Description
本出願は、その全体が本願明細書に援用される2012年5月18日に出願された米国仮特許出願第61/648697号の優先権を主張する。
本発明は、概してカプセル化粒子に関するものである。更に詳細には、本発明は、コア粒子及び該コア粒子の周りに配置されたポリウレタンを含むカプセル化粒子に関する。
制御放出肥料などのカプセル化粒子は、農業分野で知られている。これらのカプセル化粒子は、通常、コア粒子の周りに配置された1種以上のポリウレタンを含む。ポリウレタンの厚さ及び結集性は、コア粒子の土壌中への溶解速度を制限する。残念ながら、従来のカプセル化粒子の多くは、脆く、通常の取り扱い中に破損することもあり、その結果、コア粒子の土壌中への予測不可能で且つ急速な溶解を引き起こす。これらの加速された溶解速度は、浪費と薬害につながる。従って、改善されたカプセル化粒子を開発する機会が残されている。
カプセル化粒子は、コア粒子と該コア粒子の周りに配置されたポリウレタンを含む。ポリウレタンは、少なくとも2の公称官能価を有する芳香族イソシアネート成分とポリオール成分との反応生成物を含む。芳香族イソシアネート成分は、芳香族イソシアネート成分とポリオール成分の全質量を基準として、約20〜60質量%の量で利用される。ポリオール成分は、芳香族イソシアネート成分とポリオール成分の全質量を基準として、約40〜80質量%の量で利用される。ポリオール成分は、4の公称官能価を有する芳香族アミン系開始剤及び2〜4の公称官能価を有する脂肪族ポリエーテルから誘導されたポリオールを含む。芳香族アミン系開始剤から誘導体されたポリオールと脂肪族ポリエーテルポリオールとの質量比は、約1:2〜2:1である。
カプセル化粒子はコア粒子を含む。コア粒子は、様々な形態で、例えば、様々なサイズ及び形状で、利用され得る。特定の実施態様では、コア粒子は肥料を含む。当業者は、様々な肥料が本発明のカプセル化粒子と組み合わせて使用され得ることを理解している。通常、肥料としては、窒素、リン、炭酸カリウム、硫黄、及び/又はそれらの組み合わせが挙げられる。

の構造であってよい。従って、R1が、アルキル基、アミン基、又は水素のうちいずれか1つであってよいか、又はそれらの組み合わせを含む任意の化合物であってよいことが理解されるべきである。また、R2〜R6が同一である必要はなく、それぞれがアミン基又は水素原子を含み得ることも理解されるべきである。「アミン基」との用語が、全体を通して、R−N−H、R−NH2、R−NR(H)、又はR−N−R’(R’’)(式中、Rはアルキル基、アリール基、又はアルケニル基である)を意味することも理解されるべきである。
カプセル化粒子の形成方法を以下に記載する。カプセル化粒子を形成するために、コア粒子を提供する。イソシアネート成分とポリオール成分を次いでコア粒子に適用する。接触時に(及びポリウレタン分野で理解されている反応条件下で)、イソシアネート成分とポリオール成分とを反応させ始めて、コア粒子の周りに配置されたポリウレタンを形成し、カプセル化粒子を形成する。
3種のポリウレタンを、それらのそれぞれの成分をビーカー内で一緒に混合することによって調製する。3種それぞれのポリウレタンを形成するために使用される反応物を、以下の表1に示す。組成物Aは、本発明の組成物の一実施態様に従って、芳香族イソシアネート成分、芳香族アミン系開始剤から誘導されたポリオール、及び脂肪族ポリエーテルポリオールを含む。組成物Bは、芳香族イソシアネート成分と芳香族アミン系開始剤から誘導されたポリオールを含むが脂肪族ポリエーテルポリオールを含まない比較例である。組成物Cは、芳香族イソシアネート成分及び脂肪族ポリエーテルポリオールを含むが、芳香族アミン系ポリエーテルポリオールから誘導されたポリオールを含まない比較例である。
Claims (12)
- コア粒子;及び
前記コア粒子の周りに配置され且つ少なくとも2の公称官能価を有する芳香族イソシアネート成分とポリオール成分との反応生成物を含むポリウレタン
