/cm)の撚糸数を有する撚糸ヤーンを形成した。このS撚糸ヤーンのテナシティーは約30〜32g/デニールであった。第2の1200デニールSPECTRA(登録商標)900マルチフィラメントUHMW−PEヤーンを用いてこれを繰り返し、次に2本のS撚糸7TPIヤーンをZ方向にインチあたり5回(1.97回/cm)で撚合して、2400デニールの撚合ヤーンを形成した。次に、この撚合ヤーンを、共に所有される米国特許7,966,797(本発明と矛盾しない範囲で参照として本明細書中に包含する)に記載されている技術にしたがって同時に延伸及び融着させた。本実施例に関する延伸及び融着は、155.5℃において、長さ24メートルのオーブン内で、2.66の延伸比(15メートル/分の供給速度;40メートル/分の巻き取り速度)で行った。
2400デニールのSEPCTRA(登録商標)900マルチフィラメントUHMW−PEヤーン(2×1200デニールSEPCTRA(登録商標)900マルチフィラメントUHMW−PEヤーン)を7TPIの撚糸ヤーンに撚糸した。実施例1とは異なり、本実施例の結合2400デニールヤーンを形成する2本の1200デニールヤーンは撚合しなかった。次に、2400デニールヤーンを、実施例1と同様に長さ24メートルのオーブン内で同時に延伸及び融着させて、それによって融着したモノフィラメント様のヤーンを形成した。モノフィラメント様のヤーンのUTSは29.7g/dであった。UE%は4.09%であり、デニール数は1061であった。次に、このモノフィラメント様のヤーンを、米国特許出願12/539,185に記載されている方法にしたがって、室温において2つのロールの間でコールドプレス及び扁平化して、それによって25.5g/dのUTS、9.24%のUE%、及び1072のデニール数を有するポリマーテープを形成した。
実施例1を繰り返して、それによって24.5g/デニールのUTS、6.32%のUE%、及び1043のデニール数を有するポリマーテープを形成した。
実施例2を繰り返して、それによって25.6g/デニールのUTS、6.39%のUE%、及び1045のデニール数を有するポリマーテープを形成した。
2400デニールのSEPCTRA(登録商標)900マルチフィラメントUHMW−PEヤーン(2×1200デニールSEPCTRA(登録商標)900マルチフィラメントUHMW−PEヤーン)を11TPI(4.33回/cm)の撚糸ヤーンに撚糸した。次に、撚糸ヤーンを、実施例1〜4と同様に長さ24メートルのオーブン内で、155.5℃において2.66の延伸比で同時に延伸及び融着させて、それによって融着したモノフィラメント様のヤーンを形成した。次に、モノフィラメント様のヤーンを、実施例1〜4と同様に室温においてコールドプレス及び扁平化して、それによって22g/dのUTS、10%のUE%、及び1100のデニール数を有するポリマーテープを形成した。
2400デニールのSPECTRA(登録商標)900ヤーンを7TPIの撚糸ヤーンに撚糸し、それから形成されたモノフィラメント様のヤーンを、室温(21〜22℃)においてテープにコールドプレス/扁平化するのではなく、150℃においてテープにホットプレス/扁平化した他は、実施例5を繰り返した。得られたポリマーテープは、24g/dのUTS、11%のUE%、及び1100のデニール数を有していた。
本発明の実施例1〜4のポリマーテープを、下表1に示す特性を有する他の公知のポリマーテープと比較する。比較例1〜3は、本発明の実施例1〜3の供給ヤーンと類似しているが、撚糸していない非撚糸のマルチフィラメントUHMW−PEヤーンを延伸、融着、及び扁平化することによって形成されたテープの特性を示す。比較例4は、米国特許4,623,574にしたがって形成されるテープの公知の特性を示す。比較例5は、Teijin Fibers Ltd.からENDUMAX(登録商標)TA23の商標で商業的に入手できるポリエチレンテープの公知の特性を示す。比較例6は、DuPontからTENSYLON(登録商標)HT1900の商標で商業的に入手できるポリエチレンテープの公知の特性を示す。比較例7は、DMSから商業的に入手できる、彼らの米国特許出願公開2008/0156345に記載されているポリエチレンテープの公知の特性を示す。
以下に実施態様を記載する。
態様1
撚合され、結合されている複数の連続ポリマーフィラメントを含む扁平なマルチフィラ
メントヤーンを含み、テープは少なくとも15g/デニールの極限引張り強さを有し、テ
ープの極限引張り強さ(g/デニール)にテープの極限伸び(%)を乗じた値(UTS・
UE)は少なくとも150であるポリマーテープ。
態様2
テープが少なくとも5.0%の極限伸びを有する、態様1に記載のポリマーテープ。
態様3
複数の連続ポリマーフィラメントが、ヤーンの長さ1インチあたり少なくとも約3撚数
でヤーンの長さ1インチあたり約11撚数未満で撚合されている、態様1に記載のポリ
マーテープ。
態様4
互いに対して並んで実質的に平行で平面関係で一方向に配列され、一緒に積層されてい
る態様1に記載の複数のテープを含む不織積層体。
態様5
態様1に記載の複数のポリマーテープから形成される織布。
態様6
撚合され、結合されている複数の連続ポリマーフィラメントを含む扁平なマルチフィラ
メントヤーンを含み、テープは、互いに対して比例しており、関係式:
y=−0.04x+b(ここで、b=5以上であり、xは15以上である)
に合致する極限伸び(y)(%)及び極限引張り強さ(x)(g/デニール)を有するポ
リマーテープ。

