0.01ppm、0.1ppm、1ppm、及び10ppmのセシウムイオンが含有された海水をそれぞれ準備し、嫌気性槽と微生物浄化槽を備えた。嫌気性槽では、それぞれのセシウムイオンが含有された海水にNaHCO3及びHClを混合してpHを7.5に調整し、硫黄供給源として亜硫酸ナトリウムを混合した。この際、混合される亜硫酸ナトリウムは、セシウムイオン含有溶液10kgを基準として、10gを投与した。嫌気性槽で攪拌しながら12時間が経過した後、セシウムイオンを含有する溶液を微生物浄化槽に移送した。微生物浄化槽で、鉄供給源として塩化鉄(II)、電子供与体として乳酸、及び金属還元バクテリアとしてデスルフォビブリオ・ブルガリス(Desulfovibrio vulgaris)を混合した。この際、塩化鉄は1mM、乳酸は10mM、デスルフォビブリオ・ブルガリスは1.0mg/L(タンパク質濃度を基準とする)となるように混合した。微生物浄化槽でそれぞれのセシウムイオン含有溶液を攪拌しながら48時間以上反応させ、沈殿されたパウトバイト(Pautovite)を分離した後、浄化水を取ってセシウムイオンの濃度を測定し、図3に示した。
海水に代えて淡水を用いてセシウムイオンの除去効率を測定したことを除き、前記海水中のセシウムイオン除去効率の測定と同様の方法により実験を行い、図4に示した。
淡水中のセシウムイオン除去効率を測定し、この際、0.01ppm及び0.1ppmで微生物浄化槽での反応時間を異ならせてセシウムイオンの除去効率を測定し、図5に示した。
海水中のセシウムイオン除去した後、生じた汚泥を分離して電子顕微鏡(FESEM、S‐4700、日立製作所製)を用いて分析した。得られたFESEM写真及び元素分析結果を図6に示した。
海水中のセシウムイオン除去効率を測定した後、生じた汚泥を分離し、X線回折(Bruker D8 Advance diffractometer)分析法により分析した後、結果を図7に示した。

Claims (15)
- セシウムイオンを含有する溶液に金属還元バクテリア、鉄供給源、及び硫黄供給源を混合し、セシウムイオンをセシウム含有固形鉱物に転換させるステップを含む、セシウムイオンの除去方法。
- セシウム含有鉱物はパウトバイト(Pautovite;CsFe2S3)である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- セシウムイオンをセシウム含有鉱物に転換させるステップにおける溶液のpHは7〜8.5である、請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
- 金属還元バクテリアは、シュードモナス(Pseudomonas)、シェワネラ(Shewanella)、クロストリジウム(Clostridium)、デスルフォビブリオ(Desulfovibrio)、デスルフォスポロシナス(Desulfosporosinus)、デスルフォトマクラム(Desulfotomaculum)、アナエロミクソバクター(Anaeromyxobacter)、及びジオバクター(Geobacter)からなる群から選択される何れか1つまたは2つ以上である、請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 金属還元バクテリアの濃度は、タンパク質濃度を基準として0.3〜5mg/Lである、請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 鉄供給源は、塩化鉄(II)、硫酸鉄(II)、酢酸鉄(II)、臭化鉄(II)、及び硝酸鉄(II)から選択される1つまたは2つ以上である、請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 鉄供給源の濃度は0.5〜5mMである、請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 硫黄供給源は、SO4 2−、SO3 2−、SO2 2−、S2O3 2−、S2O4 2−、S2O5 2−、S2O6 2−、S2O7 2−、S2O8 2−、S4O7 2− 、またはS4O6 2−で表されるアニオンを生成する化合物である、請求項1〜7のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 硫黄供給源は脱溶存酸素剤である、請求項1〜8のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 硫黄供給源の濃度は0.3〜2.0mMである、請求項1〜9のいずれかに記載の方法。
- セシウムイオンを含有する溶液に電子供与体をさらに混合する、請求項1〜10のいずれかに記載の方法。
- セシウムイオンを含有する溶液中のセシウムの濃度は0.5ppm以下である、請求項1〜11のいずれかに記載の方法。
- セシウムイオンを含有する溶液は海水である、請求項1〜12のいずれかに記載の方法。
- セシウムイオンを含有する溶液が流入され、硫黄供給源及びpH調節試薬が供給される嫌気性槽と、
前記嫌気性槽と連通しており、金属還元バクテリア、鉄供給源、及び電子供与体が供給される微生物浄化槽と、を含み、
前記微生物浄化槽で、金属還元バクテリアの活動によりセシウムイオンがセシウムを含む固形鉱物に転換及び沈殿され、前記セシウムイオンを含有する溶液中のセシウムイオンが凝集された汚泥として除去される、セシウムイオン除去装置。 - 嫌気性槽と微生物浄化槽を開閉可能に連通させる第1移送管と、
前記第1移送管に連結され、嫌気性槽のセシウムイオンを含有する溶液を微生物浄化槽に移送させる第1移送ポンプと、
前記微生物浄化槽の下部と連通し、開閉可能に設けられる汚泥排出管と、
前記汚泥排出管に連結され、前記微生物浄化槽から堆積した汚泥を排出させる汚泥排出ポンプと、をさらに含む、請求項14に記載のセシウムイオン除去装置。