を含むカプセル化粒子であって、
その際、前記芳香族イソシアネート成分が、前記芳香族イソシアネート成分と前記ポリオール成分の全質量を基準として20〜60質量%の量で利用され、且つ
前記ポリオール成分が、前記芳香族イソシアネート成分と前記ポリオール成分の全質量を基準として40〜80質量%の量で利用され、且つ
前記ポリオール成分が、
芳香族アミン系開始剤から誘導され且つ4の公称官能価を有するポリオール、及び
2〜4の公称官能価を有する脂肪族ポリエーテルポリオール
を含み、
前記芳香族アミン系開始剤から誘導された前記ポリオール対前記脂肪族ポリエーテルポリオールの質量比が1:2〜2:1である、前記カプセル化粒子。 - 前記ポリオール成分が、前記ポリオール成分の全質量を基準として30〜70質量%の前記芳香族アミン系開始剤から誘導されたポリオールを含み、且つ
前記ポリオール成分が、前記ポリオール成分の全質量を基準として30〜70質量%の前記脂肪族ポリエーテルポリオールを含む、請求項1に記載のカプセル化粒子。 - 前記カプセル化粒子の全質量を基準として6質量%未満の前記ポリウレタンを含む、請求項1又は2に記載のカプセル化粒子であって、
5〜50質量%の前記コア粒子が25℃で24時間以内に水に溶解する、前記カプセル化粒子。 - 前記コア粒子が硫酸アンモニウムを含む、請求項1から3までのいずれか1項に記載のカプセル化粒子。
- 前記脂肪族ポリエーテルポリオールが、プロピレングリコール開始剤及び複数のアルキレンオキシド単位から形成され、
前記複数のアルキレンオキシド単位が、前記複数のアルキレンオキシド単位の全質量を基準として少なくとも50質量%のプロピレンオキシド単位を含む、請求項1から5までのいずれか1項に記載のカプセル化粒子。 - 前記ポリオール成分が、前記芳香族イソシアネート成分と前記ポリオール成分の全質量を基準として、5〜25質量%の、前記ポリオール成分に溶解する油を更に含む、請求項1から6までのいずれか1項に記載のカプセル化粒子。
- 前記ポリウレタンの周りに配置されたシーラントを更に含む請求項1から7までのいずれか1項に記載のカプセル化粒子であって、前記シーラントが、有機ワックス、熱可塑性ポリマー、鉱物油及びこれらの組み合わせから選択される、前記カプセル化粒子。
- コア粒子を提供する工程;
少なくとも2の公称官能価を有する芳香族イソシアネート成分を提供する工程;
芳香族アミン系開始剤から誘導され且つ4の公称官能価を有するポリオール、及び
2〜4の公称官能価を有する脂肪族ポリエーテルポリオール
を含むポリオール成分を提供する工程;
芳香族イソシアネート成分をコア粒子に適用する工程;及び
ポリオール成分をコア粒子に適用する工程
を含む、カプセル化粒子の形成方法であって、
ポリオール成分と芳香族イソシアネート成分が反応してコア粒子の周りに配置されたポリウレタンを形成し;
ポリオール成分は、芳香族イソシアネート成分とポリオール成分の全質量を基準として、40〜80質量%の量で利用され、
前記芳香族イソシアネート成分が、前記芳香族イソシアネート成分と前記ポリオール成分の全質量を基準として20〜60質量%の量で利用され、
;且つ
芳香族アミン系開始剤から誘導されたポリオール対脂肪族ポリエーテルポリオールの質量比が1:2〜2:1である、前記方法。 - コア粒子の周りに第1のコーティング層を形成し且つ第1のコーティング層の周りに少なくとも1つの追加のコーティング層を形成することを更に含む、請求項9に記載の方法。
- ポリオール成分が53℃で100〜300cPの粘度を有する、請求項9又は10に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリオール成分が、芳香族アミン系開始剤から誘導されたポリオールと脂肪族ポリエーテルポリオールとを質量比1:1.5〜1.5:1で含む、請求項1に記載のカプセル化粒子。