互いに対して並んで実質的に平行で平面関係で一方向に配列され、一緒に積層されてい
る態様6に記載の複数のテープを含む不織積層体。

態様6に記載の複数のポリマーテープから形成される織布。

(a)それぞれのポリマーテープは扁平なマルチフィラメントヤーンを含み、ヤーンは

(b)複数のポリマーテープを、それらの端部のみが互いと接触するように、並んだ平
面状のアレイに配列し;
(c)場合によってはテープのアレイの上にポリマーバインダー材料を施し;そして
(d)テープのアレイを実質的に平面状の一体層にコンソリデーションするのに十分な
条件下でテープのアレイに熱及び/又は圧力を加える;
ことを含む、複数のポリマーテープを含む層を形成する方法。
態様10
態様9の工程(a)〜(d)を少なくとも2回行って、それによって複数の層を形成
し、複数の層を積層体に配列し、その後、積層体を実質的に平面状の一体多層物品にコン
ソリデーションするのに十分な条件下で積層体に熱及び/又は圧力を加えることを含む、
多層物品を形成する方法。
Claims (3)
- 扁平なマルチフィラメントヤーンを含むポリマーテープであって、該ヤーンは、一緒に撚合されかつ一緒に結合又は融着されている複数の連続ポリマーフィラメントを含み、かつ、ヤーンの長さ1インチ(2.54cm)あたり少なくとも11撚数であって15撚数以下であり、該テープは、少なくとも15g/デニールの極限引張り強さを有し、該テープの極限引張り強さ(g/デニール)にテープの極限伸び(%)を乗じた値(UTS・UE)が少なくとも150であるポリマーテープ。
- 扁平なマルチフィラメントヤーンを含むポリマーテープであって、該ヤーンは、一緒に撚合されかつ一緒に融着されている複数の連続ポリマーフィラメントを含み、かつ、ヤーンの長さ1インチ(2.54cm)あたり少なくとも11撚数であって15撚数以下であり、該テープは、互いに対して比例しており、関係式:
y=−0.04x+b(ここで、b=5以上であり、xは25以上である)
に合致する極限伸び(y)(%)及び極限引張り強さ(x)(g/デニール)を有するポリマーテープ。 - 複数のポリマーテープを含む層を形成する方法であって、
(a)複数のポリマーテープであって、それぞれのポリマーテープが扁平なマルチフィラメントヤーンを含んでおり、該ヤーンが、ヤーンの長さ1インチ(2.54cm)あたり少なくとも11撚数であって15撚数未満までで一緒に撚合されかつ一緒に結合又は融着されている複数の連続ポリマーフィラメントを含み、該ポリマーテープが少なくとも10:1の平均断面アスペクト比を有するところの複数のポリマーテープを与え;
(b)該複数のポリマーテープを、それらの端部のみが互いと接触するように、並んだ平面状のアレイに配列し;
(c)場合によっては該テープのアレイの上にポリマーバインダー材料を施し;そして
(d)該テープのアレイを実質的に平面状の一体層にコンソリデーションするのに十分な条件下で該テープのアレイに熱及び/又は圧力を加える;
ことを含む方法。
